Isle of Man TT races 'significantly oversubscribed'

All solo classes for the Isle of Man TT races in June have been "significantly oversubscribed", according to the event's organisers.

About 100 riders have registered for the Superbike, Superstock, Supersport and Senior races, although there are just 70 places on the grid.

An event spokesman said racing "promises to be extremely competitive".

The Lightweight TT race and sidecar classes also received record interest before entries closed this week.

More than 70 crews have signed up for the sidecar class, the largest number since 2007.

Organiser Paul Phillips said: "There has been incredible interest across all classes - in fact we are having to turn people away with entries oversubscribed for the majority of our races.

"It is especially pleasing to see the commitment from all the leading teams and manufacturers.

"The TT's sporting foundations are stronger than ever."

In total, more than 420 riders registered to race in the event, and the SES TT Zero race, for electric machines, has also been well supported.
