It is not always a straightforward decision deciding what to wear.

If the weather is sunny and warm the choice is pretty easy but if not it will require a considerable amount of thought.

Because of the amount of climbing on the menu, a rider does not want to wear too much.

The body can overheat quickly when climbing but can get cold just as quickly descending.

There is always the possibility of getting some extra gear out of your rain bag in the team car which is following the race.

But on a stage such as this, with riders spread all over the mountainside, this can be easier said than done.

While the riders are making up their minds about what to wear, the doctor will make his rounds.

The purpose of this is to check everyone's blood pressure and see how they feel for the day ahead.

You have to be feeling 100% for a stage like this, or things are made even more difficult than they already are.
