Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar’s bowling action has been the subject of intense scrutiny.
Twice the 25-year-old’s action has been examined after accusations of throwing the ball. And twice Akhtar, part of the 17-man squad selected to play England in a two-Test series, has been cleared.
Akhtar underwent tests at the University of Western Australia’s Department of Human Movement and Exercise Science.
And his action was also analysed by a five-man team and it was decided Akhtar’s “unique physical characteristics” cause an illusion, which looks like he is throwing the ball.
