Fight heads to Memphis
Lewis and Tyson sign up to face each other in April. At the press conference to announce the contest, the pair become entangled in a huge brawl which disgraces the sport and casts doubt over the fight's future.

On 29 January, Nevada officials decide not to relicence Tyson, thereby quashing any chance of the fight taking place in Las Vegas.

After claiming Tyson bit him in the leg something that the former champion would later admit to Lewis seems slightly hesitant about arranging the fight anywhere else.

Tyson applies for a licence at any number of states, with Washington and Michigan seeming favourites to host the bout.

Finally, Memphis, a state with no real history in terms of boxing, is selected as the location, the date being 8 June. Tyson, almost expectedly, announces: "My main objective is to be professional but to kill him.

Did you know?
If Tyson beats Lewis, he will join a small band of illustrious fighters who have won the world heavyweight title three times. Muhammad Ali, Evander Holyfield and a certain Lennox Lewis are the only members of that club.
