Disaster for Lewis as he is knocked out in five rounds by Hasim Rahman in South Africa. Looking overweight and under-trained, the Englishman is poleaxed by a right hand.

Outside the ring, Lewis parts company with manager Frank Maloney and the split is not harmonious.

In order to secure an immediate rematch, Lewis takes Rahman to court, forcing a return fight to take place in November. This time, Lewis shows all his skills to register a stunning fourth round knockout. Afterwards, he says a Tyson fight is next on his agenda.

Tyson fights just once – a seventh round technical knockout of Denmark's Brian Nielsen. At more than 17st, Tyson is his heaviest ever, but still retains the handspeed that marks him out as unique.

Did you know?
Lewis’ training for the first Rahman fight was hampered by his acting debut in Hollywood blockbuster Ocean’s Eleven. The champion has expressed an interest in going into the movie business, but his debut was a silent one.
