Tyson's rape victim
Tyson hits rock bottom as he is convicted of rape and is given a 10-year jail sentence. Of that sentence, four years are suspended, while under the rules of the Indiana prison service, Tyson is entitled to a one-day parole in return for one day of good behaviour. In effect, he could be released from prison after three years.

Lewis enjoys his best year yet, taking the Commonwealth title with a third round knockout of Derek Williams, before flooring Donovan ‘Razor’ Ruddock in two rounds.

The fight is billed as the final eliminator for the world title, but new champion Riddick Bowe refuses to honour a contract to fight Lewis. The WBC make Lewis their champion by default as Bowe ceremoniously dumps their belt into a dustbin.

Tyson was found guilty on the same date he lost to Buster Douglas in 1990 – 11 February.
