Tyson's 'quit' threat
Tyson opens the year with a crushing defeat of former champion Larry Holmes.

After a quick visit to Tokyo, where he knocks out Tony Tubbs, Tysonís life begins to unravel.

He marries Hollywood actress Robin Givens, his co-manager Jim Jacobs dies of leukaemia and Don King moves in to take care of business.

In the meantime, the fight with Spinks is made and a hyped-up Tyson ends the contest after 91 seconds with a devastating right hand.

Lewis becomes Olympic super-heavyweight champion after stopping future rival Riddick Bowe in Seoul. Despite lucrative offers from a number of promoters in America, Lewis signs for little-known British manager Frank Maloney.

Did you know?
Aside from his 91-second knockout of Spinks, Tysonís other quickies included a 20-second stoppage of Marvis Frazier, son of legend Joe.
