Irish Open: Graeme McDowell bid boosted by late birdies

Graeme McDowell's hopes of winning the Irish Open at Fota Island are boosted by two late birdies as he goes into the final day two shots behind leader Mikko Ilonen.

The Northern Ireland player posted a third-round 69 to move to 10 under par.

The former US Open champion began his round well with a birdie at the second, but bogeys at the eighth and ninth were a setback.

Birdies at the 16th and 17th saw McDowell move back into contention for victory in his home tournament.
