Rory McIlroy has to dash to make his tee time in Sunday's Ryder Cup singles after a mix-up over his start time.
Ryder Cup 2012: Rory Mcllroy arrives 10 minutes before tee-off
Rory Mcllroy arrived at the course just 10 minutes before his tee-off time on the final day of the Ryder Cup but recovered to beat Keegan Bradley 2&1.
Mcllroy, 23, was due to face American Bradley at 11:25 local time but reached the Medina Country Club car park in an unmarked police car at 11:15.
"It is the most worried I've ever been," McIlroy said. "I thought I was teeing off at 12:25, not 11:25."
Europe captain Jose Maria Olazabal said: "I didn't have this in mind."
The rest of the European team had spent at least an hour at the course preparing for their matches, but Mcllroy's late arrival meant he was only able to hurriedly eat an energy bar and take a few practice swings to loosen up before he having to dash to the first tee.
McIlroy explained: "I was just casually strolling out of my hotel room when I got a phone call saying you have 25 minutes. I have never been so worried driving to the course.
"Luckily there was a State Trooper outside who gave me the escort. If not I would not have made it on time.
"I had read my tee time on my phone, but it was just one of those things. I got here in the front of a police car, at least it wasn't in the back!"
The Northern Irishman's first shot landed off the fairway at the foot of the spectators, but he recovered to tie the opening hole.
Mcllroy then took the lead thanks to a birdie on the fourth, and continued to stay ahead against Bradley, who had won all three points at Medina in his debut Ryder Cup.
"I'm happy to get a point to help the team," Mcllroy said. "When I saw the match-up I liked it, I liked playing one of their strongest players."

Let's move on ! For first, Rory shouldn't ever being compare with Tiger, it's offensive to even use his name in the same line. Tiger for all his golf achievements is a horrible person. Whithou any manners or loyalty , to his team mates, country or his family . Rory is a nice, well balanced boy, with great sportmanship manners . If he will achieve the same as Tiger, it's left to be seeing .

Lets all hail the greatest Ryder cup victory ever, the whole europe team kept believing and beat a very strong US team who were favourites for a win on home soil.
Those two great putts by Rose on the back nine even had Mickelson applauding him.
A classic contest that will be remembered for years to come.

Oh and while I'm on the subject of Tiger, his concession to Molinari shouldn't be seen as a great act of sportsmanship. Did you watch his reaction? He was so p!$$€d off at his miss that he couldn't wait to get off the green. He gave no thought to the opportunity to tie the score &give his team some consolation, but its never about the team with Tiger. I'm sure his teammates love him all the more

Re @50, Rory needs to take a leaf out of Tigers book...SURE! we'd all like to see him turn into a petulant oik who spits on greens, slams clubs down & swears like a trooper when he doesn't get things his way. God forbid! Rory is a nice guy who despite having made more money by 23 than most people earn in several lifetimes, remains grounded & down to earth. Oh and he's popular with his teammates...

Well done Rory, Nice young man. Also as world #1, cared about playing for Europe. He's only 23 and a very long hitter, he will get even longer as he approaches 25/26 years old.
