Yorkshire's Simon Dyson shrugged off a heavy cold to finish with a level-par 70 in the 141st Open Championship at Royal Lytham and St Annes.
The 34-year-old made light of feeling under the weather with a solid final round to finish two over.
Dyson shot 16 pars and a birdie at the 10th in a round sullied only by a bogey at 15.
"I played really nice, considering how I felt. I feel terrible, worse than I was yesterday," he told
BBC Radio York.
He added: "But 16 pars, one birdie, one bogey, is pretty steady going in that wind.
"I'm really pleased how I've played this week and now good I've got a couple of nice tournaments to look forward to."
Following his tie for 23rd at Lytham, York-born Dyson, leading Englishman at the 2011 Open at Sandwich, now heads off back to the States in good heart.
He will tee it up at the Bridgestone Invitational at Akron, Ohio next Thursday, followed by the US PGA at Kiawah Island the week after that, starting on 9 August.
