Susie Wolff becomes the first woman to take part in a Formula 1 race weekend in 22 years during first practice for the British Grand Prix.
But the Williams development driver's session is cut abruptly short when her car suffers from a loss of oil pressure after just one flying lap.
The last woman to enter the F1 world championship was Italian Giovanna Amati, who failed to qualify for three races with Brabham in 1992 before being dropped, while the last woman to race in a Grand Prix was Italian Lella Lombardi in 1976.
