Mercedes and Pirelli tyre test row explained
Pirelli Motorsport Director Paul Hembery explains his company "clarified what we needed to do some time ago with the FIA following after criticism of a three-day tyre test with Mercedes after the Spanish Grand Prix.
Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner says the test was "a clear breach of the sporting regulations", but BBC Sport's Eddie Jordan believes the row is "nonsense" and states Pirelli are "absolutely within their rights".
Red Bull and Ferrari have protested against Mercedes, accusing them of breaking article 22.4 of the sporting regulations which forbids in-season testing, other than for a single three-day young driver test or for straight-line aerodynamic tests.
