Wayne Routledge: Swansea City keen to extend winger's contract

Swansea City have started negotiations with Wayne Routledge to extend the winger's contract.

The 29-year-old's current deal is not set to expire until 2017, but the Premier League side are discussing a one-year extension until 2018.

Routledge was in impressive form for Swansea last season, playing 41 matches and scoring six goals.

The former Crystal Palace and Tottenham winger arrived at the Liberty Stadium from Newcastle United in August 2011.

Swansea have already re-signed captain Ashley Williams and fellow defender Kyle Bartley, but it is understood that Napoli have opened negotiations to sign Spain forward Michu.
