Alfreton Town: Paul Wetton named first chief executive

Alfreton Town have appointed Paul Wetton as their first chief executive.

Wetton, 34, studied law at university, was a scout and recruitment officer at Sheffield Wednesday and has also worked as a sports management consultant.

The Reds see a chief executive as crucial to help improve their financial situation on and off the pitch prior to a fourth successive season in the Conference Premier.

Alfreton chairman Wayne Bradley put the club up for sale in April.

The Reds finished 11th in the league last season - their highest placing in the football pyramid.

But they have struggled to generate revenue and attract big crowds and Bradley believes he has taken the club as far as he can.
