Oxford United: Callum O'Dowda earns praise from Gary Waddock
Oxford United boss Gary Waddock hailed the contribution of winger Callum O'Dowda after he helped the U's bounce back to winning ways on Saturday.
They ended a run of three consecutive defeats, recording a 2-0 victory over Plymouth.
“Sometimes you need to be brave to stick players in”
It was only 18-year-old O'Dowda's sixth league appearance for the club.
"Callum has come in and I've been really impressed with him in training. He gives you pace and an outlet, so I'm really pleased for him," said Waddock.
Waddock told BBC Radio Oxford: "He is a young man learning his trade and to come in and perform the way he did must be exciting for him.
"Sometimes you need to be brave to stick players in, especially with a game like today, and we've got brave staff."
The result helped Oxford move back into the League Two play-off places and Waddock described his players as "fantastic".
They now have four games left and are one point above York - who they next face in the league - a match Waddock said will be "one hell of a game".
