Irish Premiership: Cliftonville 5-0 Ballinamallard Utd

Liam Boyce scored a nine-minute hat-trick as Cliftonville hammered Ballinamallard 5-0 at Solitude.

Joe Gormley hit the Mallards bar before Boyce drilled into the bottom corner for a 29th minute opener.

Boyce netted again with a neat finish before completing his treble by slotting past keeper Alvin Rouse.

Gormley fired home the fourth early in the second half and Chris Curran curled in to seal a win which keeps the Reds two points behind leaders Linfield.

Cliftonville kept the pressure on the pacesetters with a clinical display in north Belfast.

Boyce was the star of the show, his classy quick-fire treble and assists making this a one-sided affair.

He sent strike partner Gormley through for a fourth Reds goal on 57 minutes and was involved again as Curran scored against his former club eight minutes later.

Liam Martin missed with a late header for the Mallards while Cliftonville defender Marc Smyth saw his headed effort hooked off the line.
