  2.

Alex: All Barca do is play pass upon pass, can be really boring at times. Easy to play against them, press high and push them wide!

Dennis Chali: Looks like its possible for Man City after all!

  3.

Ally Hewet: I hope Pellegrini is watching the Barca game tonight and taking notes! If Real Sociedad can score 3 City can score 10!!

So. The #bbceurofooty line is still open. What did you think of that performance?

Barca were poor, but at the same time Sociedad were brilliant. Is it too harsh to criticise the Catalans? After all, they did outplay Manchester City last week.

  5. 20:49:
    FULL-TIME- Real Sociedad 3-1 Barcelona
    Real Sociedad

That is it. Three losses and one draw from the last four matches in San Sebastian for Barcelona.

  6. 20:48:
    Real Sociedad 3-1 Barcelona

Andres Iniesta flashes a shot high and wide from 25 yards. If an effort could sum up Barca's performance it was that one.

  7. 20:47:
INJURY TIME- Real Sociedad 3-1 Barcelona

There are three minutes of added time. It's not looking good for the champions. They'll want to get on the express highway back to Catalonia pretty sharpish.

Declan Bonner: This is how you do it man city!!! High pressing and keeping to the way you normally play!!

  9. 20:41:
    Real Sociedad 3-1 Barcelona

There are five minutes of normal time remaining for Barca to salvage something out of this. At the moment, Sociedad look more likely to score a fourth... and fifth.

  10. 20:38:
HITS THE WOODWORK- Real Sociedad 3-1 Barcelona

What a lovely passage of attacking play from... Sociedad. Substitute Xabi Prieto puts his head on the line, literally, to win the ball. He runs into the area then plays a square pass to Carlos Vela whose attempted sidefoot shot bounces off the post. Barca then take an age to clear their lines.

  11. 20:35:
    Real Sociedad 3-1 Barcelona

Barcelona's Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas have both been on the pitch for a few minutes, but their side still cannot break through this Sociedad wall.

  12. 20:32:
    Real Sociedad 3-1 Barcelona

Barcelona's only away defeat this season came at Athletic Bilbao. I reckon this will be another one. I know. last of the big predictors.

  13. 20:30:
    Real Sociedad 3-1 Barcelona

Barcelona are denied again by great defending. This time Joseba Zaldua arrives at the far post to head the ball away before Neymar can pounce. Incidentally, Neymar has not done much at the Anoeta.

Andrew Priestley: Real Madrid have shown that they can continue to win without Ronaldo. Barca and Atletico would struggle without their talismen.

  15. 20:27:
    CLOSE!- Real Sociedad 3-1 Barcelona

Mikel Gonzalez has been a busy bee. The Sociedad central defender makes a vital block to stop Lionel Messi's strike from finding the bottom corner.

  16. 20:24:
    Real Sociedad 3-1 Barcelona

Sociedad aren't really giving Barcelona an inch in their final third. Coach Jagoba Arrasate, who has worked up the ranks at Sociedad, has got his tactics right. He's only 35. Younger than me.

  17. 20:20:
    CLOSE!- Real Sociedad 3-1 Barcelona

Hands up who predicted this scoreline? I don't see many hands. Barca are on the charge - Adriano's strike takes a deflection, loops over the Sociedad defence but flies wide of the left-hand post.

  18. 20:14:
GOAL- Real Sociedad 3-1 Barcelona - David Zurutuza (59 mins)

Maybe Jose Mourinho had a point. OK, a bit harsh to call them the "worst Barcelona side in years", but tonight they are playing like the worst Barcelona side in years. David Zurutuza bravely converts Antoine Griezmann's low ball from the right at the feet of Victor Valdes.

  19. 20:13:
RED CARD FOR BARCA COACH- Real Sociedad 2-1 Barcelona

While that was all happening - we are talking about five minutes ago - Barcelona coach Tata Martino was sent to the stands. Hang on...

  20. 20:09:
GOAL- Real Sociedad 2-1 Barcelona - Antoine Griezmann (54 mins)

They were knocking earlier - and once again they've burst through the Barca door. Antoine Griezmann stretches to convert Carlos Vela's square ball into the roof of the Barca net.

  21. 20:08:
    CLOSE!- Real Sociedad 1-1 Barcelona

Barca have a corner which defender Marc Bartra heads into the clutches of Claudio Bravo. Moments later at the other end, Mikel Gonzalez goes closer with a header that sails less than a foot over the bar. Wowzers!

Abdullah Mulla: If Real don't win the league, Barca will because they have more strength in their squad than Atletico.

  23. 20:03:
    Real Sociedad 1-1 Barcelona

It's goal o'clock in the French league as you can see. Back to the Anoeta - Sociedad have a corner which fails to trouble Barca. The home side are on the front foot.

  24. 20:02:
    French Ligue 1HALF-TIME

    Bastia 0-1 St Etienne

    Bordeaux 0-0 Evian Thonon Gaillard

    Guingamp 0-0 Nice

    Montpellier 0-0 Ajaccio

    Valenciennes 0-0 Sochaux

  25. 20:01:

  27. 19:56:
    ATLETICO SET FOR SUNDAY SHOWDOWN

"When are Atletico Madrid playing?" I hear you scream.

They are playing on Sunday evening (20:00 GMT) La Liga fans. Diego Simeone's side are away at Osasuna.

The table as it stands has Real Madrid top on 63 points, Barca second on 61 and Atletico third on 60.

  28. 19:50:
    Real Sociedad 1-1 Barcelona
    Sociedad goal

Now then. Although the stats have not been officially changed, it appears that it was Barca's defensive midfielder Alex Song who got on the end of Canales's cross for Sociedad's goal. Sorry Gorka Elustondo. They all count though.

  29. 19:46:
    HALF-TIME- Real Sociedad 1-1 Barcelona

There you go. All level. Plenty of chances - most of them for the home side. Barca aren't quite at the races - handy for them that Messi is.

  30. 19:44:
    Real Sociedad 1-1 Barcelona

One minute of normal first-half time remaining. Eventful eh?

  31.

Opta Jose: Lionel Messi has scored in the last five league meetings against Real Sociedad (six goals in total).

  32. 19:41:
    POOR!- Real Sociedad 1-1 Barcelona

Carlos Vela? Really?! Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique tries to clear the ball Keystone Cops style from the edge of the area. Instead it ball falls into the path of Sociedad's Mexican forward, who shifts one way before firing wildly over from 16 yards. He should have caused damage to the net.

  33. 19:35:
GOAL- Real Sociedad 1-1 Barcelona - Lionel Messi (36 mins)

That was just stupid - stupidly, brilliantly good. Sociedad held the lead for about four minutes before this Argentine fella, Lionel Messi, linked up with Martín Montoya and fired in low into Claudio Bravo's bottom left.

  34. 19:32:
GOAL- Real Sociedad 1-0 Barcelona - Gorka Elustondo (32 mins)

It was sort of coming really. Defensive midfielder Gorka Elustondo climbs highest inside the area to head in Sergio Canales' cross from the right. It might have taken a slight deflection off Barca's Alex Song en route.

  35. 19:31:
    CLOSE!- Real Sociedad 0-0 Barcelona

Vela, probably still in shock from his woeful effort moments ago, hits a delightful curling strike from the right side of the pitch which Barca keeper Victor Valdes has to dive low for in order to punch away.

  36.
    Real Sociedad 0-0 Barcelona

Ex-Arsenal striker Carlos Vela goes for a spectacular half-volley from 20 yards but he strikes his effort very wide. I expected better from the Mexican. Much better. But wait, there's more...

  37. 19:25:
DISALLOWED GOAL- Real Sociedad 0-0 Barcelona

Sociedad's Antoine Griezmann finds the net from Carlos Vela's cross, but referee David Fernandez Borbalan blows his whistle to award a free-kick for Sergio Busquets' earlier foul on David Zurutuza. Cripes!

  38.

Opta Jose: Real Sociedad are the only side to have beaten Barcelona more than once on home soil over the last four seasons (twice).

  39. 19:20:
    CLOSE!- Real Sociedad 0-0 Barcelona

Well, that was pretty. Pedro plays a lovely one-two with Andres Iniesta before side-footing his 16-yard shot wide of the Sociedad left-hand upright.

  40. 19:17:
    Real Sociedad 0-0 Barcelona
    Neymar

It's gone a wee bit quiet at the ol' Anoeta, which holds just over 32,000. Sociedad are defending well at the back and have kept their shape unlike Manchester City the other night.

  41. 19:15:
    German Bundesliga, German BundesligaDire Dortmund
    Dortmund's Roman Weidenfeller

Time for some scores from the Bundesliga. Remember when Borussia Dortmund were good? They were stuffed 3-0 at Hamburg - das ist schlecht.

    Here are the results:

    Nuremberg 2-1 Eintracht Braunschweig

    Hamburg SV 3-0 Borussia Dortmund

    Borussia Moenchengladbach 2-2 Hoffenheim

    Freiburg 2-4 Augsburg

    Stuttgart 1-2 Hertha Berlin

  42. 19:10:
    Real Sociedad 0-0 Barcelona

Neymar writhes around on the ground after he is nudged by Sociedad's Mikel Martinez. To describe that as 'theatrical' would be kind to the Brazilian.

  43. 19:07:
    Real Sociedad 0-0 Barcelona

I've just been told by my partner in European football crime - Jonathan Jurejko - that this is the first league game since 10 November that both Neymar and Lionel Messi have started together. So sweet.

  44. 19:05:
GOOD SAVE!- Real Sociedad 0-0 Barcelona

Decent save from Victor Valdes, low to his left, to prevent Antoine Griezmann's free-kick from creeping in.

  45. 19:04:
    Real Sociedad 0-0 Barcelona

Back to the action - Real Sociedad have an early free-kick. It's about 40 yards from goal.

Opta Jose: Real Sociedad are unbeaten in nine home league games (W6 D3), keeping a clean sheet in each of their last three.

  48. 19:00:
    KICK-OFF- Real Sociedad 0-0 Barcelona

We are under way at the Anoeta Stadium.

  49. 18:59:
Real Sociedad v Barcelona (19:00 GMT)

So there you go. Sociedad, who were dumped out of the Copa del Rey by Barca in the semi-finals, will only have to contend with an in-form Messi and Brazilian forward Neymar this evening.

They are obviously no mugs - sixth in the table and four points shy of a top-four Champions League spot.

Both Frenchman Antoine Griezmann, who has scored 14 goals in the league this season, and Mexico forward Carlos Vela, who has 10, both start for the home side.

    This could be quite tasty.

  50. 18:55:
    LINE-UPS- Real Sociedad v Barcelona (19:00 GMT)

Real Sociedad XI: Bravo, Mikel, Elustondo, Markel, Inigo, Griezmann, Vela, Canales, Zurutuza, Jose Angel, Zaldua

Barcelona XI: Valdes, Montoya, Pique, Pedro, Iniesta, Messi, Neymar, Bartra, Sergio Busquets, Song and Adriano

  51. 18:54:

The teams are in. Good luck Sociedad.

  52. 18:53:
Real Madrid move to top of La Liga
Real Madrid's Gareth Bale celebrates his goal

Earlier today, Gareth Bale scored an absolute screamer as Real Madrid defeated Elche 3-0 to move three points clear at the top of La Liga.

Asier Illarramendi, formerly of Sociedad, opened the scoring before the Bale classic and an Isco goal completed a satisfying, and rare, Saturday afternoon outing for Los Blancos.

Barcelona are now second with 60 points, with Atletico Madrid, who play Osasuna on Sunday, third, also on the same number of points.

  53. 18:50:
Real Sociedad v Barcelona (19:00 GMT)
    Neymar and Lionel Messi

What did you think of the "worst Barcelona in years", Jose?

Former Real Madrid manager Mourinho uttered that rather incendiary line before Tata Martino's men comfortably defeated Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad on Tuesday.

This is a Barcelona side who came into this weekend's fixtures at the top of La Liga and who have been without their talisman Lionel Messi for chunks of the season so far.

They also secured a Copa del Rey final date against Real Madrid two weeks ago and look set to progress into the quarters of the Champions League.

I wonder if Jose's Chelsea would fancy playing them?

Anyway, stay here for our live match: Real Sociedad v Barcelona (19:00 GMT)
