Danny Haynes' first goal for Hibernian earned Terry Butcher's men a point at Rugby Park to sustain their challenge for place in the Premiership's top six.
The on-loan Notts County striker's fine header cancelled out Rory McKenzie first-half strike for Kilmarnock.
Both goalscorers threatened to get a winner in the closing stages of the matches.
Haynes had a shot blocked by Manuel Pascali before Ben Williams saved bravely at the feet of McKenzie
The result takes Hibs level with sixth-place St Johnstone while Killie are five points behind.
It was the visitors who had the first effort, which came from last week's goal hero Tom Taiwo. But on this occasion his strike from the edge of the box flew wide.
Boyd had a left-foot shot from 20 yards that did not trouble the Hibs goal - but the striker's next major contribution certainly did as he provided the creativity for Killie' opener.
Controlling the ball and turning inside the centre circle Boyd picked out McKenzie with an intricate pass inside Ryan McGivern.
Haynes brought Hibs level in the second half
McKenzie latched onto it and from 14 yards on the angle and drilled slow into the far corner of the net.
As much as Hibs had more of the possession in the first half they were unable to create any real clear cut chances.
Haynes swerved a shot wide before a low driven cross from Lewis Stevenson found no takers as they looked for an equaliser.
But Haynes did level early in the second half when he adjusted superbly to head Sam Stanton's cross past Samson.
Moments later, Killie were appealing for a penalty when Boyd was grounded in a aerial challenge with Michael Nelson but referee Craig Thomson ignored the claims.
Stanton, with two goals in his last two matches, came close to adding another with a left-footed free-kick from 22 yards which dipped just over the crossbar.
As Alexei Eremenko tired, he was replaced by Michael Gardyne to inject a bit of pace to the Killie attack.
The substitute provided two fine deliveries into the Hibs box but Greg Kiltie and then Boyd failed to take advantage when the ball fell at their feet.
And neither Haynes nor McKenzie could add to their earlier goals meaning both sides had to settle for a point.
