Northampton remain at the bottom of the Football League as Fleetwood Town boosted their promotion chase.
The home side took the lead through Gareth Evans' calm strike but, after team-mate Jamille Matt headed over from a yard out, an equaliser looked likely.
The visitors' John Marquis was thwarted by Mark Roberts' vital block, but the away side then found another gear.
Evans added his second of the game when Jon Parkin chipped the ball to him at the back post.

Northampton Town manager Chris Wilder tells BBC Radio Northampton:
"I'll always give an honest assessment of how my teams plays. It was a little bit closer than the scoreline.
"We pushed a good team. I'll never be happy when we get beat, but we showed good signs.
"We've got three home games and we need to turn a decent performance into three points."
