Substitute Jack Redshaw rescued a point for Morecambe as they were held at home by League Two strugglers Portsmouth.
Jake Jervis gave the visitors the lead when he fired home from close range before the hosts levelled through skipper Mark Hughes's header.
Padraig Amond was then fouled by Marcos Painter in the box but Pompey stopper Trevor Carson saved Amond's spot kick.
Jervis restored the visitors' lead from close range before Redshaw's 12-yard strike squirmed under Carson.
The point means Portsmouth remain in trouble, just two points off the relegation zone, while Morecambe remain in play-off contention in ninth.
VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Portsmouth manager Richie Barker told BBC Radio Solent:
"I am [frustrated not to win] because I didn't see us under a great deal of threat in the second half, which was a real positive considering the conditions.
"The penalty save in the first half obviously changed the game a little bit, but certainly at 2-1 up, and the way that the goal came, it's disappointing.
"I'm obviously pleased for Jake [Jervis] because of his start and I thought his work ethic was excellent."
