Striker Gary Liggett makes switch to Dungannon Swifts

Striker Gary Liggett has left Ballymena United and signed a two-and-a-half year contract with Dungannon Swifts.

The former Lisburn Distillery, Glenavon and Portadown frontman was a year into his 18-month deal with the Sky Blues.

Liggett failed to make an impression at the Showgrounds and his first-team opportunities proved limited during the present campaign.

The Swifts have lost the services of on-loan Darren Boyce, who has been recalled by his club Coleraine.

Liggett joins another former Ballymena forward, James Costello, in Darren Murphy's squad at Stangmore Park.

Dungannon currently lie eighth in the Premiership table and face a trip to Seaview to play Crusaders in their next league game on Monday night.

Meanwhile Ballymena have signed former Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers goalkeeper Aaron Shanahan until the end of the season.
