AFC Telford top scorer Adam Farrell hit a hat-trick as the Bucks twice came from behind to beat Hednesford Town 5-3 and go top of Conference North.
After Nathan Blissett's early strike was cancelled out by Farrell's equaliser, Francino Francis put the Pitmen back in front before the break.
But, after Charlie Barnett levelled for a second time, Farrell and Mike Phenix put Telford 4-2 in front.
- Adam Farrell is the first player in the history of Wellington Town, Telford United and AFC Telford to hit a New Year's Day hat-trick
Blissett hit his second, but Farrell sealed victory with 10 minutes left.
"In a big game like that, a derby game, it's always good to score," Farrell told BBC Radio Shropshire. "And a hat-trick is even better."
Telford took advantage of leaders Solihull's postponement to go two points clear at the top - but only after a busy morning at the Bucks Head forking the waterlogged pitch to ensure that the game went ahead.
"You've got to dedicate victory to the fans," said Bucks boss Liam Watson. "Coming in at eight in the morning to get this game on is a tremendous effort. Days like this are the reason I came to Telford."
Farrell added: "Our quality shone through on a difficult pitch.
"Everyone dug in deep. The atmosphere was brilliant. The crowd got behind us and never doubted us and that was a real boost."
