Watford handed £5,000 FA fine for failing to control their players

Watford have been fined £5,000 by the Football Association for their players' failure to "conduct themselves in an orderly fashion" during the 1-1 draw at Ipswich Town on 21 December.

Visiting players surrounded referee Graham Scott after he awarded Ipswich a penalty, having adjudged that Gabriele Angella had handled in the area.

Defender Joel Ekstrand was booked for his protests by Mr Scott.

But the Championship club have now been handed a collective punishment.

Watford were fined the standard penalty of £5,000 for what the FA interpreted as "failing to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour."

After David McGoldrick scored the 73rd-minute spot-kick for Ipswich, Troy Deeney levelled late on for Watford in head coach Giuseppe Sannino's first match at the helm following the departure of Gianfranco Zola.
