Brentford will end 2013 top of League One following a comfortable 3-1 home win against Milton Keynes Dons - their 11th victory in 12 league games.
The Bees leapfrog Leyton Orient and Wolves, who drew 1-1 at Molineux.
Clayton Donaldson's powerful effort gave in-form Brentford the perfect start, before Sam Saunders set up Marcelo Trotta to make it 2-0.
Saunders scored from 20 yards to seal the win before Lee Hodson fired past David Button to net a consolation.
The margin of victory would have been greater, but for an excellent save by David Martin to deny Alan McCormack before the break and Trotta's volley flying wide.
Brentford have taken 34 points from the last 36 on offer to them, while the Dons remain in mid-table.
VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
MK Dons manager Karl Robinson told BBC Three Counties Radio:
"For the first hour we were poor. We looked lethargic, and slightly off it, although the last half hour we were sensational - how we moved the ball and tried to get back into the game.
"It's been a good month for us. I'll take that one defeat over a period of time, and hopefully over the next few months we can kick on again.
"I think we showed how fragile we were and how young we were today. But it takes nothing away from the month, it's been a good month, and there's still a lot more to come from us."
