Danny Lennon: St Mirren can't dwell on defeat

St Mirren boss Danny Lennon told his players not to dwell on the 4-0 defeat by Dundee United.

Two goals from Nadir Ciftci and further strikes from Ryan Gauld and Chris Erskine ended the Buddies three game unbeaten run in emphatic fashion.

And Lennon now wants to focus on getting back to winning ways next week when they host Ross County.

"This performance is very disappointing given what we had done in the previous three games," said Lennon.

Turkish striker Ciftci latched on to a long ball to fire United into the lead after 27 minutes, then doubled the hosts' advantage from the spot after winning a penalty.

Teenage prodigy Gauld and substitute Erskine added to the score-line in the second half with long-range efforts.

"I've told the players not to dwell on this," he said. "But from our point of view we have to do better which is pretty obvious.

"We huffed and puffed at times and didn't work as hard at keeping the ball as we have done in recent weeks.

"But we've given the players DVDs on the strengths and weaknesses to work on.

"We'll take this one on the chin and dust ourselves down ahead of the Ross County game next weekend. This was unlike us but it's important to move on.

"I felt sorry for Marian Kello in goal for us on his debut but he actually made some good saves so it's just a case of trying to forget about this one."
