  1. 2305:

And that's everything from me tonight. We will be back next weekend with another live text commentary of the top action from across the continent. In the meantime, make sure you keep across BBC Sport's European football page for all the latest news. See ya!

  2. 2258:

So it has been the day Gareth Bale says he has been waiting for all of his life - pulling on the iconic white shirt of Real Madrid for the first time. Real did not get the three points they craved, but the Welshman made it a day to remember for the right reasons with his first goal for the Spanish giants. How will things go for him from here? Time will tell.

Kiyonga: Forget Bale and Ronaldo the goalscorers, Diego Lopez is Real Madrid's man of the match.

  4. 2251:
    FULL-TIME- Villarreal 2-2 Real Madrid
    Giovani Dos Santos

So Gareth Bale may have enjoyed a goalscoring debut, but he was denied a winning start by another ex-Spurs striker Giovani Dos Santos. The Mexican's second-half strike, added to Cani's opener before the break, cancelled out Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo goals.

  5. 2248:
    FULL-TIME- Villarreal 2-2 Real Madrid

The home crowd are ecstatic with a hard-earned - and richly deserved - point as the final whistle goes in a fantastic game. Both teams extend their unbeaten La Liga starts to four games, but see their 100% winning records ended.

  6. 2247:
    Villarreal 2-2 Real Madrid

Whistles around El Madrigal as Real probe for a last-gasp winner. But the Villarreal defence holds firm as the visitors fail to prise them open.

  7. 2246:
INJURY TIME- Villarreal 2-2 Real Madrid

Villarreal look the likelier to net the three points as first goalscorer Cani storms forward in another home raid. He elects to pass to Nigerian forward Ikechukwu Uche, who is hounded out of possession by Sergio Ramos. Three minutes of injury time.

  8. 2242:
FINAL FIVE- Villarreal 2-2 Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo thumps a blistering strike towards goal and Villarreal goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo acrobatically dives to his left to deny the Portuguese forward. That will have stung his palms. Can anyone steal a winner?

Andrew Priestley: There's the reason why Diego Lopez is Real Madrid's current number one goalkeeper.

  10. 2237:
    CLOSE!- Villarreal 2-2 Real Madrid

Former Villarreal goalkeeper Diego Lopez is proving a real thorn in the side of his old club. Cani smashes a bullet-like low shot towards the bottom right corner, but Lopez flings himself across to push away. Cracking finale now - just under 10 minutes to go.

  11. 2234:
    Villarreal 2-2 Real Madrid

Luka Modric is desperately trying to become the third ex-Tottenham player to put his name on the scoresheet. The Croatian unleashes a fierce, swerving, strike which was always rising over the Villarreal crossbar.

    Gareth Bale

Matt Smith, Leeds, on text via 81111: Bale has the same goal to game ratio as Ronaldo. Equals?

  13. 2230:
    CLOSE!- Villarreal 2-2 Real Madrid

End to end stuff now. Real substitute Angel Di Maria shaves the Villarreal post with an exquisite curling effort from 20 yards, before Diego Lopez is called into action at the other end seconds later.

  14. 2227:
    Villarreal 2-2 Real Madrid

The Yellow Submarine fans are bouncing up and down in the home stands after Dos Santos's strike. I'm sure I can hear them singing along to the tune of the Beatles classic too. Great scenes.

  15. 2224:
GOAL- Villarreal 2-2 Real Madrid - Giovani Dos Santos (70 mins)

Indeed Villarreal are made of stern stuff! Gareth Bale is not the only ex-Tottenham forward to grab a goal tonight. Giovani Dos Santos's fierce shot beats Diego Lopez, who gets a slight touch, to hand Villarreal a deserved leveller.

  16. 2222:
    Villarreal 1-2 Real Madrid

Let's see what the Yellow Submarine are made of. Can the hosts find a way back into the match? Let's not forget the newly-promoted side have made a cracking start - winning all three of their previous matches.

  17. 2218:
GOAL- Villarreal 1-2 Real Madrid - Cristiano Ronaldo (63 mins)

A massive slice of luck for Real as Cristiano Ronaldo (who else?) puts them ahead for the first time this evening. He pounces on a loose ball after Karim Benzema's shot was parried and his initial shot rebounds off a defender and then his own legs before cannoning into the net. That's his 203rd goal in 203 games for Los Blancos. And he's not the best player in the world. Wow.

Kiyonga: Forget Woodgate, Bale has kick started his Real Madrid career with a goal. Its the first of many in my opinion‏.

Rob Ellis: Gareth Bale scored his first Real Madrid goal after 39 minutes of his debut. It took Cristiano Ronaldo just 35 mins in 2009.

  19. 2216:
Spanish La LigaSUBSTITUTION- Villarreal 1-1 Real Madrid

Yes it is the end of Gareth Bale's debut. The Welshman is replaced by Argentina winger Di Maria, who is introduced alongside Sami Khedira. The Germany midfielder enters the action in place of Asier Illarramendi.

  20. 2214:
Spanish La LigaVillarreal 1-1 Real Madrid

Real Madrid substitute Angel Di Maria is stripped off and ready to go. Is that the end of Gareth Bale's night? Remember it is his first start of the season and he must be lacking match fitness after not taking part in Tottenham's pre-season programme.

  21. 2211:
Spanish La LigaCLOSE!- Villarreal 1-1 Real Madrid

Another swift Villarreal counter attack almost sees the hosts regain the lead. Jonathan Pereira sees his close-range effort blocked, before the rebound falls at the feet of left-back Jaume Costa, who inexplicably fires wide of the target. Only he knows what he was doing up there. Big chance wasted.

  22. 2208:
Spanish La LigaVillarreal 1-1 Real Madrid

Gareth Bale goes close to grabbing a second debut goal as he fizzes a long range shot inches over the Villarreal crossbar. Plenty of possession from Real Madrid inside home territory, but they are yet to create another golden chance.

Ryan Lloyd: Re 2124: I'd play El-Neymar Rigby up top of the Beatles XI.

    Seán Hennessey: Doctor Robert-Lewandoswki.

keeleboy: Orient and Brentford could merge and become the Leyton Bees?

  24. 2203:
Spanish La LigaVillarreal 1-1 Real Madrid

Jeers and whistles rain down from the home fans as they unsuccessfully appeal for a penalty. The ball strikes Real Madrid defender Nacho's hand inside the area, but it bounced up after hitting his own foot. Would have been very unlucky if that had been given.

  25. 2200:
Spanish La LigaKICK-OFF- Villarreal 1-1 Real Madrid

The referee gives his whistle a short, sharp toot and that signals the start of the second half in Villarreal.

  26. 2158:
    Belgian Pro LeagueFULL-TIME

    Club Brugge 4-1 Lierse

    KV Kortrijk 3-0 KAA Gent

    Lokeren 3-0 Cercle Brugge

    Mons 1-1 Waasland-Beveren

    OH Leuven 0-0 Charleroi

  27. 2157:
    Belgian Pro League

Belgium football expert Gary Niblock: "On a big night for Spanish football, there were mixed fortunes for Belgium's two Spanish coaches.

"Ex-Villarreal boss Juan Carlos Garrido saw Club Brugge maintain their unbeaten status with a 3-1 win over Lierse, while KAA Gent, coached by Victor Fernandez, formerly of Betis and Zaragoza, crashed to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of a Kortrijk side.

"Lokeren swept Cercle Brugge aside with ease while Mons and Waasland-Beveren both remain winless after a 1-1 draw."

  28. 2155:
    Villarreal 1-1 Real Madrid
    Gareth Bale

Here it is - Gareth Bale's trademarke 'heart' celebration. Wonder how often that will get busted out this season?

Former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker Michael Owen: A few people were slaughtering Bale after 30 mins. Why would anyone want him to struggle?

Will Flint: Re 2124. Safe to say the Savoy Truffles would play at Penny Lane.

Oliver Jones: Why not just create a Beatles XI?! Love Me Freddy Adu at left midfield, with I Want To Hold Your Ebbe Sand up top for starters.

Neil Sharma: I chose a Beatles theme for our Fantasy League after World Cup 2010. Best team name was Tshabalala Hey Jude. Wish it was mine.

  31. 2148:
Italian Serie AFULL-TIME- Torino 2-2 AC Milan

A controversial end as Torino are left devastated by Milan's late comeback. The hosts looked on course for their first win over their visitors for 12 years before late goals from Sulley Muntari and Mario Balotelli steal an unlikely point. Torino are furious with the officials, claiming Balotelli was offside for the first goal and insisting the second should never have been a penalty.

  32. 2145:
Spanish La LigaHALF-TIME- Villarreal 1-1 Real Madrid

It's not been a great first half for his new team, but the world's most expensive player Gareth Bale must be happy with his debut goal. It wasn't the prettiest, but he sniffed out that chance like a police dog hunting for evidence. This game is delicately poised at the break.

  33. 2142:
Spanish La LigaVillarreal 1-1 Real Madrid

Bale is starting to play with a swagger now. He flies past a Villarreal defender before trying to pick out Luka Modric with an outside-of-the-boot cross. The home side clear before they stop another teasing run from the Welshman.

Alan GH: The trusty right foot of Bale.

Ben Aitkenhead: Wow. Bale scores on debut!! What a moment.

Like a Villas-Boas: Does one tap in really make up for the 40 minutes of playing pretty poor? I doubt Madrid fans would think like that.

  35. 2139:
GOAL- Villarreal 1-1 Real Madrid - Gareth Bale (38 mins)

What did I just say about Gareth Bale (see 2137)? The Welshman bags a goal on his debut, sliding in Daniel Carvajal's low cross from the right, to haul Real level. Dream stuff for the 24-year-old.

  36. 2138:
Italian Serie AGOAL- Torino 2-2 AC Milan - Mario Balotelli (93 mins)

AC Milan get out of jail as Mario Balotelli surely earns them a point from the penalty spot. The Italian calmly converts to complete Milan's comeback.

  37. 2137:
    Villarreal 1-0 Real Madrid
    Gareth Bale

We have not seen much from the £85m man yet. Gareth Bale is having to put in a real shift on that right flank as Real continue to be under the cosh. But it means his attacking chances have been limited.

Alex Meakin: Re 2114. Lucy in the Sky with Rushden and Diamonds?

  39. 2135:
PENALTY - AC MILAN- Torino 2-1 AC Milan
  40. 2133:
Spanish La LigaVillarreal 1-0 Real Madrid

Real Madrid create their best chance of the game. Sergio Ramos, up for a corner, thumps a free header goalwards but his effort is repelled by Villarreal stopper Sergio Asenjo. Ramos then turns provider as he picks out Ronaldo with a pinpoint 50-yard pass. But the Portuguese superstar horribly miscues his header. Yes, you did read that correctly.

  41. 2131:
Italian Serie AGOAL- Torino 2-1 AC Milan - Sulley Muntari (88 mins)

Chaos here in Torino as the visitors grab a lifeline. Sulley Muntari's scuffed strike bobbled into the corner of the net, with Mario Balotelli in an offside position.

The hosts are furious but the goal is awarded as Milan chase an unlikely equaliser.

  42. 2129:
Spanish La LigaVillarreal 1-0 Real Madrid

And just to prove the point, Diego Lopez makes an excellent double save to deny Jonathan Pereira once again. Those two are having a brilliant personal dual.

  43. 2128:

We were just having that exact debate in the office Jamie. Diego Lopez has been excellent since replacing Iker Casillas. We'll put to you the punters - what do you reckon?

  44. 2126:

Jamie Matthews: A question for those more in the know I suppose. Is Diego Lopez really a better keeper than Casillas?!

  45. 2124:
Spanish La LigaVillarreal 1-0 Real Madrid

That goal was certainly deserved for the Yellow Submarine, which incidentally is my favourite nickname in world football. It is not my favourite Beatles song, however. Perhaps more football teams should be nicknamed after Beatles songs? I would call my team the Savoy Truffles.

  46. 2120:
Spanish La LigaGOAL- Villarreal 1-0 Real Madrid - Cani (20 mins)

Real Madrid might have a stronger attacking artillery than a small nation, but they can't defend. Not on this evidence anyway. Pepe fails to deal with a straightforward throughball and the ball bobbles around the area until falling into the path of Cani who slams past Diego Lopez from 12 yards.

Shohidur Rahman: Such an anti climax when you have Ronaldo, Bale and Isco and up front it's.......Benzema.

Alex Meakin: A Tottenham export is shining in the Real Madrid vs Villareal. No, not that one, Gio Dos Santos of course.

Hiten: I know Real Madrid are excited about Bale but has Carlo Ancelotti forgotten to teach his side how to defend?

  48. 2118:
Spanish La LigaVillarreal 0-0 Real Madrid

Real Madrid win a free-kick in a dangerous position on the edge of the Villarreal penalty area. Bale tentatively enquires with Cristiano Ronaldo, like the new boy on his first day at school going up to the cool kid in the class, whether he can have a pop. But Ronaldo pulls rank and promptly fires over the crossbar. Maybe next time Gareth lad.

  49. 2115:
Spanish La LigaCLOSE!- Villarreal 0-0 Real Madrid

Villarreal have made a bright start and Jonathan Pereira is denied again by Real Madrid goalkeeper Diego Lopez. Pereira is stood in acres of space at the far post and thinks he is going to score as prods goalwards. But he was not banking on the efforts of Lopez, who raced out to brilliantly block.

  50. 2112:
Italian Serie AGOAL- Torino 2-0 AC Milan - Alessio Cerci (71mins)

Torino are well on course for their first win against AC Milan for 12 years, as Alessio Cerci calmly converts with the visitors are caught on the break.

Khalid: All the best to Bale tonight, have to reluctantly say he deserves to play for Madrid, even though we will miss him big time. ‏

  52. 2110:
Spanish La LigaVillarreal 0-0 Real Madrid

Gareth Bale gets the ball on his favoured left foot for the first time inside the Villarreal box and tries to pick out Cristiano Ronaldo at the far post. But the home defence remains sturdy as they clear.

  53. 2108:
Spanish La LigaVillarreal 0-0 Real Madrid

More comedy defending almost gifts Villarreal another clearcut chance. Isco is carelessly dispossessed and his defence fail in their attempts to clear before Daniel Carvajal races across to sort out the almighty mess.

  54. 2106:
Spanish La LigaCLOSE!- Villarreal 0-0 Real Madrid

Gareth Bale links up neatly with ex-Spurs team-mate Luka Modric before the move breaks down and Villarreal launch a swift counter. Awful defending from Pepe allows home forward Jonathan Pereira to race clear but he is denied by Real keeper Diego Lopez.

  55. 2104:

How will Gareth Bale fare at the Bernabeu? Will he have the success of Steve McManaman or the woes of Jonathan Woodgate?

Go to the BBC Sport Facebook page to share your view on whether you think Gareth Bale can help Real Madrid capture the title this season.

  56. 2102:
Spanish La LigaLINE-UPS- Villarreal 0-0 Real Madrid

Villarreal: Asenjo, Mario, Musacchio, Dorado, J.Costa, Cani, Bruno, Trigueros, Aquino; Giovani, Pereira.

Real Madrid: Diego Lopez, Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale, Carvajal, Nacho, Modric, Isco, Illarramendi. Subs: Casillas, Khedira, Casemiro, Jesé, Morata, Di Maria.

  57. 2100:
    KICK-OFF- Villarreal 0-0 Real Madrid

Gareth Bale's Real Madrid career is up and running. The £85m man starts on the right of a three-man attacking midfield alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Isco. Not a bad trio eh?

  58. 2059:
Villarreal v Real Madrid (2100 BST)

Of course, ex-Leeds and Newcastle defender Woodgate endured a torrid Real Madrid debut, scoring a spectacular own goal and then being sent off against Athletic Bilbao. Is that the worst debut ever? Let us know using #bbceurofooty on Twitter and via text on 81111.

Brent Peeters: Wonder if Bale is thinking of Jon Woodgate tonight?

  60. 2057:
Spanish La LigaVillarreal v Real Madrid (2100 BST)
    Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale is clearly a man who likes to create history. Not only is he the world's costliest footballer, Bale is also the first Welshman to pull on the famous Los Blancos shirt. And he is the 13th British player, following in the footsteps of David Beckham, Michael Owen and Steve McManaman, to represent the nine-time European champions. Clearly he won't want his debut to mirror Jonathan Woodgate's Real bow in 2005...

  61. 2055:
Spanish La LigaFULL-TIME- Barcelona 3-2 Sevilla

Spanish football writer Andy West at the Nou Camp: "What a dramatic finale and lucky, lucky Barca. Sevilla's players and staff are furious with referee Cesar Muniz, surrounding him upon the final whistle, and that's understandable enough because they probably deserved something from the game - the decision to disallow Juan Cala's goal will take some explaining, for starters. But credit Barca for not giving up, and that scrambled winner from Alexis Sanchez could prove very important in May."

Jon, via text on 81111: Excited about seeing Bale start, but also about Illaramendi - first appearance and keeping Casemiro and Khedira on the bench.

  63. 2052:
Spanish La LigaFULL-TIME- Barcelona 3-2 Sevilla

It's all over! What an incredible finish at the Nou Camp as leaders Barca extend their 100% winning start to a fourth game - just. Over to you Real Madrid and Gareth Bale...

  64. 2051:
Italian Serie AGOAL- Torino 1-0 AC Milan - Danilo D'Ambrosio (47 mins)

A shock for AC Milan as wingback Danilo D'Ambrosio springs the offside trap to beat Christian Abbiati at the near post.

  65. 2050:
Spanish La LigaGOAL- Barcelona 3-2 Sevilla - Alexis Sanchez (90+4 mins)

Heartbreak for Sevilla! The Catalan crowd erupts with jubilation as Alexis Sanchez pokes in from close range. Superb tenacious work from Lionel Messi, who took on a host of Sevilla defenders before pulling back from the byline for the Chilean to score.

  66. 2049:
    CLOSE!- Barcelona 2-2 Sevilla

On-loan Chelsea midfielder Marko Marin flashes a shot across goal as Sevilla hunt a shock winner.

  67. 2047:
GOAL- Barcelona 2-2 Sevilla - Coke (90 mins)

Yes. Yes they can! A stunned silence around the Nou Camp as right-back Coke stylishly sidefoots the visitors level. But there will be an inquest conducted by Barcelona boss Tato Martino into how Coke was allowed so much space inside the penalty area at another Sevilla corner.

  68. 2046:
    INJURY TIME- Barcelona 2-1 Sevilla

Another Sevilla set-piece. Another decent Ivan Rakitic delivery. Another Barcelona clearance. Can Sevilla snatch an equaliser?

Sam Woods: Watching the Barça game. Got to say, slightly worried looking at Neymar. He does not look very well, at all. Skin & bone.

  70. 2044:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 2-1 Sevilla

Spanish football writer Andy West at the Nou Camp: "Messi's goal appeared to have settled things but Sevilla definitely deserve their goal. Rakitic is a fine striker of the ball and he was always going to take that chance. Still plenty of time for Sevilla to score again and the game is really stretched at the moment - a lot of tired legs out there after the exertions and travelling of the international break. From the tension around the ground when Sevilla attack, Barca fans know it's game on."

  71. 2041:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 2-1 Sevilla

Sevilla defender Juan Cala is a brute in the opposing penalty area when he marches forward for a corner. The big centre-half climbs above Cesc Fabregas to meet another dangerous set-piece, but sees his header fly over the Barca crossbar. A collective sigh of relief around the Nou Camp.

  72. 2039:
Spanish La LigaVillarreal v Real Madrid (2100 BST)

BBC Sport's Alex South in Villarreal: "So this is where Gareth Bale starts his Real career. Not exactly the most luxurious surroundings for the worlds most expensive player. El Madrigal has seen better days, but the 24,000 yellow submarine army I'm sure will make Bale feel welcome."

  73. 2036:
Spanish La LigaGOAL- Barcelona 2-1 Sevilla - Ivan Rakitic (79 mins)

Oh hello. Sevilla are determined to prove me wrong (see 2032). They are back in the game with 10 minutes to play as skipper Ivan Rakitic smartly drills in a low shot from inside the Barca box. Game on!

  74. 2035:
Italian Serie AHALF-TIME- Torino 0-0 AC Milan

AC Milan have so far been frustrated on Kaka's return. The visitors have had the best of the game but Torino's defence has held up well.

  75. 2032:
Spanish La LigaGOAL- Barcelona 2-0 Sevilla - Lionel Messi (75 mins)

The Spanish champions may have ridden their luck against plucky visitors, but it looks to be game, set and match now. Neymar combines beautifully with Lionel Messi, who has the simplest of tasks to convert the Brazilian's square pass from close range.

  76. 2028:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 1-0 Sevilla

Spanish football writer Andy West at the Nou Camp: "There's a fair amount of bewilderment in the press box over referee Cesar Munis's decision to disallow that goal from Sevilla - nobody is quite sure exactly what "foul" he saw. But the visitors should put it out of their heads and stay positive because there's something here for them. Barca have lost their way and Sevilla are looking increasingly dangerous. An (allowed) equaliser wouldn't be a shock."

  77. 2024:

As Gareth Bale gets ready for his Real Madrid debut, we have looked back at other British footballers who have played abroad.

Wales' John Charles became a legend at Juventus, while Steve McManaman and Paul Lambert enjoyed Champions League success, but others found the experience less enjoyable.

    Mark Hughes

There is some brilliant archive footage in our video, including clips of Kevin Keegan and Glenn Hoddle fancying themselves as pop stars. But, beware, there is some offending material in there - namely Mark Hughes' mid-1980s mullet.

  78. 2020:
Spanish La LigaDISALLOWED GOAL- Barcelona 1-0 Sevilla

Sevilla send the Nou Camp into a state of shock as Juan Cala heads the visitors level from a corner. Or does he? No, he doesn't - the referee has ruled out Cala's thumping effort for an apparent push. Very harsh in my opinion. But that's a warning to Barca that this game is not wrapped up yet.

  79. 2013:

Gareth Bale starts for Real Madrid in his La Liga debut at Villarreal.

  80. 2011:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 1-0 Sevilla

Spanish football expert Andy West at the Nou Camp: "Neymar is entering dangerous territory here…he's outshining Lionel Messi in the Nou Camp. And that's unheard of - possibly even illegal. The Brazilian has been easily Barca's most threatening player and one piece of particularly flashy skill - a clever dragback turn to leave Coke for dead in the first half - had the Barca faithful ooh-ing in an appreciative tone normally only reserved for Messi. The only thing missing from his performance so far is a goal…but give it time."

  81. 2007:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 1-0 Sevilla

Neymar is getting some rough treatment from Sevilla's hatchetmen, who are clearly intent on booting him out of the game. The Brazilian wins another free-kick deep in Sevilla territory, before Lionel Messi sees his inviting set-piece nudged out for a corner.

  82. 2003:
Spanish La LigaKICK-OFF- Barcelona 1-0 Sevilla
    Danni Alves

Sevilla get proceedings back underway at the Nou Camp as they aim to find a way back into this match against the Spanish champions. If I was a betting man I wouldn't be chucking a tenner on wiping out Dani Alves' opener.

  83. 2001:
Italian Serie ATorino 0-0 AC Milan

Rossoneri legend Kaka is back in a Milan shirt and goes close with an early strike in his second Serie A debut. Still goalless in Turin after a quarter of an hour.

Joe Harty: Best dressed manager has to be Coventry's Steven Pressley, sporting a waistcoat whatever the weather!

  85. 1956:
    Spanish La LigaBALE'S BOW

In little over an hour's time, Gareth Bale is expected to be part of Real Madrid's matchday squad for their trip to Villarreal.

I think it is safe to say that Spurs fans will miss the Welshman - especially when he is capable of scoring sensational goals like these. I'm sure he would settle for one of these strikes tonight. In fact, I'm sure he would settle for a two-yard tap-in tonight.

  86. 1953:
    German Bundesliga
    Bastian Oczipka

Turns out that a name familiar to Chelsea and Wigan fans has been making the headlines in Germany today - and not for the right reasons.

Franco Di Santo, who spent five years in English football, was handed a straight red card while playing for new club Werder Bremen after kung fu kicking Eintracht Franfurt's Bastian Oczipka in the head. Daniel 'Karate Kid' Larusso would be proud of that one....

  87. 1951:
Spanish La LigaHALF-TIME- Barcelona 1-0 Sevilla

Spanish football writer Andy West at the Nou Camp: "Enjoyable first half. Barcelona just about deserve to be in front but Sevilla have shown attacking intent and can´t be written off, although they really needed the half-time whistle. Adriano and Alves combined for the goal but Barca´s other Brazilian is the star of the show - Neymar has been brilliant at times. One prediction for the second half: Sevilla will have a player sent off (probably for fouling Neymar)."

And probably Stephane Mbia, who you may recall is on loan from Queens Park Rangers. The big central midfielder is already in the referee's notepad and was lucky to avoid a second yellow card in the last few moments.

  88. 1948:
Spanish La LigaHALF-TIME- Barcelona 1-0 Sevilla

Gerard Pique elegantly strides out of the Barcelona defence with the ball before superbly picking out team-mate Cristian Tello in an advanced position. The young forward wriggles into space and unleashes a shot from a tight angle which is parried out by Sevilla keeper Beto. Good chance, but it remains 1-0 as the referee blows the half-time whistle.

  89. 1944:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 1-0 Sevilla

Spanish football writer Andy West at the Nou Camp: "Dani Alves with a far post header…? Who said Barca don't have a Plan B?! It was a nice finish but the goal was made by the wonderful cross from Adriano, who really is an unsung hero for Barcelona. He can play anywhere in defence and probably suffers from that versatility - he's seen as a "filling in" player rather than being able to establish himself in one position. But he's extremely dependable and has a fantastic long-range shot too."

  90. 1942:
Belgian Pro LeagueAnderlecht 5-0 KV Mechelen

Belgium football expert Gary Niblock: "The Belgian champions tore hapless Mechelen to shreds with four goals before the break. Belgian football's record buy Aleksandar Mitrovic looks a snip at €5m and he scored twice on his home debut. The equally outstanding Matias Suarez and Frank Acheampong were also on the scoresheet, as was USA international Sacha Kljestan. Perhaps more importantly with an eye on Benfica next Tuesday, a new-look defence kept a clean sheet but first choice goalkeeper Silvio Proto will return."

  91. 1939:
Dutch EredivisieFULL-TIME- Ajax 2-1 PEC Zwolle

Shock early leaders of the Eredivisie PEC Zwolle crash to their first defeat of the season by Ajax. Thulani Serero's 72nd-minute goal and Maikel van der Werff's own goal four minutes later were enough for the hosts, despite Gioannis Gravenbeek's injury-time consolation.

  92. 1935:
Spanish La LigaGOAL- Barcelona 1-0 Sevilla - Dani Alves (36 mins)

The pressure has been mounting on the Sevilla goal - and the home side finally make their breakthrough through right-back Dani Alves. The Brazilian ghosts in to space at the far post to meet Adriano's curling left-wing cross with a firm downward header. Then he makes a point of not celebrating against his former club by standing in front of the joyous home fans with his arms crossed and a stern look etched across his face.

  93. 1933:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 0-0 Sevilla

A moment of breathtaking brilliance from Neymar draws a huge gasp and plenty of cheers from the Nou Camp crowd. The Brazilian's cheeky flick between his own legs leaves a Sevilla defender for dead on the touchline before he is unceremoniously dumped to the ground by a vengeful opponent. Lionel Messi pulls rank to take the free-kick on the edge of the Sevilla area, only to fire over the bar.

James 'Pidge' Clewer: Rodgers always looks the pinnacle of smartness when it comes to post-match interviews. It's not the suit, it's how you wear it!

    Mithun: Brendan Rodgers...all black suit!

  95. 1927:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 0-0 Sevilla

Spanish football writer Andy West: "It was Catalunya's National Day earlier on Wednesday and an estimated 1.6 million people took to the streets to campaign for Catalan independence from Spain. No surprise then that the chants for "Independencia", which the Barca fans roll out after 17 minutes and 14 seconds of every half of every game (commemorating the loss of independence in 1714), were a fair bit louder than normal tonight."

  96. 1924:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 0-0 Sevilla

Best opportunity of the match for Barcelona. Cristian Tello forces Sevilla goalkeeper Beto into a smart stop low to his right. Pretty even at the Nou Camp so far.

  97. 1923:
    German Bundesliga
    Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben

Bayern Munich briefly moved top of the Bundesliga with a 2-0 home win over Hannover 96 earlier.

Mario Mandzukic gave the European champions the lead after the break with Franck Ribery doubling the lead after being teed up by Arjen Robben.

Elsewhere, Kevin-Prince Boateng scored his first goal for Schalke 04 on Saturday to earn his team a 1-0 win at Mainz 05.

  98. 1921:
German BundesligaFULL-TIME- Borussia Dortmund 6-2 Hamburg

Borussia Dortmund return to the top of the Bundesliga after a second-half destruction of Hamburg. Goals from Pierre Aubameyang (2), Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marco Reus and Robert Lewandoswki ensured the hosts made it five wins from five this season.

  99. 1916:
Spanish La LigaSUBSTITUTION- Barcelona 0-0 Sevilla

Early blow for Barcelona as injured left-back Jordi Alba trudges off to be replaced by Adriano. The Spain left-back crashed to the turf under an innocuous-looking challenge and Barca gaffer Tata Martino takes no chances by withdrawing him.

Jim Hughes: Re best-dressed managers. You can't beat Exeter manager Paul Tisdale and his Ted Baker cravat.

Earlier (1807) we asked for your suggestions of the best dressed football managers. No-one has put forward the name of Tony Pulis yet...

  101. 1912:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 0-0 Sevilla

Spanish football writer Andy West at the Nou Camp: "Bright start from Barca, with Neymar particularly lively on the left wing. It's a blustery evening in Barcelona but the steep banks of the Nou Camp stands (and the home team's habit of playing the ball along the ground) are ensuring that's not affecting the playing conditions. It will be interesting to see how the pitch holds up - it was re-laid just a few days ago after the installation of undersoil heating."

  102. 1910:
German BundesligaGOAL- Borussia Dortmund 6-2 Hamburg - Robert Lewandowski (81 mins)
    Pierre Aubameyang

Hamburg look to have given up the ghost as Robert Lewandowski heads home his second goal of the game. Dortmund were slightly nervy early in the game but Lewandoswki's brace had added to to the double scored by Pierre Aubameyang (pictured).

AC Milan midfielder Kaka: Wonderful coming back. Playing again in the Italian league is simply awesome! #weareacmilan

  104. 1907:
Italian Serie ATEAM NEWS- Torino v AC Milan (1945 BST)

How have we got to 19:07 without me even mentioning returning AC Milan hero Kaka? I can only apologise. The Brazil midfielder (and 2007 World Player of the Year no less), who moved back to the Rosseneri from Real Madrid on deadline day, is named in Massamiliano Allegri's starting XI for the trip to Torino.

  105. 1904:
German BundesligaGOAL- Borussia Dortmund 5-2 Hamburg - Marco Reus (74 mins)

Dortmund are now running away with it as Marco Reus converts to the delight of the home crowd.

  106. 1902:
German BundesligaGOAL- Borussia Dortmund 4-2 Hamburg - Robert Lewandowski (72 mins)

Poland international Robert Lewandowski has surely sealed Dortmund's fifth straight win of the season with a calm side-footed finish after approach play from Marco Reus.

  107. 1901:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 0-0 Sevilla

Things have kicked off at the Nou Camp, where Barcelona instantly find their passing rhythm against Sevilla. I suspect we are going to see plenty of Barca possession tonight...

  108. 1858:
    Spanish La LigaBALE'S BOW

Manchester United manager David Moyes declined to confirm or deny if the Premier League champions launched a bid to buy Gareth Bale before the Welshman's record £85m move to Real Madrid.

After his side's 2-0 win against Crystal Palace, Moyes said: "I have said many times we are always bidding for the best players."

Speaking on Friday, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said: "I know that Tottenham received a higher bid for Gareth Bale than the one from Real Madrid."

And French newspaper L'Equipe claimed that bid came from Manchester United but Bale, who is expecting to make his Real debut in about two hours' time, personally insisted on joining the Spanish giants.

  109. 1855:
German BundesligaGOAL- Borussia Dortmund 3-2 Hamburg - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (65 mins)

Dortmund edge back ahead in this humdinger of a Bundesliga match, courtesy of summer signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabon international fires across Hamburg goalkeeper Rene Adler to send the noisy home fans into delirium.

  110. 1853:
Italian Serie AFULL-TIME- Inter Milan 1-1 Juventus
    Mauro Emanuel Icardi

All over at the San Siro - and it is honours even between these two Italian heavyweights. Recent signing Mauro Icardi fired Inter ahead with his first touch, only for Arturo Vidal to equaliser moments later to earn Juve a deserved draw.

  111. 1851:
Spanish La LigaBarcelona v Sevilla (1900 BST)
    Nou Camp

Spanish football writer Andy West: "Notable point from the team news is Neymar getting his first league start at the Nou Camp. With Lionel Messi and young speedster Cristian Tello also in the front three, there's no shortage of flair for Sevilla's defence to deal with.

"Tello has only played 32 minutes of league football so far this season, so this is a good opportunity to nudge himself closer to fellow forwards Alexis Sanchez and Pedro in manager Tata Martino's thinking."

  112. 1849:
Italian Serie ACLOSE!- Inter Milan 1-1 Juventus

Juventus almost snatch a dramatic winner! Great work down the left from Carlos Tevez to pick out Arturo Vidal, whose downward header is clawed to safety by Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic. But the ball falls invitingly to Mauricio Isla - and he blazes into the side-netting.

  113. 1847:
Spanish La LigaLINE-UPS- Barcelona v Sevilla (1900 BST)

Barcelona: ‏Valdes, Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Alba, Sergio, Xavi, Iniesta, Tello, Messi, Neymar. Subs: Pinto, Montoya, Adriano, Song, Dos Santos, Cesc, Alexis

Sevilla: Beto, Coke Cala, Navarro, Alberto, Cristoforo, Mbia, Rakitic, Jairo, Vitolo y Gameiro. Subs: Varas, Figueiras, Marin, Bacca, Maduro, Rabello, Trochowski.

  114. 1844:
FINAL FIVE- Inter Milan 1-1 Juventus

Juventus coach Antonio Conte frantically taps the face of his smart Swiss watch as the title holders probe for a dramatic winner. Both Inter and Juve's 100% winning records look set to end unless someone pops with a late goal at the San Siro.

Ben Aitkenhead: No debate on best dressed coach - Pep Guardiola, convincingly.

Boris O. Popov: Re best dressed managers. Guardiola, Mancini, AVB, Di Canio, Conte (Klopp can boss a suit and a track suit look as well).

Chris Hartley: Barca's slide from sharp suited Pep to stylish Vilanova and now Martinos green t-shirts is a shame!

  116. 1841:
Spanish La LigaBarcelona v Sevilla (1900 BST)

Spanish football writer Andy West: "Other than Real Madrid, Sevilla were the last La Liga team to come away from the Nou Camp with a point - they sneaked a goalless draw here in October 2011 after a last-minute penalty miss by Lionel Messi.

"But the Andalusian team's form on the road was nothing less than pathetic last season, and they come into tonight's game on the back of 17 away league games without a win. Anything other than a comfortable Barca victory would be a shock."

  117. 1839:
GOAL- Borussia Dortmund 2-2 Hamburg - Heiko Westermann (49 mins)

Game on in Germany as, despite hardly being the game, Hamburg are level. In their first attack of the second half, Heiko Westermann rises to head home Rafael van der Vaart's free-kick from close range. Very sloppy from Dortmund.

  118. 1837:
German BundesligaKICK-OFF- Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Hamburg

We're back under way in Dortmund as the hosts look to put this match out of Hamburg's sight having not made enough of their first-half dominance.

  119. 1834:
GOAL- Inter Milan 1-1 Juventus - Arturo Vidal (75 mins)

But the hosts' lead last for barely two minutes. Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal pounces on a loose ball inside the Inter penalty area to sweep in Juve's leveller. And the Italian champions almost snatch a lead when ex-Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez flashes a shot past the post. Game on.

  120. 1832:
GOAL- Inter Milan 1-0 Juventus - Mauro Icardi (73 mins)

What. An. Impact! Substitute Mauro Icardi puts Inter ahead with his first touch.

  121. 1830:
    German BundesligaFULL-TIME

    Augsburg 2-1 Freiburg

    Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 Wolfsburg

    Bayern Munich 2-0 Hannover

    Mainz 0-1 Schalke

    Werder Bremen 0-3 Eintracht Frankfurt

    Hertha Berlin 0-1 Stuttgart (Friday)

  122. 1826:
    German Bundesliga

Dortmund know they will climb back to the top of the Bundesliga if they manage to see off Hamburg in the later kick-off. Earlier, there were six other matches, including Bayern Munich's win over Hannover. Shall we have a recap? Aye, go on then...

  123. 1822:
German BundesligaHALF-TIME- Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Hamburg
    Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund have controlled the first half against Hamburg but only go in at the break with a goal advantage thanks to Zhi Gin Lam's stunning strike. Goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan had put the hosts 2-0 up.

David Guest: Re debuts. In my very first Sunday league game, our team lost 25-1...we did go 1-0 up though!

Abdullah Mulla: I had a brilliant debut in a sunday league, came off the bench to score two- and get booked!

  125. 1818:
Spanish La LigaBarcelona v Sevilla (1900 BST)

Spain midfielder Xavi returns to the Barcelona side after being rested for the 3-2 win against Valencia. Lionel Messi and Neymar both start.

  126. 1815:
    Inter Milan 0-0 Juventus

Inter are enjoying a good spell against the Serie A title holders - and should be ahead. Veteran Argentina midfielder Esteban Cambiasso uses that wand of a left foot to slice open the Juve defence with a lofted pass which can only be tamely headed straight at Gianluigi Buffon by an unmarked Rodrigo Palacio.

So while Ancelotti keeps us all in suspense, I want to hear your debut tales. Ever had a dream first game? Or an absolute stinker?

Don't be afraid to share your experiences - get involved by using #bbceurofooty on Twitter or via text on 81111. Don't forget to put your names on those texts though, or you will be wasting your hard-earned 10p.

  128. 1809:

World-record signing Gareth Bale will make his debut for Real Madrid against Villarreal later - but will he start?

The Wales international has not played a full match yet this season because of a foot injury, but did manage 32 minutes in his country's 3-0 defeat by Serbia on Tuesday.

"Bale will travel and will play. I'm not sure if he will start or come off from the bench," says Real boss Carlo Ancelotti.

    Oh Carlo, you big tease...

  129. 1807:
    KICK-OFF- Inter Milan 0-0 Juventus

The second half is back under way as Juve make the early running against their hosts.

    Antonio Conte

Juventus manager Antonio Conte certainly is a picture of sartorial elegance as he marshals the San Siro touchline. He's got a cracking tan too. I like to see a manager rocking out the formal attire, but some prefer the Tony Pulis tracksuit look. Who do you think is the best dressed manager out there? And how about the worst? Tell us using #bbceurofooty on Twitter or via text on 81111.

Josh Pain: Mazzarri and Conte early contenders for suavest manager in Europe award 2014.

  132. 1758:
German BundesligaGOAL- Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Hamburg - Zhi Gin Lam (26 mins)

Hamburg are back in the game thanks to a stunning 20-yard strike from Zhi Gin Lam. It his first senior club for the club and what a stage to produce it.

  133. 1757:
    Russian Premier League

Third-placed Zenit St Petersburg lead 1-0 against Terek as Andrey Arshavin rolls back the years by feeding Alexander Kerzhakov for the opener. Shame Arsenal fans didn't see much of that at the Emirates, eh?

  134. 1754:
German BundesligaGOAL- Borussia Dortmund 2-0 Hamburg - Henrikh Mkhitaryan (22 mins)

What a start for last season's runners-up as they take a giant step towards a fifth consecutive victory. A neat build-up involving Robert Lewandowski saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan finish well.

  135. 1752:
Italian Serie AInter Milan 0-0 Juventus

The whistle has been blown to signal the end of the first half at the San Siro - hopefully the players will get some zip from their half-time oranges. Hardly inspiring stuff so far, although imperious Juventus veteran Andrea Pirlo is being, well, Pirlo.

  136. 1750:
German BundesligaGOAL- Borussia Dortmund 1-0 Hamburg - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (19 mins)
    Pierre Aubameyang

Dortmund are rewarded for their bright start as their summer signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang shows electric pace to burst clear of Hamburg's defence and squeeze a shot below goalkeeper Rene Adler.

  137. 1749:
    German BundesligaBorussia Dortmund 0-0 Hamburg

Borussia Dortmund are also aiming to preserve their unblemished record as they host Hamburg, who are yet to chalk up a Bundesliga win, at Westfalenstadion.

Bayern Munich's 2-0 win against Hannover put them top of the pile earlier today but Dortmund know victory will see them leapfrog their rivals once more.

The hosts have started brightly with Marco Reus chipping over and Mats Hummels heading against the post.

  138. 1742:
Italian Serie AInter Milan 0-0 Juventus

You will be reading everything you need know about Gareth Bale - from his background to his shoe size - later on.

But, before that, we're going to find out what is happening at the San Siro. In truth, that is very little. Hosts Inter Milan are holding reigning champions Juventus as both sides look to extend their 100% winning starts to the new Serie A season.

  139. 1735:

Hello! Welcome to the latest leg of our jaunt around Europe - there is more action than a Steven Seagal thriller around the continent today.

We're going to start in Italy, where Inter Milan are under way against reigning Serie A champions Juventus, with brief visits to Germany as Borussia Dortmund host Hamburg.

Then we will head over the Mediterranean to Spain. La Liga holders, and early leaders, Barcelona welcome Sevilla to the Nou Camp before the eyes of the world focus on one man - a 24-year-old from Cardiff.

  140. 1730:
    Gareth Bale

Stomach churning. Mind racing. Palms sweating. We've all felt those pre-match nerves ahead of a big game. But none of us know how Gareth Bale is feeling right now. The £85m man is just a few hours away from his first match as a Real Madrid player. My legs would be like jelly...
