Raith Rovers contest Dougie Hill red card

Raith Rovers are to appeal against the red card shown to defender Dougie Hill during Tuesday's League cup defeat at home to Hearts.

The 28-year-old was ordered off after a confrontation with Jamie Hamill.

The dismissal came on 74 minutes, with the game tied at 1-1. Hearts went on to win after a penalty shoot-out.

"Never touched him," Hill commented via Twitter on Wednesday. "If anything it was him who tried to make contact. Embarrassing from him."

The Stark's Park club have since released a statement, saying: "Raith Rovers have lodged an appeal with the Scottish FA against the dismissal of centre-half Dougie Hill for alleged violent conduct towards Hearts player Jamie Hamill.

"In so doing, we wish to make it clear that we are making no criticism whatsoever of match referee Brian Colvin.

"The Scottish FA will review the incident under the terms of its Judicial Panel Protocol and, pending the outcome, Dougie remains available for selection."
