Manchester City v Newcastle: Newcastle are 'ready to go'

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew says his side are "ready to go" and "fitter than ever" as they prepare to face Manchester City in their opening Premier League fixture.

Pardew expects City to be "more forward-thinking" under new manager Manuel Pellegrini, and believes his team will come under more pressure when in possession of the ball than in recent seasons.

Newcastle have never won at the Etihad Stadium and have a dismal return of two points out of a possible 27 there.
