As it happened

  1. 2215:

Right, now that is everything in terms of live text commentary - until next weekend at least. We will be whizzing around the finest European destinations once again to keep tabs on the footballing fortunes of our continental cousins.

Remember, there will be more European football than ever on the BBC Sport website this season so don't miss all the reaction from this weekend and build up to the upcoming action.

    I'll sithee.

Larry Kings: Spanish clubs play the best attacking football but defensively they are woeful. A clinical team could have torn Real Madrid apart.

George Maddocks: Same old Real, throw enough galacticos in to guarantee wins over mid-table opposition. Rarely a truly inspired team though.

Monkeyius: PSG have scored once from 35 shots on goal. May say their massive outlay hasn't really been worth it.

  3. 2209:

That is almost everything from me after a mammoth day of European action. A quick recap of today's key action before we depart? OK.

German giants Borussia Dortmund sneak past newly-promoted Eintracht Braunschweig with a 2-1 success to climb top of the early-season Bundesliga table.

Spanish champions Barcelona open their La Liga campaign with a thumping 7-0 win against poor Levante, before fierce rivals Real Madrid edge past unlucky visitors Real Betis in a 2-1 victory.

Laurent Blanc is still searching for his first Ligue 1 win as Paris St-Germain boss after the champions draw against a battling Ajaccio side, while Serie A title holders Juventus romp to the Italian Super Cup by beating Lazio.

  4. 2204:
Italian Super Cup, Serie AFULL-TIME- Juventus 4-0 Lazio

Carlos Tevez scores for Juventus on his competitive debut for the club as they thrash Lazio to lift the Italian Super Cup. The former Manchester City man scored Juventus's fourth after goals from ex-Manchester United man Paul Pogba, Giorgio Chiellini and Stephan Lichtsteine.

  5. 2157:
    FULL-TIME- Paris St-Germain 1-1 Ajaccio
    Guillermo Ochoa

French champions Paris St-Germain are still waiting for their first win of the season after Ajaccio hold on desperately for a brave point. PSG had 34 shots to their visitors one but a combination of bad luck, bad finishing and brilliant goalkeeping from Guillermo Ochoa leaves them frustrated.

Dan: Barca will walk La Liga. Ligue 1 looks exciting though; PSG, Monaco, Marseille and Lyon all vying for the title!

  7. 2153:
French Ligue 1HITS THE WOODWORK- Paris St-Germain 1-1 Ajaccio

Paris St-Germain are furious as Ezequiel Lavezzi is booked for diving in the penalty area, when it looks as though he was clipped. Seconds later substitute Marco Veratti - who has made a difference - is brilliantly denied by that man Guillermo Ochoa again. The Ajaccio goalkeeper can't do anything though as Thiago Silva's strike goes past him and off the crossbar. PSG are throwing everything at their visitors.

  8. 2151:
FULL-TIME- Real Madrid 2-1 Real Betis

Indeed, Los Blancos do exactly that without any further cause for concern from a plucky Betis side. As well as a maiden win for Carlo Ancelotti, it is a dream debut for matchwinner Isco on his first Bernabeu appearance. He couldn't have dreamt a better script.

  9. 2147:
INJURY TIME- Real Madrid 2-1 Real Betis

Three minutes of stoppage time for Real Madrid to close this game out and hand new boss Carlo Ancelotti victory on his La Liga bow.

Sam Williams: Watching Real on television in Madrid and the smallest man on the pitch has scored with the biggest header of the night!

  11. 2145:
    GOAL- Paris St-Germain 1-1 Ajaccio - Edinson Cavani (86)

Ajaccio's brave resistance finally comes to an end as Edinson Cavani shows what Paris St-Germain spent almost £55million on. The Uruguayan twisted and turned on the edge of the area before shooting powerfully into the corner. The home faithful are suddenly vibrant.

  12. 2143:
GOAL- Real Madrid 2-1 Real Betis - Isco (86 mins)

Bang - there you go. Spain star Isco, who moved to the Bernabeu from La Liga side Malaga in the summer, leaps like the proverbial salmon to thump a header past Betis goalkeeper Stephan Andersen. Scenes of jubilation among the home players - despair for the deflated visitors.

  13. 2142:
French Ligue 1HITS THE WOODWORK- Paris St-Germain 0-1 Ajaccio

The hosts are starting to think this isn't going to be their day as skipper Thiago Silva rockets a header against the crossbar.

OptaJose: Betis didn't drop any points in the final ten minutes of a match all last season.

    Cristiano Ronaldo

Josh Ings: Ronaldo overhead kick into his own face. Who doesn't love seeing that? Somehow he got a corner.

  16. 2139:
SUBSTITUTION- Real Madrid 1-1 Real Betis

Another throw of the tactical dice from Carlo Ancelotti as he brings on Spain Under-21 international Alvaro Morata for goalscorer Karim Benzema. Can Morata provide the golden touch?

Ben Aitkenhead: Crucial issue now - will Betis settle and concede the initiative? Too long left to hold out. But looks like they are trying.

  18. 2136:
    Real Madrid 1-1 Real Betis
    Cristiano Ronaldo

Anguished expressions are etched across the faces of the Madrid players and their frustrated supporters as substitute Angel Di Maria slams into the side-netting. Luka Modric gallops down the left, passing inside Cristiano Ronaldo who, in turn, unselfishly lays on the Argentine.

  19. 2133:
French Ligue 1GREAT SAVE!- Paris St-Germain 0-1 Ajaccio

Ajaccio goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa continues to frustrate the French champions as he bravely smothers the ball in front of an advancing Zlatan Ibrahimovic. How long can they hang on?

  20. 2131:
CLOSE!- Real Madrid 1-1 Real Betis

Another golden opportunity goes begging for Real Betis! Nigerian midfielder Nosa Igiebor escapes the attentions of marker Luka Modric to plant a free header down into the turf and over the Madrid crossbar. Nosa thumps the ground in disappointment - he knows he should have hit the target.

Italian Super Cup, Serie ALatest score- Juventus 4-0 Lazio

Italian champions Juventus make a flying start to the second half in the Super Cup, scoring three goals in the first 15 minutes. The goals come from Giorgio Chiellini, Stephan Lichtsteiner and former Manchester City man Carlos Tevez.

  22. 2128:
    Real Madrid 1-1 Real Betis

Only one man is going to take this - yep, Cristiano Ronaldo. But the Portuguese superstar is missing his usual lethal shooting boots as away keeper Stephane Andersen gathers at a comfortable height.

  23. 2127:
SUBSTITUTION- Real Madrid 1-1 Real Betis

Real Betis dangerously concede a free-kick on the edge of their area, which allows Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti to introduce Angel Di Maria in the place of an unimpressed-looking Mesut Ozil.

  24. 2125:
    French Ligue 1Paris St-Germain 0-1 Ajaccio
    Adrian Mutu

Former Middlesbrough striker Fabrizio Ravanelli is not the only member of Ajaccio's staff known to England. Ex-Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu played 50 minutes for the visitors before being replaced by Dennis Oliech.

Ayden, via text on 81111: Atletico may have lost Falcao, but they gained David Villa who will be such a bargain. I think that they will be dark horses in the Spanish title race.

  26. 2123:
SUBSTITUTION- Real Madrid 1-1 Real Betis

But that is Cedric Mabwati's last involvement as he is, rather surprisingly, withdrawn by Real Betis boss Pepe Mel.

  27. 2122:
    Real Madrid 1-1 Real Betis

Congolese youngster Cedric Mabwati has been Real Betis's stand out performer and once again uses his blistering pace to run at the back-pedalling home defence. But Portuguese hardman Pepe sticks with his man to shepherd the ball to safety.

  28. 2120:
    French Ligue 1CLOSE!- Paris St-Germain 0-1 Ajaccio

Edinson Cavani's header is well tipped over by goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa and from the resulting corner Alex sees a header cleared off the line. They are getting closer but Ajaccio cling on.

  29. 2117:
    Real Madrid 1-1 Real Betis

This match at the Bernabeu is beautifully poised. You would think Real Madrid will have enough in the tank to see off the plucky visitors, but the Andalusians are executing their tactics - piling men behind the ball before using the pace of Joan Verdu and Cedric Mabwati on the counter - to great effect. Half an hour to go.

Ben Aitkenhead: This is turning into a cracker. Missed chances. Quality football. Betis refusing to be cowed. Madridista angst evident.

John Riordan: No other team has any money. The points margin between first and third in La Liga since 2009: 28/25/39/24

  31. 2111:
    French Ligue 1KICK-OFF- Paris St-Germain 0-1 Ajaccio
    Fabrizio Ravenelli

Ajaccio boss Fabrizio Ravanelli will be delighted with his side's first half performance but the hosts are likely to pile the pressure on this half.

  32. 2108:
    Real Madrid 1-1 Real Betis

Slick one-touch passing sets Madrid left-back Marcelo scampering into the left channel and he slices apart Real Betis with a whipped cross into the corridor of uncertainty between goalkeeper and defence. But a deflection deceives Karim Benzema who is lurking at the far post, only to fire well into the Bernabeu stands.

OptaJose: Betis didn't win any of the three matches that reached half-time at 1-1 last season.

  34. 2104:
HITS THE WOODWORK- Real Madrid 1-1 Real Betis

Whatever Carlo Ancelotti said at the break appears to have had the desired effect as Real Madrid fly out of the blocks in the second half. Cristiano Ronaldo sprints on to a loose ball outside of the Betis penalty area and plants a dipping strike on to the crossbar. Close - but not close enough.

  35. 2100:
Italian Super Cup, Serie AHALF-TIME- Juventus 1-0 Lazio

Paul Pogba's 23rd-minute strike is the only goal of the game as Serie A champions Juventus lead Coppa Italia winners Lazio at half time in the annual Italian curtain-raiser.

Adam: Real Madrid are known for being defensively poor, but this is shocking. Barca will destroy them.

Simon Smith: Madrid being outplayed at home. Betis should be ahead. They would have had a penalty too if they had the Arsenal-Villa ref!

  37. 2057:
French Ligue 1FULL-TIME- Lorient 2-1 Nantes

Earlier across the Channel, former Arsenal striker Jeremie Aliadiere nets Lorient's winner as they come from behind to beat Nantes to claim their first win of the new campaign.

  38. 2055:
    French Ligue 1HALF-TIME- Paris St-Germain 0-1 Ajaccio

Champions PSG will wonder how they are behind at half-time, but they are thanks to Benoit Pedretti's brilliant opener for the unfancied visitors. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has gone close a couple of times but the home players are shaken as they leave the pitch arguing with the referee. The reason why is not obvious.

  39. 2053:

Is players' chief Luis Manuel Rubiales right? Certainly on the evidence of Barcelona's demolition job against poor Levante, although Real Madrid are making hard work of their clash against Real Betis.

Can anyone break Barca and Madrid's domination in La Liga? Who has the potential to oust them? Have your say using #bbceurofooty on Twitter or via text on 81111.

  40. 2050:
La Liga Spanish league, La LigaA BORING TWO-HORSE RACE?

So are we in for another two-horse race in La Liga this season? Not on the evidence of the first half of the Bernabeu.

Valencia are the last team to have won the title, away from Barcelona and Real Madrid back in 2004, with Spain's top two clubs amassing 100 points to win the league in each past two seasons.

The Spanish players association president Luis Manuel Rubiales tells BBC World Service he fears Barcelona and Real Madrid's La Liga dominance will only grow. "Collectively we are not the best league, we have two super teams but we have no equal situation between all the clubs," he reckons.

  41. 2048:
HALF-TIME- Real Madrid 1-1 Real Betis

There is plenty of gesticulating from the confused-looking Real Madrid players as they leave the Bernabeu pitch at the break. Betis have caused all manner of problems for last season's La Liga runners-up and are unlucky not to be leading.

  42. 2046:
Spanish La LigaReal Madrid 1-1 Real Betis

Again, Betis stretch Real Madrid as they search for a second. Carlo Ancelotti's side who look woefully exposed at the back and Joan Verdu takes advantage to burst down the middle before slipping in Cedric Mabwati who fires wide.

  43. 2044:
    French Ligue 1CLOSE!- Paris St-Germain 0-1 Ajaccio

Brilliant from Zlatan Ibrahimovic but the Swede is inches away from levelling after volleying just wide of the far post, following neat chest control. The pressure is building.

  44. 2042:
PENALTY APPEAL- Real Madrid 1-1 Real Betis

This boy Cedric Mabwati, who joined Betis on a free transfer during the close season, is posing all sorts of problems for Real Madrid. He steal a march on Daniel Carvajal, with the young right-back dozing when a teasing cross comes in from the right flank, and tumbles to the floor as the pair tangle. Mabwati is adamant he is pushed by Carvajal - a shake of the head indicates the referee thinks otherwise.

Nico Kyriazis: Madrid/Barca would win ANY other league? Champions League? Neither have made a final for two years.

  46. 2038:
Italian Super Cup, Serie AGOAL- Juventus 1-0 Lazio

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba puts Italian champions Juventus ahead as the Super Cup final approaches half-time.

  47. 2036:
HITS THE WOODWORK- Real Madrid 1-1 Real Betis

Betis win their sixth corner of the evening - compared to Madrid's grand total of zero - and almost punish the home side. Nigerian defender Nosa Igiebor rattles the crossbar with a free header after beign picked out by Joan Verdu's pinpoint right-wing cross. Slack marking from the home side.

  48. 2034:
CLOSE!- Real Madrid 1-1 Real Betis
    Jorge Molina

Betis goalscorer Jorge Molina, not a regular starter for the Andalucians, looks in the mood tonight - and he almost puts the visitors ahead for a second time. He turns smartly inside the Madrid penalty area and swivels to shoot. But his left-foot effort loops off Sergio Ramos and into the grateful arms of Diego Lopez.

  49. 2031:
    French Ligue 1CLOSE!- Paris St-Germain 0-1 Ajaccio

Brazilian defender Maxwell almost levels for the French champions but his angled shot is well parried away by Ajaccio goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa.

  50. 2028:
    French Ligue 1Paris St-Germain 0-1 Ajaccio
    Edinson Cavani

Edinson Cavani's home debut, following his £56.4m summer move from Napoli, is not turning out how the Parc des Princes expected with Ajaccio more than holding their own early on. The Corsica-based side only escaped relegation on the final day of last season.

  51. 2026:
GOAL- Real Madrid 1-1 Real Betis - Karim Benzema (26 mins)

This time Madrid are not to be denied by the linesman's flag. Carlo Ancelotti's side ping around the ball quickly on the cusp of the Betis area, before new signing Isco slides in Karim Benzema for the Frenchman to unleash a thunderous strike into the net.

Ben Aitkenhead: Second time Ramos was exposed today. Clinical goal. Madrid's psyche was vulnerable and is now laid bare. Should be 2-0.

Shohidur Rahman: Casillas continues to be on the bench even under new coach Ancelotti. Don't get it.

  53. 2024:
Spanish La LigaReal Madrid 0-1 Real Betis

Now Real Madrid up the tempo. Brazilian left-back Marcelo smacks a low cross around the face of Betis' goal which Karim Benzema simply watches drift wide. And then Cristiano Ronaldo is allowed to cut inside from the left before flashing a fierce shot past the same post.

  54. 2022:
Italian Super CupLatest score- Juventus 0-0 Lazio

The Italian Super Cup is also underway with Serie A champions Juventus and Coppa Italia winners Lazio goalless after 15 minutes.

  55. 2020:
DISALLOWED GOAL- Real Madrid 0-1 Real Betis

Betis are playing a risky high-line, but it pays dividends again as Cristiano Ronaldo is flagged offside before his cross is diverted into the away goal by a visiting defender. The home crowd voice their disapproval but the linesman got the decision spot on.

  56. 2018:
CLOSE!- Real Madrid 0-1 Real Betis

There is a stunned silence around the Bernabeu after the opener - and the home side almost go two goals behind seconds later. More brilliant play from Congolese youngster Cedric Mabwati as he scampers to the byline before pulling back to Joan Verdu. But the Betis midfielder cannot force Diego Lopez into a save.

  57. 2015:
GOAL- Real Madrid 0-1 Real Betis - Jorge Molina (15 mins)

Young Betis midfielder Cedric Mabwati surges past Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos before squaring to Jorge Molina for the simplest of tap-ins.

  58. 2013:
    GOAL- Paris St-Germain 0-1 Ajaccio - Benoit Pedretti (9)

The French champions are stunned as midfielder Benoit Pedretti brilliantly puts Fabrizio Ravenelli's men ahead. He collected the ball 20 yards from goal before bending it past goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu.

  59. 2010:
Spanish La LigaReal Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Another let off for Real Madrid. Home goalkeeper Diego Lopez has a huge rush of blood to the head as he careers out his goal in an attempt to meet a forward pass towards Jorge Molina. He was never going to beat the Betis striker to the ball, but does enough to block his effort on the edge of the penalty area.

Andy, Grimsby, via mobile on 81111: Remember La Liga isn't always Real vs Barca, Atletico Madrid won the Copa Del Rey last season did they not?

  61. 2008:
    Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Betis force another corner after Real Madrid pair Pepe and Diego Lopez get into an almighty defensive mess. But the set-piece is over hit and it allows Carlo Ancelotti's men to clear.

  62. 2004:
DISALLOWED GOAL- Real Madrid 0-0 Real Betis

Real think they have outdone Barca by scoring an opener inside two minutes, but Betis are saved by an offside flag. And the away team almost go straight up the other end to score as Jorge Molina's near-post header is clawed away by Diego Lopez. Cracking start in the Bernabeu.

  63. 2003:
    French Ligue 1KICK-OFF- Paris St-Germain 0-0 Ajaccio

How will Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic compliment each other in their first start together for Paris St-Germain?

  64. 2002:
KICK-OFF- Real Madrid v Real Betis (2000 BST)

So Barcelona have laid down the marker, how will Real Madrid react? We're underway...

    La Liga Spanish leagueLINE-UPS

Real Madrid: Lopez, Pepe, Ramos, Khedira, Ronaldo, Benzema, Ozil, Marcelo, Carvajal, Modric, Isco. Subs: Casillas, Kaka, Casemiro, Arbeloa, Nacho, Morata, Di Maria

Real Betis: Andersen, Chica, Perquis, Paulao, Nacho, Matilla, Nosa, Verdu, Juanfran, Cedrick, Molina. Subs

    Barcelona 7-0 Levante

Spanish football expert Andy West at the Nou Camp: "There has been plenty of heated discussion in Spain about the increasing gap between the Big Two (Barca and Real Madrid) and the remainder of the league.

"This walk in the park will only fuel that debate, although it should be taken into account that Barca were playing close to their peak for the opening 45 minutes and Levante could hardly have been worse - in that context, it can hardly be seen as representative of the whole league."

OptaJose: Betis are the only team to have recorded more than one 0-0 draw against Real Madrid in the Bernabeu over the last 10 seasons.

  68. 1953:
La LigaReal Madrid v Real Betis (2000 BST)

New Real boss Carlo Ancelotti continues with his predecessor Jose Mourinho's decision to bench Spanish captain and goalkeeper Iker Casillas in favour of Diego Lopez for their opener.

The Italian selects Dani Carvajal ahead of Alvaro Arbeloa at right-back, whilst Cristiano Ronaldo makes his 200th appearance for the club since signing from Manchester United four years ago.

  69. 1950:
    FULL-TIME- Barcelona 7-0 Levante

Barca goalkeeper Victor Valdes is finally forced into a save as he comfortably gathers a Levante free-kick in virtually the final action. What a start for new gaffer Tata Martino as the Spanish champions record their biggest La Liga opening-day win. Over to you Real....

  70. 1948:
    INJURY TIME- Barcelona 7-0 Levante

Despite managing to limit the classy Catalans to just one second-half strike, Levante must be begging for the referee to blow the final whistle. They have two minutes of injury-time to endure.

Staffan Vowles: Remembering Robbie Savage saying the format needs to change after Spain thrashed Tahiti I wonder what he suggests for La Liga?

Jim Harrison: Don't you guys think it is a tad early to be talking of a two-horse race after just one hour of football?!

Barry Dunne: I'd enjoy La Liga more if Real and Barca didn't face so much token opposition. Another predictable title race lies in store.

  72. 1944:
    FINAL FIVE- Barcelona 7-0 Levante

We have seen fleeting flashes of Neymar's brilliance and he comes close to opening his Barcelona account. Yet again Cesc Fabregas is the orchestrator with a sublime chip into the path of the Brazilian who tries to flick a shot over Levante goalkeeper Keylor Navas. He's got five minutes to make a goalscoring debut.

  73. 1940:
TEAM NEWS- Real Madrid v Real Betis (2000 BST)

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, still a reported target for former club Manchester United, starts for the Spanish giants.

Tunde Akere: This is getting to a stage where I can't watch again, they might as well hand over the league to Barca.

JS: If Madrid and Barca were in any other league they would win in. Think Hull City would stop this Barca team scoring like this?

  75. 1936:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 7-0 Levante

Spanish football expert Andy West at the Nou Camp: "Oops. It certainly looked like Levante's Hector Rodas was nudging the ball back for his goalkeeper to take the free-kick, rather than meaning to take it himself. But it was an ambiguous move at best and easy to see why the referee allowed play to continue.

"Interesting to see Messi substituted by Tata Martino, incidentally. Last season Messi played 90 minutes virtually every week, whatever the game situation, so maybe Martino has decided his star asset needs more careful management of his workload."

  76. 1933:
    SUBSTITUTION- Barcelona 7-0 Levante

And that is Pedro's last action as he, like Lionel Messi, is denied the chance to bag an opening-day hat-trick by new boss Tata Martino.

  77. 1930:
GOAL- Barcelona 7-0 Levante - Pedro (73 mins)

Oh dear. Levante's defending has been as schoolboy as the Doncaster Under 10's team I used to play in. Visiting right-back Pedro Lopez stops as he waits for the referee's whistle after thinking he was fouled, before team-mate Hector Rodas casually passes back to goalkeeper Keylor Navas for the free-kick. Only it isn't a free-kick because it has not been given. Cesc Fabregas can't believe his luck as he rolls in Pedro for his second of the game.

  78. 1928:
    SUBSTITUTION- Barcelona 6-0 Levante

Good news for Levante - Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi is withdrawn. The bad news? Midfield genius Andres Iniesta replaces him. Oh.

Tshepo von Rudloff: This is ridiculous, Barca are destroying Levante. La Liga is a battle of two teams and the rest fighting for scraps.

Christopher Arnfield: La Liga has become a joke.People used to call the Scottish PL, Spanish football has become a procession. Finances need change

  80. 1926:
French Ligue 1TEAM NEWS- Paris St-Germain v Ajaccio (2000 BST)

Paris St-Germain's £54.5million signing Edinson Cavani starts up front alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the first time this evening as the French champions entertain Ajaccio at the Parc des Princes.

  81. 1924:
    Barcelona 6-0 Levante
    Lionel Messi

Welcome to Spain. Neymar is clattered within seconds of his introduction by a Levante opponent, before Cesc Fabregas wins a free-kick on the edge of the away penalty area. Lionel Messi, for once, fluffs his lines with the set-piece.

  82. 1921:
    SUBSTITUTION- Barcelona 6-0 Levante

A huge roar breaks out around the Nou Camp as Brazilian star Neymar emerges from the home bench. The £49m summer signing replaces Alexis Sanchez for the champions. He has got to score against this mob hasn't he?

Dale Wright: Barca and Real might as well play each other 38 times and let the rest compete for the remaining 18 places. Very sad to see!

Steve: Think Barca will go easy on Levante in the second half by bringing Iniesta and Neymar on!

  84. 1919:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 6-0 Levante

Spanish football writer Andy West: "No goals yet in the second half, even though Gerard Pique seems to have taken it upon himself to play as a striker.

"But there has been a disconcerting sight on the sidelines for Levante players who might be hoping that Barca will start to take it easy: Andres Iniesta, Neymar and Jordi Alba warming up. Alex Song and Cristian Tello are also having a stretch, but there's no doubt who the fans want to see...the Brazilian Boy Wonder."

  85. 1916:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 6-0 Levante

Pique is desperate to get involved with the scoring action. Only he knows what he is doing in the centre forward's role and, after being picked out by Pedro, is repelled by Keylor Navas.

  86. 1914:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 6-0 Levante

This is far too easy for the home side. Three Barcelona players form an orderly queue at Levante's far post following a corner and the ball falls to centre-back Gerard Pique. The Spain international volleys goalwards, only to see his effort blocked at close range.

  87. 1911:
    Barcelona 6-0 Levante

Cesc Fabregas is running the Barca show here - no wonder Manchester United boss David Moyes is so keen to bring him back to England. The ex-Arsenal midfielder lofts a brilliant pass to Lionel Messi, but the Argentine superstar is denied by Levante goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

Samir Selhim: Barca 6 - 0 Levante. Amazing.

Keval Shah: Barca 6-0 up at halftime. I really worry for La Liga. Barca are very good but this cannot be good for the league as a whole.

Shohidur Rahman: Wow this could easily be 10 by full time. The gap between these 2 teams is frankly ridiculous.

  89. 1905:
    Barcelona 6-0 Levante

Reigning champions Barcelona could break all sorts of long-standing records if they continue their first-half destruction over the next 45 minutes.

Their biggest home win came in 1949 when they thumped Gimnastic Tarragona, while they could beat Sevilla's 72-year record for the biggest winning margin on La Liga's opening weekend. Sevilla thrashed Oviedo 10-0 in 1941, which came just a year after they recorded a 11-1 victory - against Barcelona.

  90. 1901:
    KICK-OFF- Barcelona 6-0 Levante

Here we go - we're back underway. Can Levante, who make a half-time substitution by introducing midfielder Simao Mate, salvage any pride?

  91. 1858:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 6-0 Levante

I wonder what is happening in the Levante dressing room right now. Punch-drunk defenders lying dazed on the floor? Coach Joaquin Caparros marching around in a fit of rage? Whatever the scene, the visitors will need more than a bag of half-time oranges to help them to blunt Barcelona after the break.

  92. 1854:
    Portuguese Primeira LigaFULL-TIME

    Sporting Lisbon 5 - 1 Arouca

    Belenenses 0 - 3 Rio Ave

    Gil Vicente 2 - 0 Academica

Shohidur Rahman: 6-0 to Barca at half time. The gap between Barca & Real and the rest is clear. Sad to see.

  94. 1849:
    HALF-TIME- Barcelona 6-0 Levante

Spanish writer Andy West at the Nou Camp: "The only conclusion to be drawn from that first half is something we already knew: Barcelona are capable of playing mesmerising attacking football against weak opposition.

"And make no mistake, Levante are as weak as water. They've failed to do even the simple things well and the completely needless 'challenge' on Adriano by Pedro Lopez for the penalty was a prime example. Relegation candidates for sure."

  95. 1846:
GOAL- Barcelona 6-0 Levante - Xavi (45 mins)

This is, frankly, unbelievable. Not to be left out, skipper Xavi prods in another Cesc Fabregas pass. Levante will be begging the referee to can this match at half-time, which arrives moments after Barcelona's sixth.

  96. 1843:
GOAL- Barcelona 5-0 Levante - Lionel Messi (42 mins)

Will Lionel Messi show some mercy on the poor visitors? Will he heck. The Argentine saunters up to the ball before clipping it past the despairing dive of Levante goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

  97. 1842:
    PENALTY- Barcelona 4-0 Levante

And they shoot themselves in the foot straight as Pedro Lopez stupidly clatters into the back of Adriano. Penalty.

  98. 1840:
    Barcelona 4-0 Levante

Barcelona finally take their foot of the pedal as the shell-shocked Levante players try to build a period of possession. They know there is no way back now - it is purely a damage limitation exercise.

Niall ODonnell: Easy to see why Fabregas wants to stay - involved in all the play and it is spellbinding.

  100. 1836:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 4-0 Levante

Spanish football expert Andy West at the Nou Camp: "Barca boss Tata Martino will have been particularly delighted with his team's third goal as he watches on from the sidelines in his 1970s bank manager's blazer.

"Since being appointed, he has repeatedly emphasised that his tactical priority is regaining the intensity of his team's pressing high up the pitch. The goal came after Lionel Messi did exactly that, robbing Levante's David Navarro close to the byline to set Fabregas away."

  101. 1832:
    Spanish La LigaBarcelona 4-0 Levante

Barcelona are rampant. Levante goalkeeper Keylor Navas uses his head - literally - to avert the danger ahead of a lurking Lionel Messi on the edge of his area, before flinging himself across his net seconds later to stop the Argentine floating in a fifth.

Adil Majid: Fair to say your a decent team when you have Iniesta and Neymar on the bench.

  103. 1827:
GOAL- Barcelona 4-0 Levante - Pedro (26 mins)

Everyone got their calculators at the ready? There is simply no respite for the visitors as Pedro curls in a wonderful first-time effort past Keylor Navas.

  104. 1825:
GOAL- Barcelona 3-0 Levante - Dani Alves (23 mins)

This is turning into an exhibition. Dani Alves combines with Lionel Messi on the edge of the area to play Fabregas through on goal. His square ball is palmed away by goalkeeper Keylor Navas but Alves is on hand to tap home.

  105. 1822:
FULL-TIME- Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Eintracht Braunschweig

There is a huge collective sigh of relief from Dortmund as they clinch a hard-fought win against the unfancied visitors. It also means Jurgen Klopp chalks up his 100th Bundesliga win at the helm - not sure he will be celebrating too much tonight though after a below-par display.

  106. 1820:
La Liga Spanish leagueBarcelona 2-0 Levante

You can't help fearing for Levante here. It is almost 3-0 as Alexis Sanchez volleys wide acrobatically. The visitors looked shell-shocked.

  107. 1817:
GOAL- Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Eintracht Braunschweig - Robert Lewandowski OG (88 mins)

Oh hello - this is not over yet. Eintracht reduce the deficit when Kevin Kratz's near-post header is diverted in to his own net by Robert Lewandowski, who was back defending the initial corner. Well the Pole was hoping for a goal on his 100th Bundesliga appearance....

  108. 1815:
GOAL- Borussia Dortmund 2-0 Eintracht Braunschweig - Marco Reus (86 mins)

It is a tale of two substitutes for Dortmund. After Hofmann was unceremoniously dumped to the turf, fellow replacement Marco Reus is calmness personified to slot in.

  109. 1814:
PENALTY- Borussia Dortmund 1-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

This could be game over for the visitors. Jonas Hofmann - what an impact he has had - is upended and the referee has no hesitation in pointing to the spot.

  110. 1813:
La Liga Spanish leagueGOAL- Barcelona 2-0 Levante

It is like we have never been away. A brilliant move from Barcelona, sees Fabregas, Messi and Xavi combine, before Messi slots the ball into the net from close range.

  111. 1813:
    Barcelona 1-0 Levante

Spanish football writer Andy West at the Nou Camp: "Beautifully worked opener for Barca. The first-time pass from Xavi from the edge of the box was perfection itself and then Fabregas was unselfish in teeing up Sanchez for a tap-in when he could have easily have gone for goal himself.

"It's going to be a long, long evening for Levante. And as the relaxed hum of theatre-goers settling back to enjoy the spectacle spreads around the Nou Camp, there's no doubt the locals are expecting a goal-fest."

  112. 1811:
    Borussia Dortmund 1-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

Dortmund have found their swagger now. Robert Lewandowski, looking to mark a century of Bundesliga matches with a goal, unleashes a rising drive from distance which is acrobatically tipped over by the excellent Daniel Davari in the Braunschweig goal.

  113. 1809:
    La LigaBarcelona 1-0 Levante

Barcelona's new boss Gerardo Martino could not have asked for a better start to his competitive debut. He received a great ovation from the Nou Camp crowd pre-match and he will be even more popular now. Levante need to compose themselves.

  114. 1806:

Normal service has resumed then, eh?

  115. 1804:
GOAL- Barcelona 1-0 Levante - Alexis Sanchez (3 mins)

What a start for the La Liga champions. With their first attack of the game, Cesc Fabregas is played through and he unselfishly squares for Alexis Sanchez who has the simple task of tapping home.

  116. 1803:
GOAL- Borussia Dortmund 1-0 Eintracht Braunschweig - Jonas Hofmann (75 mins)

Finally, Dortmund have broken through - and it is a goal of the highest quality. Substitute Jonas Hofmann, who replaced Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang moments ago, latches on to a perfectly-weighted return pass from centre-half Mats Hummels before firing across Daniel Davari and in off the far post.

La Liga Spanish leagueKICK-OFF- Barcelona v Levante

We are underway here at the Nou Camp as Barcelona begin the defence of their La Liga crown against Levante.

  118. 1802:
FINAL FIFTEEN- Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

Borussia Dortmund have scored in each of their last 40 home games and last drew a blank against Stuttgart last November. Can Eintracht Braunschweig hang on and end that impressive record?

  119. 1759:
    La LigaLINE-UPS- Barcelona v Levante

Barcelona: Valdes, Pique, Fabregas, Xavi, Pedro, Alexis, Messi, Mascherano, Sergio, Adriano and Alves. Subs: Pinto, Bartra, Alba, Song, Iniesta, Tello and Neymar.

Levante: Navas, Navarro, Rodas, Barral, El Zhar, Ruben, Juanfran, Xumetra, Sergio, Pedro Lopez and Simao. Subs Vyntra, Javi Jimenez, Pallardo, Karabelas, El Adoua, Pedro Ríos, Ivanschitz

  120. 1758:
CLOSE!- Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

The chances are coming thick and fast now as Eintracht Braunschweig cling on for their lives. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang blazes wide - his last action before being substituted - before Henrikh Mkhitaryan's shot is blocked. Then away goalkeeper Daniel Davari denies Mkhitaryan again before Robert Lewandowski woefully scuffs the rebound into his grateful arms.

  121. 1756:
DISALLOWED GOAL- Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

That set-piece comes to nothing though, and within seconds Dortmund swiftly break on the counter attack. Marco Reus is clean through after a defensive mistake and beats Eintracht goalkeeper Daniel Davari - but he hasn't beaten the visitors' offside trap. Still goalless.

  122. 1754:
    Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

Eintracht Braunschweig manage to soak up a sustained period of Dortmund pressure but enjoy some respite as ex-Manchester City youngster Omar Elabdellaoui races down the right flank before winning a corner.

  123. 1752:
    Portuguese Primeira LigaFULL-TIME

Portuguese football expert Ben Shave: ‏Full time, Sporting 5-1 Arouca. Let's not get ahead of ourselves, but that was encouraging. Very encouraging. Especially Montero. Lethal.

  124. 1750:
    Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

Marco Reus gets straight into the action by whipping in a corner which Sven Bender heads wide. Is the tide turning?

  125. 1749:
SUBSTITUTION- Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

One or two eyebrows were raised by Marco Reus' omission from the Dortmund starting XI - now it is his time. The Germany playmaker replaces Poland midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski.

  126. 1747:
CLOSE!- Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang impressed by netting a hat-trick on his Dortmund debut and it is the Gabon star who looks the most likely to produce a piece of magic for the hosts. He smashes a near-post volley towards goal but is denied by Eintracht goalkeeper Daniel Davari.

  127. 1744:
    Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig
    Eintracht Braunschweig

The sun is starting to shine in the Ruhr Valley - but can that brighten up Dortmund's mood? The home fans are uncharacteristically quiet at the moment and are being drowned out by the 7,000 visiting supporters.

  128. 1741:
    Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

Finally, Dortmund start to crank up the pressure. Marcel Schmelzer tumbles under a challenge in the Eintracht box to an unsuccessful penalty appeal and then Sven Bender unleases a fizzing shot which is watched wide by away goalkeeper Daniel Davari.

  129. 1739:
Portuguese Primeira LigaLATEST SCORE- Sporting Lisbon 5-1 Arouca

Portuguese football expert Ben Shave: ‏5-1! Hat trick for Montero! Colombian controls, dinks the ball over his marker and slides home. Simply magnificent.

  130. 1737:
    Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

Jurgen Klopp will have instructed his players to show more urgency and purpose in their passing as they look to unlock the stoic away defence. No joy yet, as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang slams a 25-yard free-kick into the wall.

  131. 1735:
    Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

The message will have been clear from Eintracht boss Torsten Lieberknecht at the break: "Keep doing what you're doing lads." Obviously he would said that in German.

  132. 1733:
KICK-OFF- Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

The Dortmund players are deep in discussion as they emerge from the Westfalenstadion tunnel, before Eintracht Braunschweig get the action underway. Game on.

  133. 1732:
La Liga Spanish leagueBarcelona v Levante

Spanish football writer Andy West at the Nou Camp: "As predicted, Neymar does not start for Barca, with Pedro and Alexis Sanchez flanking Lionel Messi.

"Former Liverpool man Javier Mascherano starts in defence and he's likely to see plenty of action this season after manager Tata Martino's surprise comment yesterday that he doesn't want to sign a central defender, despite months of speculation to the contrary.

"Martino is working on the assumption that captain Carles Puyol will eventually recovery from knee surgery to support Mascherano, Gerard Pique and youngster Marc Bartra. Quite a gamble on a 35-year-old with dodgy knees..."

  134. 1730:
    Dutch EredivisieFULL-TIME- Twente 6-0 Utrecht

Twente move up to third in the Eredivisie after hammering Utrecht 6-0 this afternoon. Goals from Rasmus Bengtsson, two from Quincy Promes and Luc Castaignos and a penalty from Dusan Tadic did the damage.

  135. 1728:

Alex, via text on 81111: Surprised no mention yet that the Italian Supercoppa final between Juve and Lazio is on tonight - curtain-raiser to the new Serie A season next weekend!

Don't worry Alex, that match is on our radar. We will be bringing goal updates from Italy, while focusing on Real Madrid and Paris St-Germain's opening home games. All three games start at 2000 (BST).

  136. 1726:
Portuguese Primeira LigaSporting Lisbon 3-1 Arouca

Portuguese football expert Ben Shave: 3-1! Wilson Eduardo caps off an excellent afternoon with a deserved goal. Ball sent into the back post by Carrillo, & Wilson nods home.

  137. 1724:
La Liga Spanish leagueBarcelona v Levante (1800 BST)

Spanish football writer Andy West: "This should be a straightforward win for Barcelona against a Levante team who lost a lot of influential players during the summer and could well be in for a tough season. It's a competitive debut for new Barca boss Tata Martino, and I'm sure he'll get a good reception from the Nou Camp crowd.

"We could also see a league debut for new signing Neymar, although Martino indicated yesterday that the Brazilian wonderkid will only be on the bench. Alexis Sanchez, who was excellent during pre-season, will probably get the start."

  138. 1720:
    Spanish La Liga

While a rain-soaked Jurgen Klopp blasts the half-time hairdryer at his Borussia players (metaphorically), let's see what is happening over in Spain as Barcelona prepare to kick off their La Liga campaign.

  139. 1717:
HALF-TIME- Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig
Braunschweig's midfielder Norman Theuerkauf; and Dortmund's midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan

And that is indeed that for the first half without any further goalmouth action. Newly-promoted Eintracht Braunschweig were rank outsiders ahead of kick-off but have acquitted themselves very well at the Westfalenstadion. Let's see what Dortmund have got in the locker to up their game.

  140. 1716:
INJURY TIME- Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

One minute of added time held up on the fourth official's board. I suspect Eintracht boss Thorsten Lieberknecht will be happier than his pal Jurgen Klopp at the interval.

  141. 1713:
    Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

Robert Lewandowski hasn't quite found his stride yet on his 100th Bundesliga appearance. The Dortmund striker does have two glimpses of goal in quick succession, but can only steer a pair of headers over the crossbar.

What do you make of the Pole, folks? Worthy of the hefty reputation he has acquired? Let us know using #bbceurofooty on Twitter or via text on 81111.

  142. 1710:
CLOSE!- Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

Dortmund central midfielder Nuri Sahin (remember him Liverpool fans?) confidently stands in front of a 25-yard free-kick as the visitors hastily form a defensive wall. The Turkey international unleashes a dipping, curling effort which whizzes on to the roof of the Eintracht goal. Some of the home crowd though had gone in. No cigar.

  143. 1708:
    Portuguese Primeira LigaHALF-TIME

    Belenense 0 - 1 Rio Ave

    Gil Vicente 1 - 0 Academica

  144. 1706:
CLOSE!- Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

Thorsten Lieberknecht was nearly left celebrating as Braunschweig crank up the pressure on their illustrious hosts. Only a last-ditch block from Dortmund defender Mats Hummels stops Jan Hochsteidt's fierce effort which then falls to team-mate Norman Theuerkauf who volleys wide. That's a warning for Dortmund.

  145. 1702:
French Ligue 1HALF-TIME- Lorient 1-1 Nantes

Lorient's Vincent Aboubakar cancels out Olivier Veigneau's early opener for Nantes.

  146. 1701:
    Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig
Juergen Klopp of Borussia Dortmund, Braunschweig coach Torsten Lieberknecht

Eintracht Braunschweig gaffer Torsten Lieberknecht will be more than happy with his side's start in the Westfalenstadion as he looks to get one over his old Mainz team-mate Jurgen Klopp.

  147. 1658:
    Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

Then, right on cue, Simeon Jackson almost creates a chance for the unfancied visitors. A quick foot shuffle sees him momentarily leave Mats Hummels for dead inside the Dortmund box, but the Germany defender recovers to prevent Jackson's cross reaching a white shirt.

  148. 1654:
    Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

We briefly mentioned ex-Gillingham and Norwich striker Simeon Jackson before kick-off - but we have seen little of him since. The Canadian striker has barely had a sniff as he ploughs a lone furrow in the Eintracht Braunschweig attack.

  149. 1651:
Portuguese Primeira LigaSporting Lisbon 2-1 Arouca

Portuguese football expert Ben Shave: Half time, Sporting 2-1 Arouca. Decent opening undone by that needless Amaro goal, but the Leoes responded well and ended the half on top.

  150. 1650:
Dutch Eredivisie - latest score- Twente 4-0 Utrecht

Luc Castaignos scores a brace for Twente as they look set to continue their unbeaten start to the season, with just 20 minutes left against winless Utrecht.

  151. 1649:
    Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

Ominously for the visitors, Dortmund are starting to grind through the gears. Robert Lewandowski heads a decent chance over the bar before Eintracht defender Marcel Correia times a slide tackle to perfection to rob the ball off the toes of Jakub Blaszczykowski.

  152. 1646:
CLOSE!- Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

Seconds later, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Daniel Davari do battle again - and again the Eintracht goalkeeper comes out on top. He races out to slide clear as the Gabon forward looks to bury the ball past him.

  153. 1645:
    Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

Moments later, new Dortmund hero Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang unleashes the home side's first on-target shot which is gathered comfortably by Daniel Davari.

  154. 1643:
    Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

Dortmund have settled in to their stride following that early scare (1634), with Jakub Blaszczykowski causing problems down the right flank. But away keeper Daniel Davari has not been stretched as yet.

  155. 1640:
Portuguese Primeira LigaSporting Lisbon 2-1 Arouca

Portuguese football expert Ben Shave: 2-1! Brilliant pass from William out wide to Wilson, his cross finds Montero who sweeps home at the near post. Lovely stuff.

  156. 1637:
    Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

Henrikh Mkhitaryan shows why he was sought after with a silky stepover and shot before Eintracht scramble clear for a corner. Lively start from both sides.

  157. 1634:
    Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

Almost the perfect start for Eintract Braunschweig! Skipper Dennis Kruppke makes a darting run into the Dortmund box to meet Ken Reichel's low left-wing cross, but cannot get enough contact to trouble home stopper Roman Weidenfeller.

  158. 1631:
KICK-OFF- Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Eintracht Braunschweig

The skies are grey over the Westfalenstadion, but there is a sea of yellow illuminating the home stands as Dortmund kick off the proceedings.

  159. 1629:
Borussia Dortmund v Eintracht Braunschweig (1630 BST)

You're probably thinking that you will not recognise any of the names in the Eintracht Braunschweig, right? Well, you would be wrong.

If you're an aficionado of lower-league English football then you should have heard of Simeon Jackson. The ex-Gillingham and Norwich striker joined Die Lowen over the summer and starts up front. Manchester City fans might also recognise the name of right-back Omar Elabdellaoui, who started his career at the Premier League club before leaving for Germany.

  160. 1626:
    Torsten Lieberknecht

Eintracht Braunschweig boss Torsten Lieberknecht is the man responsible for their revival and he will be looking forward to pitting his managerial wits against his old pal Jurgen Klopp.

The pair were Mainz team-mates around the turn of the Millennium, before Klopp became Lieberknecht's boss at the Rhineland-Palatinate club in 2001. I'm sure they will be sharing a stein of German bier at full-time, though probably not in the manner in which Lieberknecht celebrated promotion in April...

  161. 1623:
Borussia Dortmund v Eintracht Braunschweig (1630 BST)

During the Cold War years, this was a match between two of the West Germany's most established clubs. Both sides were founding members of the Bundesliga in 1963 and Braunschweig - from the medieval city in the Lower Saxon region - became German champions four years later.

But their fortunes declined dramatically over the next two decades - on and off the field - and were scrapping around Bundesliga II and Regionalliga until clinching an automatic promotion spot from the second tier last season.

  162. 1621:
TEAM NEWS- Borussia Dortmund v Eintracht Braunschweig (1630 BST)

As well as the introduction of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, there are three other changes for Dortmund from their opening-day win against Augsburg. Poland midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski makes his first start, as does Greece defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, with Marco Reus and Neven Subotic dropping to the bench. Goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller is also back after suspension.

Capital R: If Dortmund can keep their first team players fit then there is no reason they can't keep up with Bayern.

  164. 1615:
LINE-UPS- Borussia Dortmund v Eintracht Braunschweig (1630 BST)

Borussia Dortmund: Weidenfeller, Sokratis, Hummels, Schmelzer, Grosskreutz, Blaszczykowski, Sahin, Bender, Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang, Lewandowski. Subs: Langerak, Subotic, Kehl, Hofmann, Reus, Durm, Ducksch.

Eintracht Braunschweig: Davari, Correia, Reichel, Bicakcic, Elabdellaoui, Kratz, Kruppke, Theuerkauf, Hochscheidt, Caligiuri, Jackson. Subs: Petkovic, Kessel, Vrancic, Boland, Perthel, Oehrl, Ademi.

Paul Beard: For the last couple of years BVB seem to lose their best players, (Kagawa, Götze), they just cant compete on wages.

Rian Hoskins: Gotze wasn't Dortmund's most important player last season but they will still miss his creativity and partnership with Reus.

  166. 1612:
    French Ligue 1Monaco 4-1 Montpellier

There was some early action in France too as big-spending Monaco thrash Montpellier in their first home game of the season.

Monaco striker Emmanuel Riviere bagged the first hat-trick of his career after Radamel Falcao's opener from the penalty spot. The side from the Principality are one of the four teams to maintain a perfect start along with Lyon, Marseille and St Etienne.

Champions Paris Saint-Germain entertain Ajaccio this evening (2000 BST), while Nantes travel to Lorient at 1600 BST.

Dave via mobile on 81111 (UK users only): Here in the Signal Iduna park...what an atmosphere...think the beverages help! Hoping for a Lewandowski masterclass.

  168. 1607:
BREAKING TEAM NEWS- Borussia Dortmund v Eintracht Braunschweig (1630 BST)

Summer signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who was a target for Liverpool before joining Dortmund from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, makes his Bundesliga debut for Jurgen Klopp's side.

  169. 1604:

    Cambur 4-1 Groningen

PSV Eindhoven 3-0 Go Ahead Eagles

    Waalwijk 1-2 AZ Alkmaar

    NEC Nijmegen 1-5 PEC Zwolle

    Roda 1-1 Vitesse

    Ajax 2-1 Feyenoord

    Heerenveen 2-4 Heracles

NAC Breda 1-2 ADO Den Haag

  170. 1602:
Ajax's Christian Fischer; Feyenoord's Ruud Vormer

Before we kick-off in Germany, let's catch up with some action which has already finished over the border in the Netherlands.

Dutch champions Ajax are back on track after defeat by AZ Alkmaar last weekend with a 2-1 home win over arch rivals Feyenoord. Striker Kolbeinn Sigthorsson scored both goals as they recovered from going a goal down to Graziano Pelle's strike. The defeat was Feyenoord's third straight loss - their worst ever start to a season.

PSV Eindhoven and FC Zwolle maintained their winning starts to the season on Saturday with wins over Go Ahead Eagles and NEC Nijmegen respectively to top the table with nine points.

  171. 1559:

  173. 1554:
Borussia Dortmund v Eintracht Braunschweig (1630 BST)

Today is also a special landmark for Robert Lewandowski. The 24-year-old is set to make his 100th league appearance for Dortmund, having scored 55 goals in Germany's top flight.

  174. 1552:
Borussia Dortmund v Eintracht Braunschweig (1630 BST)

Dortmund might have lost Gotze following the Germany international's switch to Bavaria for a record Bundesliga transfer fee, but perhaps more importantly they managed to keep hold of Poland striker Robert Lewandowski. For now, at least.

Lewandowski is following Gotze to the Allianz Arena on a free transfer next summer, although reports today that he has been handed a pay rise from £20k a week to £60k a week to keep him at Dortmund for the next 12 months.

Are Dortmund good enough to steal the German crown back from Bayern? How much will they miss Mario Gotze, who defected to their arch-enemies?

You tell us. Let your voice be heard on all things European by using #bbceurofooty or via text on 81111 (UK only).

  176. 1542:
La Liga Spanish league, La Liga

After that German encounter, we head down to Spain where Barcelona and Real Madrid are preparing for their opening matches of the new La Liga season.

Defending champions Barca entertain Levante, who finished mid-table last season, at the Nou Camp and are led for the first time by new boss Gerardo Martino. The Argentine was appointed last month after replacing Tito Vilanova who stepped down to continue his treatment for cancer.

Arch enemies Real also have a new man at the helm as they host a Real Betis side which exceeded expectations to finish seventh last term. Carlo Ancelotti will be expected to bring La Liga crown back to the Bernabeu following the departure of Jose Mourinho to Chelsea.

  177. 1539:
    German Bundesliga

We begin in the Ruhr Valley where Borussia Dortmund host a Eintracht Braunschweig side revelling in their first season since 1985 back among the Bundesliga big boys.

Jurgen Klopp's side started their campaign in fine style with a 4-0 victory at Augsburg, where new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang became only the sixth player to score a hat-trick on his Bundesliga debut.

  178. 1535:

Hello! Welcome to day two of our weekend jaunt around Europe. Yesterday, we spent a large portion of our time in Germany, focusing on Bayern's 1-0 win at Eintract Frankfurt, before dashing to the sun-filled south of France where Marseille sparkled against Evian.

Today, we will be visiting more European destinations than a low-budget airline as we wing our way across the continent. So sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.

  179. 1530:
    Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund were the nearly men of German football last season. After finishing second to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, Die Schwarzgelben's misery was compounded by their defeat in the Champions League final against the same opposition.

But Jurgen Klopp's men struck a psychological blow by beating their nemesis in the German Supercup last month. Now they are aiming to exact even greater revenge by wrestling the Bundesliga crown back from their fierce rivals.
