Chris Coleman wants Wales contract sorted out with FAW

Chris Coleman says his new contract as Wales manager needs to be sorted out with the Football Association of Wales.

The ex-Fulham boss has a contract until the summer of 2014.

He saw his Wales side record a 0-0 draw with the Republic of Ireland in a friendly international at Cardiff City Stadium on Wednesday.

"It needs to be [sorted] and the FAW will tell you the same thing," said Coleman. "We all need it to be resolved and it's not a million miles away."

Coleman, who succeeded Gary Speed after his death in November 2011, wants to lead Wales in their Euro 2016 campaign.

Close friend Speed was found hanged in the garage at his home near Chester in November 2011 at the age of 42.

Wales lost their first four games under Coleman, including a 6-1 away defeat by Serbia in the current World Cup qualifying campaign, and have given up on qualifying for the finals in Brazil.

Captain Ashley Williams has stated publicly it would be "stupid" to discard Coleman after the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Terry Yorath, a former Wales manager, has said that Coleman deserves a new contract to take his side forward to the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

Coleman has made no secret of his desire to continue as Wales manager and he is confident a new deal will be struck with the FAW soon.

"I've had two chats with [FAW chief executive] Jonathan Ford which have been very positive," said Coleman.

"The reason I want to take it again is because the last 18 months or two years have been difficult, but the next campaign I expect to have a real good run at it.

"And the two conversations we've had have been pretty good, but I think they want it resolved quickly too."
