Chris Budrys kept Airbus UK's Europa League hopes alive with a late headed equaliser against Ventspils at Wrexham.
Airbus had the better of the chances during the first half with Glenn Rule, Ryan Wade and Wayne Riley going close.
Eduard Sukhanov hit the crossbar for Ventspils before Simonas Paulius scored from close range after good work by Ahmed Abdultaofik.
Riley struck the crossbar but Airbus equalised when substitute Nicky Ward's free-kick found Budrys at the far post.
Ian Kearney and Rule both had late chances for Andy Preece's side, who travel to Latvia to face Ventspils in the second leg next Thursday.
Airbus UK Broughton manager Andy Preece:
"To finish the game as strong as we have with the amount of training the lads have put in is a phenomenal effort.
"The last 10 minutes we looked the likely team to win the game.
"A couple of decisions that we didn't get gave us a bit of a spur - the fact we were hard done by a couple of stonewall penalties that weren't given.
"Now we've given ourselves a chance and that's all we wanted to do - have a chance in the second leg, which we've done."
