Joe Edwards scored the winner after only 51 seconds as Yeovil moved up to fourth in League One by beating Crewe.

James Hayter's neat chest-down found Edwards, who drilled into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Crewe were denied an equaliser by the outstanding Marek Stech, who saved from Byron Moore, Max Clayton and Matt Tootle in the first half.

But Yeovil, who lost Byron Webster and Nathan Ralph to injury, held on with a play-off spot already sealed.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Yeovil Town boss Gary Johnson told BBC Somerset:

"The boys are going to need their break for the next week or so because mentally we've put them through the mill a little bit.

"We had to sub a sub, so there were a few icebergs out there today that we had to manoeuvre around but we've done that.

"Although it wasn't a fantastic end of season game, we wanted to win it and had to hang in there a little bit.

"I thought we finished quite well so at least we found something. But it was a great little crowd today and they've got to be with us for the next couple of weeks."
