Telford United sign Grimsby Town defender Simon Ford on loan

Telford United have signed Grimsby Town defender Simon Ford on loan until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old joined the Mariners in August but has not made an appearance all season.

"We need his experience more than anything," Telford boss Mark Cooper told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"He'll be a calming influence at the back, support our younger players and add that certain something we need to iron out some of the rush and panic."

Telford are currently bottom of the Blue Square Bet Premier, four points adrift of 20th-placed Gateshead having played five games more.

Andy Sinton was sacked as manager in January after the Bucks went on a winless run which stretched back to October, when they beat Dartford 4-1.

Mark Cooper replaced him as interim boss until the end of the season but is yet to secure a victory.

But he added: "Eleven games to go, and it's not all doom and gloom.

"We've made a few changes and hopefully Simon Ford's arrival will help us to a win or two that will put a different perspective on things."
