Macclesfield v Gateshead
Chandler 2′, 45′ Brown 18′ Donaldson 20′
- FT 90 +3
- HT 0-4
Gateshead claimed their first victory of 2013 as three goals in the first 20 minutes helped them beat Macclesfield.
Jamie Chandler put the visitors ahead in the second minute when he finished well from Peter Bore's cross.
James Brown made it 2-0 with an angled effort for his first Gateshead goal before Ryan Donaldson took on two home defenders and shot into the top corner.
Chandler grabbed a spectacular second, volleying home from 18 yards out after more good work from Bore.
Seventh-placed Macclesfield, unbeaten in their previous six league games, had chances but Wade Fairhurst fired wide, John Paul Kissock headed off target and Matthew Barnes-Homer was denied by Gateshead goalkeeper Adam Bartlett.
The Heed had lost their previous six games and not won since beating Barrow 2-0 on 26 December, but this victory sees them move out of the Blue Square Bet Premier relegation zone and up to 20th.[an error occurred while processing this directive]
