Grimsby held on against AFC Telford to maintain their three-point lead at the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Richard Brodie put the Mariners ahead, rolling the ball into the bottom right corner after Joe Colbeck's pass put him through on goal.

Colbeck nearly created a second as his cross was converted by Andy Cook, but he was adjudged to have been offside.

The Bucks finished well but could not find an equaliser and have now gone 18 games in the league without a victory.

Grimsby Town joint-manager Rob Scott told BBC Radio Humberside:

"We weren't brilliant today but I thought Joe Colbeck was the difference for us - I thought he was outstanding today.

"He's biding his time and I think Joe epitomises what we are as a squad. Every day he comes in bright and he's enthusiastic and he wants to work hard and he's got talent as well, and I think that runs through the squad.

"I felt if we could get it out wide then we could cause them problems and again that's where the goal has come from - a wide player picking it up and driving on. We did enough to win the game and that's what it's about."
