Managerless Oldham earned their first victory in 10 league games as they defeated MK Dons.

On-loan Lee Barnard's 22nd-minute Latics opener was cancelled out when Daniel Powell chased Jon Otsemobor's long ball to drill home.

Jean Yves M'voto then headed home Jose Baxter's free-kick to put the Latics back in front just before the break.

Oldham wrapped up victory when Jordan Obita's cross was not cleared and Chris Iwelumo slammed in from close range.

The Latics were led by caretaker boss Tony Philliskirk, their youth team coach.

But the club hope to name a replacement for the departed Paul Dickov before facing Everton in an FA Cup fifth round tie at Boundary Park.

The Dons, without the suspended Antony Kay and Ryan Lowe, have now slipped into the bottom half of the League One table after suffering a third straight defeat.

Oldham caretaker manager Tony Philliskirk told BBC Radio Manchester:

"I was really delighted with how we won.

"If you play scruffy and win 1-0, or play fantastic and lose 2-1 - I know what I'd take. But for long periods of the game we played well and won.

"The players should gain a lot of confidence from that. Hopefully we can go into the future league games and acquire the points we need to stay up."

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"I've never said sorry to the chairman, but I've just apologise to him.

"I'll apologise to the fans as well - it wasn't acceptable.

"The blue team worked harder than the white team, that's how basic it was.

"A person who has never been to a football match could have told you what was wrong."
