Simon Dawkins: Aston Villa sign Tottenham striker on loan

Aston Villa have taken striker Simon Dawkins on loan from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old was released by Spurs in 2009 following long-term injury problems but re-joined them in 2011.

He spent the past two seasons on loan at Major League Soccer side San Jose Earthquakes and previously had a loan spell at Leyton Orient.

Dawkins scored 14 goals in his two seasons in the MLS.
