    It's now time to go over to Tom Rostance who will be seeing you through today's football action, which includes seven Premier League matches. There should be plenty of thrills and spills, with lots of transfer chat in the aftermath of the matches.     Before we draw to a close, don't forget to keep up to date with the toll the weather is taking on sport with our news story. At present all the Premier League and Championship games are going ahead, although League One, League Two and Blue Square Bet Premier games have been heavily hit.

    Watford boss Gianfranco Zola is being linked with taking over as manager at his former club Chelsea.

    But the Italian told BBC Three Counties Radio: "To be honest I am more focused on what I have to do here."

    "I know people have been writing things but my mind is completely on this job."

    All Championship games are currently going ahead and the League One game between Notts County and Sheffield United is also set to go ahead as planned after a pitch inspection.

    To say Southampton's sacking of Nigel Adkins came from left field is an understatement.

    Everton boss David Moyes says: "I'm very surprised. I was talking to my staff during the week and complimenting how well Nigel Adkins had done.

    "He'd just got himself out of the bottom three and moved up and I don't think there would have been many people looking at Nigel Adkins to be sacked in that position."

    Chelsea FC on Twitter: "Chelsea v Arsenal to go ahead unless weather significantly worsens. Fans attending are asked to please leave extra time for journey."

  10. 1116: 

    Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup confirmed on Friday that the club has received offers for striker Danny Graham, with Sunderland and Norwich City believed to have made the bids.

    "Everywhere it is saying there have been some official bids, it is true," said Laudrup.

    Amidst the shenanigans at Southampton yesterday in replacing Nigel Adkins with Mauricio Pochettino, the south coast club also confirmed the signing of Norwegian international defender Vegard Forren for an undisclosed fee.

    The 24-year-old centre-back said: "It's a dream come true for me. Southampton is a big club in the Premier League.

    "This is where I have always wanted to come and play football. The plan the chairman has for this club is fantastic, I hope I can join in."

    Nishant Dhruve on Twitter: "Arsenal need a good striker like Cavani or Jovetic and a good defensive midfielder."

    Jake Steele on Twitter: "It would make my day if Norwich sign Gary Hooper. Him and Holty up front would be unstoppable!"

    Dan Jeffries on Twitter: "Bristol City manager O'Driscoll needs to sign a centre-back and a creative midfielder to stand any chance of turning our season around."

    BBC Sport football expert Mark Lawrenson has been pitting his wits against actor and comedian Russell Brand in this week's Premier League predictions.

    Brand is a West Ham fan and reckons his side will beat QPR 2-1 but Lawro says the Hammers will lose 2-1.

  14. 1057: 

    Leicester City forward Jeffrey Schlupp, 20, is training with Premier League leaders Manchester United during a week-long trial.

    Foxes boss Nigel Pearson confirmed to BBC Radio Leicester, after his side's 1-0 win against Middlesbrough, that United counterpart Sir Alex Ferguson is casting his eye over the Ghana international.

    Travelling Aldershot fans can take a sigh of relief as the game at York is now on.

    York say on their website: "Upon further examination of the Bootham Crescent playing surface, match referee Trevor Kettle has decided that the planned pitch inspection scheduled for 12 noon is now no longer necessary and this afternoon's game will definitely go ahead.

    "The club would like to thank our ground staff, the volunteers and members of the coaching staff who have worked hard to get the game on."

  17. 1045: 

    League Two side York are going to have a further 12:00 GMT pitch inspection at Bootham Crescent ahead of their game against Aldershot.

  18. 1038: 

    The League One matches involving Doncaster Rovers v Leyton Orient and Swindon v Shrewsbury pass morning pitch inspections. League Two side Northampton confirm their match with Burton is also on.

    Adam Jones on Twitter: "Fulham need three things. A centre-back, a creative central midfielder and a miracle v Manchester City today. We lost Dempsey and Dembele but not replaced them."

    BBC South Today sports editor Tony Husband on new Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino's first news conference: "Every answer, other than a brief hello in English was provided by an interpreter, but Pochettino said communication would be no issue with his players. 'Football is an international language,' he said."

    QPR are hoping to sign Rennes and France midfielder Yann M'Vila, 22, but their plans could be disrupted by Rubin Kazan and Tottenham Hotspur also being interested in the player, reports The Times.

  22. 1015: 

    Wigan confirm their Premier League clash with Sunderland will be played.

    The club says: "The club can confirm that today's Premier League match against Sunderland at the DW Stadium WILL GO AHEAD as scheduled at 3.00pm.

    "A plan of action involving DW Stadium staff working through the night was put in place to ensure that today's game would survive the inclement weather conditions."

    Dan Dawson on Twitter: "Sacking Adkins is best news of the transfer window for Villa fans so far. Looks like a bizarre decision."

    Three Championship games pass pitch inspections this morning. Ipswich v Barnsley, Millwall v Burnley and Watford v Huddersfield each get the green light.

    It may not be a new signing but Arsenal fans will be sighing with relief after forward Theo Walcott signed a new deal with the Gunners.

    The 23-year-old signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract with the club which is worth £100,000 a week. He will also get a £3m signing-on bonus.

    West Brom against Aston Villa is today's 1730 GMT kick-off and that game is under threat. Albion are saying they are making 'concerted efforts' to get The Hawthorns ready.

    In the Championship, Ipswich, Millwall and Watford are all having 09:00 GMT pitch inspections on Saturday morning, while Birmingham and Peterborough are also planning early inspections.

    League One games off: Bury v Stevenage, Crawley Town v Carlisle, Crewe v MK Dons, Hartlepool v Colchester United, Scunthorpe v Portsmouth, Yeovil v Preston.

    Liverpool's frustrations at not being able to sign their former player Tom Ince from Blackpool means they have diverted their attentions to trying to bring in Inter Milan's Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho, 20. (Daily Telegrpah)

    QPR are interested in signing striker Peter Odemwingie and defender Jonas Olsson from West Brom but Baggies boss Steve Clarke has spoken to the pair and told them to forget about leaving The Hawthorns. (Express and Star)

    League One and League Two have been badly hit with 14 games in those two divisions being called off because of adverse weather conditions. Other sporting events have also been called off and you can get the latest from our rolling news story to find out more.
