Hearts' Ryan Stevenson will miss the Scottish Communities League Cup semi-final against Inverness after the Scottish FA upheld a two-match ban.
The midfielder challenged the suspension he was offered for a tackle on Hibernian's James McPake.
The Tynecastle side's next outing, the league encounter with Celtic, is followed by their cup date with the Highlanders at Easter Road.
Stevenson was found guilty of "Serious Foul Play on an opponent".
And, he told the Hearts website: "It was a whole hearted challenge, two players going for the ball.
"However the decision has been made and I will just need to accept it."
Hibs manager Pat Fenlon described the challenge on his captain McPake as "shocking" revealed the defender had suffered a gash on his shin.
The match on 3 January at Tynecastle finished 0-0.
