Chris Wilder hails Oxford United professionalism

Oxford United manager Chris Wilder has hailed his side's professionalism after they took maximum points from their Christmas fixtures.

The U's recorded wins over Exeter, AFC Wimbledon and Cheltenham to earn nine points and climb up to 13th in League Two and five points off the play offs.

United cancelled their Christmas parties to concentrate on the festive matches.

"It was a fantastic effort over Christmas," Wilder told BBC Oxford.

Oxford's 1-0 victory over high-flying Cheltenham on New Year's Day was their fourth win in a row and it delighted Wilder.

"It was a tight game against a top side in this league and to get a victory is all credit to the players," he said.

"I said their professionalism and application over this period would be rewarded if they were spot on and they've been right and spot on.

"To get nine points out of nine means we look forward to the games coming up."
