Jamille Matt was again the match winner as Kidderminster Harriers beat Hereford United at Edgar Street to clock up their seventh straight league win.

Matt struck in a goalmouth scramble after just six minutes to claim his seventh goal in five league starts.

The goal was against the run of play, the Bulls going close when Harriers keeper Danny Lewis denied Brian Smikle.

Marley Watkins also went close for the hosts, whose last chance went when Smikle's strike was blocked.

That condemned Hereford, playing their first league game in almost three weeks, to their first home Blue Square Bet Premier defeat in almost three months.

Anthony Malbon went close to adding a second for the Harriers, but he finished weakly from 12 yards out - and Matt's early goal proved enough to lift his side to fifth in the Blues Square Bet Premier.

The Jamaica-born striker has only been back in action for just over a month, having not played since February because of a citizenship problem.

Harriers and Hereford are due to meet again at Aggborough in the return fixture on New Year's Day, but the two sides are both in action again before then, this Saturday, when the Bulls host Newport and the Harriers travel to Forest Green.
