As it happened

  1. 1923:

Right, that's it for tonight. Get yourselves plenty of rest and join us for all the big action tomorrow. See you there.

  2. 1920:
    BBC Radio 5 live

On Sunday at 1300 GMT on BBC Radio 5 live, John Murray, Mark Lawrenson, and ex-Manchester United manager Ron Atkinson will be bringing full build-up to the Manchester derby, with updates to follow once the game kicks-off.

Former winger Kevin Kilbane will then be at Goodison Park alongside Conor McNamara as the pair provide commentary on Everton's game against Tottenham from 1500.

If you would prefer to listen to commentary of Liverpool's game at West Ham, Alan Green, Ian Brown and Dean Kiely will guide you through all the action from 1555 at Upton Park on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra.

  3. 1918:

Tomorrow promises much. The Manchester derby is about as big as it gets at the minute. Here's what we've got planned:

  4. 1918:
MOTD's Nigel Adderley at the DW StadiumWigan 2-2 QPR

"Mixed emotions for Queens Park Rangers, but Harry Redknapp knows his side must start winning games soon if they are to climb away from trouble. Djibril Cisse's goal put them within sight of a first win this season only for poor defending to allow Wigan back in."

  5. 1917:
MOTD's John Roder at the Liberty StadiumSwansea 3-4 Norwich

"What an astonishing game. There were nine goals shared between these two sides in their two meetings last season, but sevenm more today. Michu, who is still on fire, grabbed two including a late consolation, but it's Robert Snodgrass's second-half free-kick that separates the sides."

  6. 1916:
MOTD's Jonathan Pearce at the Stadium of LightSunderland 1-3 Chelsea

"Chelsea made harder work of it than they would have liked in the end but Fernando Torres was brave to take the penalty.

"Sunderland, after being outgunned in midfield to start with, made a game of it despite being 3-0 down. Adam Johnson scored a good goal but they couldn't fight back."

  7. 1916:
MOTD's Steve Wilson at St Mary'sSouthampton 1-0 Reading

"Southampton were certainly the better team and deserved the win, which they got through a good goal by Jason Puncheon. He was also unlucky to have a goal disallowed for the slightest of touches from Maya Yoshida on the Reading goalkeeper.

"Reading had a big shout for two penalties in the first half but it appears Southampton have turned the corner. But for Reading, it looks like this will be a long season."

  8. 1915:
    Aston Villa 0-0 Stoke

MOTD commentator Martin Fisher at Villa Park: "Most of us thought it would be tight and probably goalless - and that's how it proved. All Villa's chances fell to Christian Benteke but great blocks by Stoke's defence kept him out. Darren Bent came on for the last 20 minutes but hardly had a sniff. As for Stoke, 90 minutes and not a single shot to test Brad Guzan. This is one best forgotten."

  9. 1914:
MOTD's John Motson at the EmiratesArsenal 2-0 West Brom

"The referee will be questioned over two important decisions leading to the penalties. But it is three defeats in a row for West Brom, while Arsenal are back on track."

  10. 1913:

So that is that for today's action - here's a reminder of how the Premier League games finished up...

  11. 1913:
    FULL-TIME- Wolves 1-0 Birmingham

Relief all round for Wolves. A thoroughly deserved win.

  12. 1905:
    FINAL FIVE

Kevin Doyle heads a corner wide. Wolves still can't find the second goal as we tick into the final five minutes.

  13. 1903:
    SUBSTITUTION

Change for Wolves - Jermaine Pennant is on for Sylvan Ebanks-Blake. Still this game is not beyond Birmingham's reaches.

  14. 1901:

Eight minutes remain at Molineux. This is the biggest 1-0 hiding I've seen in a while.

  15. 1852:

A Swansea City fan has been arrested over allegations of racial abuse towards a Norwich player at the Liberty Stadium, the club has confirmed.

Norwich manager Chris Hughton said a racial gesture had been made towards Cameroon international defender Sebastien Bassong during Saturday's Premier League match.

  16. 1849:

Birmingham goalkeeper Jack Butland is forced to make another decent save at his near post from a header from a corner. With 20 minutes to go the danger is that Birmingham may sneak a leveller here. They should be dead and buried.

  17. 1844:
    Aston Villa 0-0 Stoke

Journalists have been quizzing Villa boss Paul Lambert again about his decision not to play Darren Bent from the start today. They were given short shrift.

He said: "Listen, I'm going to stop you. I ain't answering any more questions on it.

"I told you, I answered about 305 the other night. I'm not answering anymore."

  18. 1841:

Some more classic Ian Holloway. The new Crystal Palace manager was not happy with the reaction of some of Blackpool's staff during the 2-2 draw between the sides. Holloway of course took Blackpool into the top flight.

He said: "They were delighted at the end but I didn't like the reaction of one of the men on their bench.

"One of the new fellas looked straight at me when they equalised.

"It's a war out there and I carried my shield very proud. He didn't stare me out - no one can stare me out."

  19. 1840:
    HITS THE WOODWORK

Incredible. Roger Johnson thumps a volley against the crossbar from another Wolves corner. Birmingham somehow holding on. The floodgates are about to open though - surely?

  20. 1838:

Wolves close again! Bakary Sako wriggles his way into the penalty area, cuts back on to his left foot and smashes a rising drive just over the bar. This could be four or five nil by now.

  21. 1834:
    CLOSE!

Kevin Doyle is next to threaten for Wolves, firing wide from 25 yards after a strong run through the Birmingham defence. The Blues are rattled here, without a doubt.

  22. 1828:
    CLOSE!

Wolves have come out at 100mph for the second half. A corner is helped on at the near post and Christophe Berra arriving at pace at the back stick volleys high into the stands.

  23. 1827:

Bjorn Sigurdarson finds himself clean through for Wolves in the opening seconds of the half, he dawdles and Jack Butland stands up well to save his shot easily. The jeers of the home crowd are eased somewhat by the lifting of an offside flag against the Icelandic striker.

  24. 1824:
    KICK-OFF- Wolves 1-0 Birmingham

The second half is under way.

  25. 1824:
    SUBSTITUTION

Change for Birmingham at the break as Ravel Morrison comes on for Jonathan Spector.

  26. 1822:

The second half is about to get underway at Molineux. Can Birmingham find a way back into the match?

  27. 1811:

The top half of the Premier League table is looking immensely congested at the moment. Tottenham are currently in fourth place on 26 points, while Norwich are in 11th place on 22 points.

What price a return to Europe for the Canaries? Someone call Jeremy Goss...

  28. 1808:
    HALF-TIME- Wolves 1-0 Birmingham
  29. 1807:

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres after he scored four goals in his last two games on BBC Radio 5 live: "It was a long time not to score in the Premier League. But I have scored a few this week, and I was very happy to see the team winning.

"We are playing a bit different now, and we do not pass the ball as much as we did in the final third and we play a bit more direct. We are attacking more and creating more.

"Normally, it takes some time with a new manager but the last two results will give us more confidence."

  30. 1805:
    Arsenal 2-0 West Brom

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been talking about the contentious penalty awarded to Santi Cazorla today.

He said: "No I haven't reviewed it. I am sorry if it was not a penalty but I have spoken to Santi and he said he has been touched and lost his balance. Maybe he made more of it, I don't know. It's a difficult decision, it can go against you, it went for us today. That's what it is.

"What I mean is, when he [a player] is touched, he goes down, the referee can give or not give the penalty. Of course I will speak to Santi if he has not been touched. I will look at it, don't worry."

  31. 1802:
    Swansea 3-4 Norwich

    Norwich boss Chris Hughton:

"Swansea are a wonderful footballing side, and it's obvious why they've had such a good start. We didn't do ourselves any favours conceding in that second half, but we showed great character to come back at them. We are in a period of good momentum and today we also had some good fortune.

"At 3-2 we had a real resilience, we weathered the storm, then we came back. I thought it was a fair result today, on the balance of play. We deserved it. Has this been overdue? Perhaps. We've been working hard for it."

  32. 1801:

Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway was very emotional when speaking to BBC Radio 5 live's Jacqui Oatley a little earlier. He has also been speaking about the prospect of selling striker Wilfried Zaha. He says: "My club don't want to sell him, we want to keep him to help us up. He's got a big, big contract. He must deal with adulation."

  33. 1757:
    Swansea 3-4 Norwich

    Swansea manager Michael Laudrup:

"In the first half we conceded three goals and it was not a very good performance. But the first half was as bad as the second was good. I think the players bounced back great. We scored two in 15 minutes and had a third one ruled out, which was a little harsh. But I don't think we deserved to win today after that first-half performance. I know my team has a lot of character, which is why I am disappointed in our first half. I was sure Michu would contribute [those goals]. But I don't think he really cares about the two goals today."

  34. 1754:
GOAL- Wolves 1-0 Birmingham - Marlon King OG (34 mins)

Disaster zone from Birmingham. Wolves have a free-kick wide on the right, Bakary Sako drills the ball in to the near post and Marlon King can't resist sticking his knee out and turning the ball in at the near post. A striker's piece of defending.

  35. 1753:
    BBC Radio 5 live

Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway on BBC Radio 5 live after the 2-2 draw with former club Blackpool: "They were singing 'Ollie, Ollie, what's the score?' They knew the pride I had when managing the club was genuine and real, and they knew how far and deep I went into the community to bang the drum about the club.

"They said previously it was the best trip they had ever been on, and it was certainly the best trip I had ever been on and I was petrified about it going wrong. If it does go wrong, it won't be of my making."

  36. 1753:
    Wigan 2-2 QPR

QPR manager Harry Redknapp tells BBC Sport: "It's still all to play for because other teams are not winning. I've been in worse situations [at Portsmouth] and managed to get out of it. It's not impossible but it's going to be hard. I don't want to wait until the last 10 games to start winning. A win now would make all the difference."

  37. 1750:

Half an hour in to the Championship game at Molinuex and it remains goalless between Wolvse and Birmingham. A scrappy affair so far.

  38. 1745:

Sunderland v Reading is on Tuesday night now, that game was postponed back in August due to a waterlogged pitch. A massive game for both teams.

If Sunderland win, they could move up to 15th place. A Reading win would see the Royals move to within a point of the Black Cats. Crunch time.

  39. 1745:
Former Arsenal and England defender Martin Keown on Final Score:

"I think it will be an uncomfortable night for Sunderland on Tuesday against Reading as they'll be expected to win. If they do not start well, I can see Reading taking control and grinding out a win."

You can watch Final Score now on the BBC HD channel, red button and BBC Sport website.

  40. 1743:
Former Liverpool, Leeds and England striker Robbie Fowler on Final Score:

"I think Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez's CV is excellent and it would not surprise me if Chelsea put a great run together and put some pressure on the Manchester clubs at the top of the table."

You can watch Final Score now on the BBC HD channel, red button and BBC Sport website.

  41. 1740:
    Southampton 1-0 Reading

    Reading manager Brian McDermott:

"In the first half we had an opportunity and we hit the post. If we had gone a goal ahead then that would've been very important but that didn't happen.

"We've had a very disappointing day but we have to pick ourselves up quickly. We weren't solid enough and we weren't as good as we needed to be.

"We're disappointed that we didn't kick on after their goal and normally we come storming back and that's something we have to be aware of."

  42. 1739:
    GET INVOLVED

Greg Matthews on Twitter: "What an absolutely massive game Sunderland v Reading is now on Tuesday night."

The Barnicle on Twitter: "Has it sunk into everyone how good Mata is yet or what?"

Sam Loaker on Twitter: "Norwich are only four points off a Champions League place!"

  43. 1739:

Mikel Arteta bagged himself two penalties today and the Arsenal midfielder is now the second-highest Spanish goalscorer in Premier League history.

Arteta has now hit 36 goals in the division, one ahead of former Gunners skipper Cesc Fabregas. The top scorer is of course Fernando Torres, who moved on to 78 with a brace today.

  44. 1732:
    GET INVOLVED

Matthew Fairhurst on Twitter: "Everyone is banging on about Wilshere's performance, but it cannot have been better than James McCarthy's performance for Wigan. Sensational."

  45. 1732:
    Arsenal 2-0 West Brom

West Brom manager Steve Clarke: "I think we were hard done by. There was clear daylight between Steven Reid and Santi Cazorla for the first penalty. There was a penalty for us for a Per Mertesacker handball but he gave a free-kick the other way. It was the easy way out when you come to a big stadium and the crowd are on your back. I've got no complaints with the second penalty but there was a foul in the build-up. Up until the (first) penalty I thought we had good control defensively but we didn't do enough offensively."

  46. 1731:
    Wigan 2-2 QPR

Queens Park Rangers defender Ryan Nelsen on his team setting a new record for the longest winless start to a Premier League season after a 16th game without a win: "It's astonishing to tell you the truth. There's not been that many games where we have been out of it. But that's the fine line of the Premier League. There's no excuses. We're confident we can get out of it. We feel if we can get one win then we will get two and we'll get going."

  47. 1727:
Former Liverpool, Leeds and England striker Robbie Fowler on Final Score:

"The emphasis when you are at the bottom of the table is to get points at home. If you do that consistently, by definition, you will climb the table.

"Southampton have done that today, and have even been scraping the odd point away from home. Their opponents Reading are playing great football but sometimes you need to scrap to get the points."

You can watch Final Score now on the BBC HD channel, red button and BBC Sport website.

  48. 1727:
    Aston Villa 0-0 Stoke

Stoke boss Tony Pulis: "We're pleased with the draw. We played some good football as well, but that's for others to judge.

"Villa have got some good young players and when their confidence is high they play with a lot of energy.

"But we restricted them and Asmir [Begovic] hardly had a save to make. We could have offered more of a threat going forward."

On Ryan Shotton's red card: "I'm disappointed with the two bookings when you compare those with the tackle on Glenn Whelan [by Villa's Ciaran Clark].

"But you cannot come on here and criticise the referee and say they are doing something different for each side.

"I'm not going to do that because they [the FA] have took money off me before for doing that.

"But it was pretty bizarre for me and disappointing."

  49. 1725:
Former Arsenal and England defender Martin Keown on Final Score:

"I do not think Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is a fan of buying in January. He will buy if he sees an opportunity, but at the moment, it is about what he is working with.

"I think the contract situation with Theo Walcott is a shame, and it will be a real shame if Arsenal lose him. Wenger will stand firm though, and do what is best for the club.

"I think it will be wrong from Theo if he leaves now. He moved very early to Arsenal, and now people are saying 'no' to him about his reported demands."

You can watch Final Score now on the BBC HD channel, red button and BBC Sport website.

  50. 1721:
    KICK-OFF- Wolves v Birmingham (1720 GMT)

    Game on at Wolves.

  51. 1721:

That injury to Adam Lallana could be bad news for the Saints. Their captain has been excellent so far this season.

  52. 1720:
    Southampton 1-0 Reading

    Southampton manager Nigel Adkins:

"I thought we dominated the game and we were worthy winners. The crowd got behind the players, we played with a good tempo and it was a good 1-0 victory.

"The goal was excellent and one from the training ground where we get the full-backs forward.

"Adam (Lallana) has a knee injury, he has a brace on, as we always do in that situation, and he is on crutches but we will have to assess it in the next 24 hours."

  53. 1720:
    Arsenal 2-0 West Brom

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "Overall, we played well, created chances and kept a clean sheet. There was no room for dropping any points and I feel it is a positive day. It would have relaxed me (if we had taken our chances). We were a bit nervous when we had chances because our backs were to the wall."

Asked if his side were fortunate being awarded the first penalty, Wenger adds: "A little bit yes. I spoke to (Santi) Cazorla and he said he (Steven Reid) tapped him."

  54. 1719:
    GET INVOLVED

Crobs on Twitter: "Another superb performance from Southampton! See what keeping your manager under pressure can do! Only one Nigel Adkins!"

  55. 1719:
    GET INVOLVED

Charlie on text via 81111: "After all the previous focus on Saints' poor defence, they have now only conceded four goals from the last six matches. What a turn-around! Surely one of the best records in the league over that period?"

  56. 1717:

The late Championship game of the day comes at Molineux, with Wolves and Birmingham both a lot nearer to the bottom three than they would have expected to be. With these two in 18th and 19th in the Championship a win tonight could be vital.

  57. 1717:
    LINE-UPS- Wolves v Birmingham (1720 GMT)

Wolverhampton: Ikeme, Foley, Johnson, Berra, Ward, Doumbia, Henry, Sako, Sigurdarson, Ebanks-Blake, Doyle. Subs: Stearman, Nouble, Pennant, Batth, Davis, Forde, De Vries.

Birmingham: Butland, Caddis, Davies, Caldwell, Robinson, Elliott, Spector, Mullins, Hall, Redmond, King. Subs: Burke, Lovenkrands, Morrison, Doyle, Packwood, Hancox, Diop.

    Referee: Anthony Taylor (Cheshire)

  58. 1714:
    FOOTBALL LEAGUE UPDATE

There were goals galore at Sixfields in League Two with four goals in the opening 30 minutes between Northampton and Cheltenham but it was the Robins who ran out 3-2 victors thanks to a late Darryl Duffy strike. League leaders Gillingham extended their lead at the top of the table thanks to a brace from veteran striker Deon Burton in a 2-0 win against Rotherham. Bristol Rovers dropped into the bottom two after Sam Williams' scored the only goal of the game for Dagenham and Redbridge.

  59. 1712:
    GET INVOLVED

Kieran Houston on Twitter: "Tony Pulis resents people calling Stoke a rugby team... Then sends Crouch on wearing a mouth guard."

  60. 1712:
Former Liverpool, Leeds and England striker Robbie Fowler on Final Score:

"For me, Norwich's win at Swansea was the result of the day. Swansea were fresh from beating Arsenal at the Emirates, but Norwich took it to them from the off today and fully deserved the win."

You can watch Final Score now on the BBC HD channel, red button and BBC Sport website.

  61. 1711:
    SCOTTISH PREMIER UPDATE

It's been a profitable day for Inverness as they leapfrog Hibs into second place with a 3-0 win, all goals coming from headers. Motherwell are in third with a 3-2 triumph over Ross County and Hearts move up the table with a 2-0 home win over Aberdeen at Tynecastle, Ryan Stevenson and Callum Paterson the scorers. St Johnstone took the lead at St Mirren but after losing two players to red cards the Buddies' Paul Dummett levelled.

  62. 1710:
    FOOTBALL LEAGUE UPDATE

In League One, promotion-chasing Crawley had to settle for a point against Shrewsbury, while MK Dons ended their excellent run of form, suffering a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Brentford. Ryan Flynn, Nick Blackman and Neill Collins helped give Sheffield United all three points at Carlisle, while bottom side Hartlepool's woes continue with a 2-0 loss against Stevenage. Scunthorpe fell to their third successive league defeat in a 2-1 defeat against Eddie Howe's Bournemouth. League leaders Tranmere failed to extend the gap at the top of the table with Jake Jervis securing a valuable point for Portsmouth in a 2-2 draw.

  63. 1708:
    GET INVOLVED

Damien in London on text via 81111: "Losing Lambert and gaining Hughton couldn't have worked out any better for Norwich! Over halfway to the magical 40 points now!"

Ruairi in London on text via 81111: "Trying to remember a time where Stoke weren't last on Match of the Day, Incredibly boring side!"

Tony in Chesham on text via 81111: "O'Neill is a myth. Never been a good manager. To think some wanted him as England boss."

  64. 1705:
    Aston Villa 0-0 Stoke

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert: "For 0-0 it was a decent spectacle. We played really well and had early dominance. I couldn't ask for any more other than a goal.

"We had a lot of ball and dominated the game possession-wise. The young lads at the back coped well with Stoke's physicality."

  65. 1705:
    GET INVOLVED

Oli on Twitter: "Massive result for Chris Hughton and Norwich today. That's 10 games unbeaten in all comps. Manager of the month for Hughton?"

  66. 1703:
    FOOTBALL LEAGUE UPDATE

In the Championship, there was late drama at Selhurst Park with Nouha Dicko scoring an injury time equaliser for Blackpool in what was the first meeting of the two clubs since Ian Holloway's exit to Crystal Palace. The result leaves Palace three points behind Championship leaders Cardiff.

Two goals from Faris Haroun helped give Middlesbrough to a 3-2 win against Peterborough, despite Posh pushing for a point with a brace from Dwight Gayle. James Vaughan helped Huddersfield to a point against Bolton in a 2-2 draw, while Barnsley thought they had won all three against Leicester through a Reuben Noble-Lazurus strike but with three minutes left on the clock Jamie Vardy popped up to secure a point for the Foxesin a 2-2 draw.

  67. 1703:
Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker on Twitter:

    "MOTD running order as follows: Swa/Nor, Sun/Che, Ars/WBA, Wig/QPR, Sou/Rea, AV/Sto. I'm sure you'll agree it picks itself. Haha."

Watch the programme on BBC One at 2230 GMT.

  68. 1701:
    NEW RECORD

QPR set a new Premier League record as they go 16 games without a win.

They are now eight points behind Wigan and the safety mark after today's 2-2 draw.

But remember what we said earlier - The last top-flight team to suffer a 16-game winless start to a season was Sheffield United in 1990, back in the days of the First Division. And they stayed up. They finished 13th! No need to panic yet. Maybe.

  69. 1700:
    GET INVOLVED

Oliver in London on text via 81111: "Ok performance today from Arsenal, but Arsene really needs to hold a training session on finishing because it has been poor to be kind."

David B on text via 81111: "What purpose would sacking O'Neill serve? None whatsoever... Other than guarantee relegation. No one expected Sunderland to struggle, but they are... And have to battle their way out of the situation. O'Neill's still the best man for that job."

  70. 1700:

Norwich City are now unbeaten in nine league games - their best run in the Premier League. What a job Chris Hughton is doing at Carrow Road. Swansea remain a very entertaining side to watch though and in Michu have the top scorer in the top flight.

  71. 1657:
    GET INVOLVED

Paul Charles on Twitter: "Chelsea have deserved it, but they're still far from being title contenders."

Matt Dodge Donnelly on Twitter: "Why do Sunderland have to go behind to start playing football, squad too good to be in bottom 3, but never look like winning!"

Brad on Twitter: "Spaniards are dominating the Premier League. Arteta, Torres, Mata and Michu have all scored today."

  72. 1657:

So Harry Redknapp has now guided QPR to three draws from three games since taking over. He may have stopped the rot, but is it enough? Wigan had enough chances to win that game today though - one point away from home has to be better than a defeat.

  73. 1655:

What an afternoon of action. Eighteen goals spread around the country, and plenty of talking points to get your teeth into later on on Match of the Day.

  74. 1653:
    GET INVOLVED

Dave, London on text: "Re 16 37. That's not going to help Stoke convince people they're not a rugby team."

Rory from Manchester on text: "Am I the only one who thinks sacking O'Neil is a terrible idea? Surely Wolves last season shows sacking an experienced manager who knows the club disrupts any progress that was being made. Let O'Neill turn things round!"

  75. 1653:
    FULL-TIME- Swansea 3-4 Norwich
  76. 1653:
    FULL-TIME- Sunderland 1-3 Chelsea
  77. 1652:
    FULL-TIME- Wigan 2-2 QPR
  78. 1651:
    FULL-TIME- Arsenal 2-0 West Brom
  79. 1651:
    FULL-TIME- Aston Villa 0-0 Stoke
  80. 1651:
    FULL-TIME- Southampton 1-0 Reading
  81. 1650:
GOAL- Swansea 3-4 Norwich - Michu (90 mins)

Jonathan de Guzman's excellent cross from the right is headed in at the back post by Michu - who is a goal machine. Too little too late I fear though.

  82. 1649:
RED CARD FOR STOKE- Ryan Shotton

This is very harsh indeed. Ryan Shotton, who had already been booked for dissent, picks up a second yellow for tripping Fabian Delph. I don't think there was any contact at all.

  83. 1648:
    GET INVOLVED

Ben Bix on Twitter: "2-4 Canaries showing a lot of strength, Swans were streets ahead for most of this half."

  84. 1648:
    CLOSE!

Lukas Podolski should wrap up the win for Arsenal but he shoots over from close range. Injury time beckons.

  85. 1645:
    GREAT SAVE!

QPR - it is not your time to concede though! Arouna Kone weaves through the Rangers defence and lays it off to Jordi Gomez, he hits it first time but Robert Green makes a sprawling save. Green has had a fine game today.

  88. 1642:

Great game at Swansea - who almost pull another one back against Norwich. Michu is off balance as he takes a Nathan Dyer pass and slides his shot wide of the post.

  89. 1640:

Sunderland have gone more direct and it is unsettling Chelsea. The crosses are raining in but Petr Cech stands firm. Sunderland are heading for a place in the bottom three.

Vincent Watts on Twitter: "I like Villa boss Paul Lambert, but this is a no win situation for him. He'll get slaughtered if Bent scores the winner."

  91. 1638:

West Brom are trying hard at Arsenal but they are posing no real threat at all. It all looks comfortable as we head into the last 10 for Arsenal.

  92. 1638:
    Southampton celebrate scoring

Jason Puncheon's goal was his third of the season - and as it stands is enough to lift Saints out of the bottom three.

  93. 1638:

There's more goals to come in Wigan. This is such an open game.

  94. 1637:
    CLOSE!

Reading's Adam Le Fondre gets a header completely wrong and puts his effort well wide as his side still trail 1-0 against Southampton.

The Saints nearly double their lead when Nathaniel Clyne shoots from a tight angle and Adam Federici, in the Reading goal, has to be alert to avoid being embarrassed.

  95. 1637:
    SUBSTITUTION

Former Villa striker Peter Crouch enters the action for Stoke - sporting a rugby-style mouthguard. The specially-designed protective shield, which colourfully features Stoke's club crest, is being worn by the England striker after he lost teeth in a painful encounter against Newcastle recently.

  97. 1634:
GOAL- Swansea 2-4 Norwich - Robert Snodgrass (77 mins)

Another fine free-kick puts Norwich back in control. Robert Snodgrass steps up to deliver the ball from 25 yards into the top corner. His delivery from dead balls has been fundamental to Norwich's form of late. Deserved goal.

  98. 1633:
    GREAT SAVE!

Adam Johnson almost claws Sunderland a step closer to parity - he whips in a beauty of a free-kick but Petr Cech digs it out from right under the crossbar. Top save.

  99. 1633:
    DISALLOWED GOAL

The ball is in the back of the net for Swansea but the goal is disallowed. A hanging corner from Jonathan de Guzman is headed upwards. Michu challenges Canaries keeper Mark Bunn for the ball, it is spilled and Israeli substitute Itay Shechter converts from close range. But, despite the public address system cranking up, referee Howard Webb has blown for a foul on Bunn and play resumes.

  100. 1633:

BBC Sport's Nabil Hassan at St Mary's on Twitter: "You're going down with the Redknapp" chant the Southampton fans to their Reading counterparts as Puncheon gives them the lead."

  101. 1631:
GOAL- Wigan 2-2 QPR - James McCarthy (74 mins)

Er - scratch all that. Wigan back on level terms immediately, and it's another good goal as well. Jean Beausejour crosses from the left and James McCarthy shows remarkable composure to take a touch and just poke the ball into the corner. His second of the afternoon.

  102. 1628:
GOAL- Wigan 1-2 QPR - Djibril Cisse (71 mins)

Wigan had dominated this half, but somehow QPR are ahead. Adrian Lopez has a nightmare at the back for Wigan. A real howler, as he gives the ball away under no pressure at all. Shaun Wright-Phillips is able to square the ball from the left and substitute Djibril Cisse is able to steer in with his left foot. Harry Redknapp in sight of a massive win. Monumental.

  103. 1628:
    SUBSTITUTION

Huge cheers around Villa Park as £24m striker Darren Bent appears from the bench for his first appearance in claret and blue since the end of October. The England international goes up front alongside Christian Benteke - can he provide the cutting edge sorely lacking by Paul Lambert's men?

  104. 1627:

We have about 20 minutes of a manic Premier League afternoon left. Goals everywhere you look - apart from Villa Park.

GOAL- Sunderland 1-3 Chelsea - Adam Johnson (66 mins)

The natives at Sunderland have been restless - but this goal brings them to their feet. What a hit. Adam Johnson is in space on the left waiting for the ball, it looks like he is going to cross in but instead he thrashes in an absolute scorcher with the outside of his foot and it flies in to the top corner. Superb strike.

  113. 1620:
    PENALTY TO ARSENAL

No doubts about this one. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain runs into the box, tricks his way past Chris Brunt who brings him down with a sliding challenge. Clear penalty.

  114. 1617:
GOAL- Swansea 2-3 Norwich - Jonathan de Guzman (59 mins)

What a game at the Liberty! Swansea looked dead and buried but are back in with a shout now. Norwich don't deal with a cross from the right, a header is left hanging in the area and Jonathan de Guzman arrives on it to thump in a low volley. Game on.

  115. 1616:
    Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill

Sunderland are set to slip further down the table, with Southampton's goal against Reading meaning that currently the Black Cats are in the bottom three.

  116. 1617:
GOAL- Southampton 1-0 Reading - Jason Puncheon (61 mins)

This could be a big goal at the foot of the table. Nathaniel Clyne makes ground down the right before sliding a pass into the stride of Jason Puncheon, the winger taking his time before firing in low from 15 yards. As it stands, that will lift the Saints out of the bottom three - with Sunderland slipping in.

  117. 1616:

Southampton make a bright start to the second half at St Mary's as Jason Puncheon's low shot is well saved by Reading goalkeeper Adam Federici, before Jay Rodriguez sees his effort on the turn go wide.

  122. 1613:

Chelsea are looking very slick now - is Martin O'Neill under real pressure?

    FOOTBALL LEAGUE UPDATE

In League One, promotion-chasing Crawley Town took an early lead against Shrewsbury but the Shrews hit back with goals from Matthew Richards and Jon Taylor to turn it around before the break. MK Dons continue their excellent run of form having not lost in their last nine matches in all competitions with Ryan Lowe arching the ball beyond Bees goalkeeper Simon Moore, but they were pegged back seconds before the break through Clayton Donaldson. Ryan Flynn and Nick Blackman have helped give Sheffield United the lead at Carlisle, while bottom side Hartlepool's woes continue with Marcus Haber tapping in a James Dunne cross for Stevenage. Scunthorpe are looking to avoid their third successive league defeat but Lewis Grabban and Wes Fogden have other ideas, giving Bournemouth a comfoRtable half-time lead. Meanwhile, Luke Murphy gave Crewe the lead at Preston, Coventry a beating Walsall 2-1 and Oldham lead Colchester 1-0, it's goalless between Yeovil and Notts County, while Kevin Lisbie has given Leyton Orient the lead at Bury.

  131. 1606:
GOAL- Sunderland 0-3 Chelsea - Juan Mata (49 mins)

Fernando Torres has definitely got a bit of swagger back. A cross from the right is only headed down, Torres instinctively swings his left foot at it and smacks a shot against the crossbar. Juan Mata follows up to cushion it into the net.

  132. 1605:

Chelsea close to a third at Sunderland, who are worryingly close to the relegation zone as things stand. Oscar almost sneaks in to a cross but his touch lets him down.

League leaders Gillingham had the better of the first half against Rotherham, with veteran Deon Burton volleying home for Martin Allen's side.

Bristol Rovers could drop into the bottom two should Sam Williams' goal for Dagenham and Redbridge be the only one of the game. In the battle of the play-off contenders Exeter have taken first blood away at Rochdale through Pat Baldwin and John O'Flynn. SCOTTISH PREMIER UPDATE

As things stand, Inverness are second in the Scottish Premier League. They are a goal up on Hibs thanks to Ross Draper's header, though they had to rely on Spanish keeper Antonio Reguero to tip Leigh Griffiths's shot over the bar after a mix-up with Josh Meekings. At Fir Park, Michael Higdon levelled for Motherwell after Rocco Quinn had put Ross County in front. Murray Davidson's goal for St Johnstone is the difference between them and St Mirren in Paisley, and at Tynecastle Hearts lead Aberdeen 1-0 from Ryan Stevenson's penalty kick.

  142. 1558:
Former Liverpool, Leeds and England striker Robbie Fowler on Final Score:

Prior to today's game Sheffield Wednesday had failed to score in eight matches this season, but Miguel Llera steadied the ship early on firing in from close-range against Bristol City.

Two goals from Faris Haroun have helped give Middlesbrough a comfortable lead against bottom side Peterborough who have only won once in their last eight matches, but Dwight Gayle has given Posh some hope scoring minutes before the break. MOTD's John Motson at the EmiratesHALF-TIME- Arsenal 1-0 West Brom

MOTD's John Roder at the Liberty StadiumHALF-TIME- Swansea 0-3 Norwich

"Norwich are surely heading for three points here barring a Swansea comeback of miraculous proportions. This is amazing considering for 15 minutes or so Swansea were very much the dominant side. Michael Laudrup will have to deliver a very inspiring half-time teamtalk. Swansea's long run unbeaten looks as though it's going to be ended this afternoon, with Norwich firmly on top."

  154. 1548:
    HALF-TIME- Aston Villa 0-0 Stoke

MOTD commentator Martin Fisher at Villa Park:

"Goalless at half-time between Aston Villa and Stoke. It is the seventh time this season Stoke have gone into the break with this scoreline. Aston Villa have offered more than their visitors - but not much more in the final third. There has just been the one real effort at goal from Villa striker Christian Benteke."

  155. 1548:
GOAL- Sunderland 0-2 Chelsea - Fernando Torres (45 mins)

Interesting. Chelsea had two penalties in midweek, Fernando Torres didn't take either of them but he wants this one. Up he steps, and steers the ball into the corner. Is Torres back?

Who had this scoreline down at half-time? Incredible stuff from Norwich. But Swansea's defending is non-existent, they leave Grant Holt completely alone to meet a Robert Snodgrass free-kick from the right to thump a header into the top corner.

  162. 1544:

A West Brom ball into the box strikes Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker on the arm but referee Mike Jones says no to the away side's penalty appeals. The Gunners go up the other end and are only denied a second when Baggies keeper Boaz Myhill palms away a Gervinho shot.

    DISALLOWED GOAL

Southampton have the ball in the net as Jason Puncheon heads in from Adam Lallana's corner but the referee had already blown for a push from Maya Yoshida.

It looks a soft decision but the Saints are denied and it remains goalless at St Mary's.

There's more bad news for the hosts as midfielder Adam Lallana sustains a knee injury and limps off, to be replaced by Gaston Ramirez.

  165. 1540:
GOAL- Swansea 0-2 Norwich - Sebastien Bassong (40 mins)

Norwich double their lead. Grant Holt crosses in deep from the left, Sebastien Bassong gets up and all over his marker to head in at the near post. Swans keeper Gerhard Tremmel could have done better with that one, but it's a third goal in four games for Bassong.

  166. 1539:

It has a look of a real relegation scrap at Wigan, where the heavens have well and truly opened. Quality is at a premium with plenty of mistakes from both sets of players. It's anyone's game out there. I would rather have Shaun Derry out there in those conditions that Esteban Granero...

    CLOSE!

Arsenal almost make it 2-0. Again it's good positive approach play from Gervinho as he beats his man to get to the dead ball line, his cross is inviting but Jack Wilshere can't get there on the slide. He had an open goal waiting.

  170. 1536:
Former Arsenal and England defender Martin Keown on Final Score:

"When you see the Arsenal penalty decision from the side, there is no way it is a penalty. But, when you see it from the angle the referee saw it, you can see why the referee gave it against West Brom.

  173. 1533:

It's been a good response from Sunderland to hustle Chelsea. Chelsea are looking rushed and can't complete any of their passes at the minute. We saw this last weekend at West Ham from Chelsea - a bright start before being overpowered.

  174. 1532:

At St Mary's, Reading's Jay Tabb makes a jinking run into the penalty area and his shot is parried by Southampton goalkeeper Kelvin Davis.

  178. 1529:

Sunderland are having a spell of pressure here. First Stephane Sessegnon smashes in a 25-yarder which Petr Cech beats clear before the corner causes some havoc and it is cleared in the end. Good response from the Black Cats.

  179. 1528:
Former Liverpool, Leeds and England striker Robbie Fowler on Final Score:

"It was not a penalty for Arsenal, West Brom's Reid definitely did not touch Cazorla. There has been a lot of talk about diving, and I think Cazorla might be getting a call from the Football Association.

    SWANSEA 0-1 NORWICH

    WIGAN 1-1 QPR

  181. 1526:
GOAL- Wigan 1-1 QPR - Ryan Nelsen (26 mins)

Massive goal from the QPR captain Ryan Nelsen. It's his first for the club, as the Kiwi loses his man at the near post to head into the top corner. What a response for Harry Redknapp's men.

  182. 1525:
GOAL- Arsenal 1-0 West Brom - Mikel Arteta (26 mins)

Mikel Arteta missed a penalty at the Emirates recently but keeps his cool this time, slotting home down the middle.

  183. 1524:
    PENALTY TO ARSENAL

Santi Cazorla cuts inside on to his right foot and goes down under a challenge from Steven Reid.

  184. 1524:
Former Arsenal and England defender Martin Keown on Final Score:

"It was a lucky deflection in the end for the Wigan goal but a disaster for Harry. They will have to show some real character and personality now, if Harry can keep them in the division he will deserve a big, fat bonus."

Fernando Torres celebrates scoring for Chelsea

Fernando Torres scored his first Premier League goal for Chelsea since 6 October with his early strike at Sunderland.

  186. 1523:
    CLOSE!

West Brom are containing Arsenal at the Emirates, and they almost sneak into the lead when Chris Brunt takes control 30 yards from goal and fires a shot just wide of the top corner.

  187. 1523:

Southampton's Rickie Lambert is denied by Reading goalkeeper Adam Federici, who palms his curling effort away from goal after the striker had linked up well with team-mate Adam Lallana just inside the penalty area.

  188. 1522:
    SUBSTITUTION

Chelsea are well on top but are forced into an early change against Sunderland as Oscar comes on for Oriol Romeu, who seemed to jar his knee after landing awkwardly.

  192. 1519:
GOAL- Wigan 1-0 QPR - James McCarthy (19 mins)

Wigan had just been denied a spectacular opener from a David Jones free-kick, but now they do lead. Again it is a set-piece which causes Harry Redknapp's side problems as a corner is only headed out to the edge of the box, James McCarthy meets it on the volley and after taking a slight diversion off the calf of Jamie Mackie the ball whistles into the net. Great strike.

GOAL- Swansea 0-1 Norwich - Steven Whittaker (16 mins)

It's been coming, and Norwich lead with only their sixth away goal of the season. Steven Whittaker plays a one-two with Robert Snodgrass before cutting inside on to his left foot and beating Gerhard Tremmel with a low shot at his near post.

  195. 1516:

Villa striker Christian Benteke is denied by a brave block from Stoke skipper Ryan Shawcross. The Belgian meets a loose ball in the Potters box with a venomous volley which surely would have sailed past Asmir Begovic if not for Shawcross's intervention. Villa playing with plenty of tempo and are firmly on top.

  196. 1515:
Former Liverpool, Leeds and England striker Robbie Fowler on Final Score:

"I watched the Champions League game in mid-week and he looked fantastic and like the Torres of old. It is amazing what a little bit of confidence can do.

"His movement at the near post was fantastic to get a bit of space."

    HITS THE WOODWORK

Norwich so close to an opener at Swansea! Jonny Howson picks up a loose ball, drives forwards before sending in a dipping strike which thunks against the far post and spins away. Wonderful hit.

  198. 1511:
GOAL- Sunderland 0-1 Chelsea - Fernando Torres (11 mins)

Chelsea have started really well at Sunderland and they lead through Fernando Torres. Torres spins Carlos Cuellar on the halfway line before finding Victor Moses, who plays it out wide to Eden Hazard. The Belgian looks up and picks out Torres sprinting into the area, and he controls a wonderful volley into the top corner. Really fine goal from the Spaniard.

  199. 1509:

It's all been a bit scrappy in the big game between Wigan and QPR. Harry Redknapp's men have had the best sighter so far though, Shaun Wright-Phillips smashing in a cross-shot from the right which Ali Al Habsi beat clear. QPR working very hard.

  200. 1509:

Villa make a bright start against Stoke with skipper Gabriel Agbonlahor using his pace to cut through the visiting defence and initiate the home attacks. But Paul Lambert's side are still to fully stretch Potters goalkeeper Asmir Begovic - who has kept more clean sheets than any other top-flight stopper this season.

Mark on text via 81111: "That is THE reason why players go down easily. A clear foul on Hazard by the last man inside the area, Hazard doesn't go down. NOTHING GIVEN. If he had thrown himself to the ground then it was a red card and a penalty to Chelsea."

  202. 1508:
    CLOSE!

Big chance for Chelsea to take the lead at Sunderland - and it's a lucky break. A cross from the right is headed away by Sunderland defender John O'Shea, but he can only head straight into the face of team-mate Carlos Cuellar. The ball hits Cuellar and bounces to Fernando Torres, but his shot is smothered well by Simon Mignolet.

  203. 1506:
    SUBSTITUTION

A very early change for West Brom at Arsenal - where Liam Ridgwell has had to come off with an injury. Goran Popov is on.

  204. 1505:

League leaders Gillingham take on Rotherham, with the Gills hoping to avoid a third consecutive loss in all competitions.

AFC Wimbledon will want to bounce back from their FA Cup defeat to MK Dons by beating bottom side Barnet, while Bradford will be hoping they can put the disappointment of being expelled from the FA Cup behind them by defeating Torquay. Aldershot can exit the bottom two should they take all three points away from their visit to Oxford.

  222. 1440:
    SCOTTISH PREMIER UPDATE

If the first half failed to enthuse the sparse crowd, the action after the break was a joy to watch for the travelling support as Celtic won 3-1. Killie were trailing to a Scott Brown goal when striker Paul Heffernan found himself in space eight yards out in the first minute of the second period. But Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew made a vital block and thereafter Neil Lennon's side turned on the style.

Brown received Victor Wanyama's pass and crossed for Joe Ledley to make it 2-0 and sub Georgios Samaras headed a third.

Chelsea resist the temptation to bring Frank Lampard back into the starting line-up despite his recovery from an ankle injury and opt for Oriol Romeu in place of the suspended John Mikel Obi. Aston Villa remain unchanged from their 1-1 draw at QPR, meaning £24m striker Darren Bent, who has not played for Paul Lambert's side since the end of October, starts on the bench once again. Charles N'Zogbia has resumed training after a six-week absence with a knee injury, but is still not fit enough to be named in the Villa squad.

There is just the one change for Stoke from their 1-0 success at West Bromwich Albion - and it is an enforced one. Charlie Adam, suspended for one match after picking up his fifth booking of the season at the Hawthorns, is replaced by Dean Whitehead. Peter Crouch is named among the substitutes having recovering from dental work after losing several teeth during the recent victory against Newcastle. Southampton v Reading (1500 GMT)

"It's a beautiful crisp day at St Mary's. Blue sky, bright sunshine, the sprinklers are on and the pitch looks perfect. It's all set up for a contest that, despite only being in December, could have implications in what happens in May.

"Reading boss Brian McDermott has refused to call this game a 'six pointer' but Southampton manager Nigel Adkins knows he could strike a significant early blow in the battle for Premier league survival, against one of his relegation rivals."

  263. 1356:

Everyone ready? The team news should start reaching us from the Premier League imminently.

Liam Chapman on Twitter: "This has been Derby's problem all season. We play nice football with young players, but don't take advantage when in control."

Sam Mahony on Twitter: "Hopefully Will Hughes can learn from Connor Wickham's disastrous move to Sunderland that the Prem can come too early."

  265. 1356:
    BBC Final Score

Robbie Fowler and Martin Keown join Gabby Logan for Final Score this afternoon as the trio bring you all the goals and incidents from the Premier League and Football League as they happen.

The show begins at 1430 GMT on the BBC HD channel, red button and BBC Sport website with the programme also available at 1630 on BBC One.

  266. 1355:
MOTD's Alistair Mann at the DW StadiumWigan v QPR (1500 GMT)

"There are already early signs of encouragement for Queens Park Rangers under Harry Redknapp, as two draws into his new reign he's already achieved Rangers' longest unbeaten run since February. His next challenge is to earn his first win - one of 10 he believes may be necessary to secure the Hoops' top-flight status. Wigan have themselves often demonstrated that there's always a route away from seeming oblivion. Even last season they were bottom with just six points from 12 games, but Roberto Martinez stuck to his footballing principles."

  267. 1355:
MOTD's John Roder at the Liberty StadiumSwansea v Norwich (1500 GMT)

"Both these sides have new managers, and both are enjoying good runs of late. Michael Laudrup's Swansea come into this weekend on the back of an excellent 2-0 victory at Arsenal, which extended their unbeaten run to seven in league and cup. Norwich's win over Sunderland last Sunday means Chris Hughton's side are undefeated in their last nine in all competitions. Whatever the result of this match, I am convinced it will be just as entertaining as previous recent fixtures between these two sides."

  268. 1354:
MOTD's Jonathan Pearce at the Stadium of LightSunderland v Chelsea (1500 GMT)

"Critics will cite the Chelsea boo-boys barracking Rafael Benitez and the fact they are the first Champions League winners to go out at the group stage the following season as reasons why it's a good time for Sunderland to play Chelsea. I don't think so. They crushed Nordsjaelland 6-1 and apart from the late collapse at West Ham, the defence has tightened up.

"It's never a good time for Sunderland to play Chelsea anyway. They've lost 14 of the last 15 meetings and Martin O'Neill has just three home league victories in 10 months as Black Cats boss. They've underachieved badly."

  269. 1354:
MOTD's Steve Wilson at St Mary'sSouthampton v Reading (1500 GMT)

"These two clubs have spent most of the last eight months rubbing shoulders either at the top of the Championship or at the bottom of the Premier League.

"Now they are separated by three points, but just one place, with Saints in 18th and Reading 19th.

"But look where both clubs have come from. When Brian McDermott got the job at the Madejski, Reading were languishing 21st in the Championship, and when Nigel Adkins took over at Southampton they were 22nd in League One."

  270. 1353:
Aston Villa v Stoke (1500 GMT)

MOTD commentator Martin Fisher at Villa Park: "Scoring has been a problem for both clubs this season, with just 26 goals between them in their 30 Premier League games. On the other hand, both teams have become very difficult to score against. Villa could do with all three points to move further away from the relegation zone, while a victory for Stoke could elevate them to sixth in the table by Saturday tea-time. Those incentives might encourage adventure rather than caution and we might get a goal-feast."

  271. 1353:
MOTD's John Motson at the EmiratesArsenal v West Brom (1500 GMT)

"Arsenal fans who saw their side beat Tottenham 5-2 last month might not agree, but this is possibly the Gunners' most important home game of the season. They have suffered their worst start to a league season under manager Arsene Wenger, their supporters are getting restless, and last weekend's defeat by Swansea hurt them badly. Arsenal's season has to start here. As for West Brom, this match will tell us a lot about where the Baggies stand now as they have lost two in a row. A few weeks ago, this would have looked like a routine Premier League game, but not any longer. West Brom will be desperate to avoid a third consecutive defeat, while it could be pivotal for how Arsenal's season pans out."

  272. 1351:

So we are just over an hour away from the six Premier League games coming your way. Here's what we can expect...

  273. 1351:
Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker on Twitter:

"No question @alanhansen06 is attempting to silence the crowd. Keeping it at the back before hitting @kennethdalglish with a tweet."

  274. 1351:

Michael Johnson is till technically on Manchester City's books I believe. Maybe he is being unleashed as a secret weapon against United in the derby tomorrow?

Probably not. A good half for Will Hughes though - though Derby will be fuming to be level after that late strike.

    HALF-TIME- Derby 1-1 Leeds
  277. 1347:
Former Derby midfielder Robbie Savage at Pride Park on BBC Radio 5 live:

"Football is such a strange game at times. That is the first time a Leeds player has touched the ball in their box.

"Nigel Clough will be fuming with that. What a time to score for Leeds."

  278. 1345:
GOAL- Derby 1-1 Leeds - Paul Green (45 mins)

A Leeds player has touched it in the area now! Former Derby midfielder Paul Green levels the scores up, running on to a fine knock down from Luciano Becchio and steering home from five yards out. Not sure that is deserved - but Leeds won't care one jot.

  279. 1344:
Former Derby midfielder Robbie Savage at Pride Park on BBC Radio 5 live:

"You cannot see what Leeds are trying to do today. There is nobody making runs into the channels, nobody making moves from the midfield.

"Instead, they are just lumping it up the field from the centre-backs and it is not working. They are not winning the second ball and are being over-run in the midfield.

"If I was Neil Warnock, I would make some substitutions at half-time and bring some energy into their team. I cannot remember a Leeds player touching the ball in the Derby penalty area."

  280. 1344:
    CLOSE!

Derby almost go 2-0 up. Will Hughes is again at the heart of it, beating two men down the left and firing in a low cross which Leeds defender Tom Lees can only slice into his own side-netting.

  281. 1341:

I think that ship has sailed Rob...

Former Derby midfielder Robbie Savage at Pride Park on BBC Radio 5 live:

"I think that was a 50/50 challenge, but Hendrick did miss the ball. Fair play to them both there.

"There was a big 'ooooo' from us when we saw that. It was definitely a yellow card, but the ball was there to be won.

"Fair play to Hall for not making a meal of it, and the referee for just giving a booking."

Listen to commentary of Derby v Leeds on BBC Radio 5 live.

  284. 1337:

Theo Robinson then takes out a ball boy after skidding off the track. Men down everywhere at Pride Park!

Thankfully both players, and the ball boy, are fine after those two incidents.

  285. 1335:

Wow, this is a big challenge. Derby midfielder Jeff Hendrick crashes into Ryan Hall, and the ball was a spectator in that challenge. Yards away from being touched by either player.

Hendrick, unsurprisingly, is booked. That was a thunderous challenge.

  286. 1331:
    SCOTTISH PREMIER UPDATE

Celtic have had Kilmarnock hosts under the cosh for most of the opening half, but they only lead 1-0 at the break.

Scott Brown side-footed home after a well-worked move down the right involving Gary Hooper and Adam Matthews. Striker Cillian Sheridan fizzed a shot over the bar from 22 yards to give the home fans some hope that they can yet get something from this match.

  287. 1330:

Add this to the Will Hughes checklist as well - the 'reducer.'

The Derby youngster clatters David Norris with a hefty challenge in midfield and is fortunate not to see a yellow card.

  288. 1328:

Will Hughes again! This time the youngster carves open the Leeds defence with another perfectly-weighted pass to Conor Sammon, who is tackled well.

Moments later, Leeds mount an attack but it is ended when Hughes tracks back to make a sliding tackle on the edge of his own area. The epitome of box-to-box midfield play.

  289. 1324:
    GREAT SAVE!

Nice link up from Derby as Theo Robinson and Conor Sammon play an intricate one-two, but this time Paddy Kenny is off his line quickly to make a flying save at his near post.

  290. 1323:

PJ on Twitter: "Colourful Leeds bench today - Brown, White & Gray!"

  291. 1323:

Will Hughes is getting through some work in that midfield for Derby.

The 17-year-old has already been in the England Under-21 side this season - a situation he called 'surreal' - and it is easy to see why. Leeds haven't responded yet to going a goal behind.

  292. 1319:

Leeds look a bit rattled by that goal - and I agree with Mr Savage, Paddy Kenny was beaten far too easily. He was caught off balance.

  293. 1318:
Former Derby midfielder Robbie Savage at Pride Park on BBC Radio 5 live:

"That was the first bit of quality from the boy Will Hughes. He drew the defence and slipped in Sammon.

"Hughes was the driving force behind that goal. But, it was poor goalkeeping from Paddy Kenny as he just let that trickle in and bad defending from Peltier."

Listen to commentary of Derby v Leeds on BBC Radio 5 live.

  294. 1316:
GOAL- Derby 1-0 Leeds - Conor Sammon (15 mins)

Genuine quality from Will Hughes as Derby take the lead. The midfielder surges forward before picking out the run of Conor Sammon with a lovely reverse pass. Defender Lee Peltier is turned far too easily though as the striker rolls his shot past Paddy Kenny.

  295. 1313:

Derby's teenage midfield hope Will Hughes has caught the eye with not only his distinctive hair, but some neat passes and also a willingness to get stuck in. Could he be on the move soon?

This game has yet to catch fire.

  296. 1313:
Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker on Twitter:

"Good Lord! Have just confirmed with the man himself that @alanhansen06 is genuine. Absolutely shocking tweeting!"

  297. 1311:
    CLOSE!

The first real chance of the game at Pride Park. Derby striker Conor Sammon charges down a Paddy Kenny clearance but the ball comes back off a defender and goes behind for a corner.

From the corner Theo Robinson heads over the top. Good little spell from the home side.

  298. 1308:

We've got another injury concern now as Leeds striker Luciano Becchio gets clattered by Richard Keogh as they compete for a header. Again though, after a delay the forward is able to carry on.

  299. 1307:
Former Derby midfielder Robbie Savage at Pride Park on BBC Radio 5 live:

"I think the game will be won and lost in the middle of the park. Michael Tonge for Leeds has not got the legs he used to, but he has quality, while the young boys at Derby have shown real promise."
