Manchester City: Vincent Kompany rejects Roberto Mancini reports
Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has rejected reports claiming the players are disillusioned with manager Roberto Mancini.
Reports claimed several senior players were unhappy with Mancini's tactics after City's Champions League defeat by Ajax on Wednesday.
But Kompany strongly criticised the stories and the writers' "integrity".
He told the City website: "The stories are based on things I can't relate to and I'm in this team."
Defender Micah Richards publicly questioned the manager's decision to switch formations several times during the 3-1 loss to Ajax, which left Mancini admitting the team needed a "miracle" to reach the knockout stages.
Although the Premier League champions are unbeaten in the league this season and are only a point behind leaders Chelsea, centre-back Joleon Lescott has said the players have not been "overly enthusiastic" with their start to the campaign.
Kompany, however, said the club was suffering because of the standards set last season.
"As much as I set out in my career to be the best footballer, I would expect journalists to want to tell the truth, and do the job for that reason," said Kompany.
"It's part of the game, and I accept that part of the game. I just wonder where the integrity of some journalists stands when they come out with stories with no foundation whatsoever."

#208 Dream on, non/sense2! Have you visited east Manchester recently and noticed any developments near the ground? You could pick up an A-Z cheaply and take a peek...
As for the owners - humane, highly educated, ambitious - we love 'em to bits.
How are the Glazers doing, in your estimation?

With regard to the city manager the owners want to win everything and with what they have put in who can blame them The biggest treat for city fans is if the owner grows tired of his toy and pulls the plug. They would then be looking forward to local derbys against the likes of Bury and Rochdale.

@188 Is it "silly" to call United the richest post-war British club? I disagree; most people who follow football closely would think that was a perfect description of the club. Record breaking signings (too many to list) are just one valid indicator of United's wealth. There are many others.
I do know about inflation!
Fergie took 7 and 13 years to win the PL + CL.
Sing with me "Mancini..."!
