QPR's Andy Johnson could miss most of the season with injury
QPR striker Andy Johnson is likely to miss most of the rest of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The 31-year-old limped off in the 32nd minute of Saturday's goalless draw against Chelsea at Loftus Road.
Johnson was making only his fourth appearance for the club since his free transfer from Fulham in the summer.
Bobby Zamora, Jamie Mackie and Djibril Cisse remain as available attacking options for manager Mark Hughes.
Although he made 33 appearances for the Cottagers last season, Johnson had exploratory knee surgery midway through a 2009-10 campaign dogged by injury.
The former Birmingham, Crystal Palace and Everton forward has represented England eight times, although he is yet to score.

@43 Your right horrible to see someone wanting a player to be injured especially someone who comes across as decent as AJ. However if it had been AF or RF that had that injury I would be laughing my t!ts off. Horrible despicable couple of individuals. Choc ice indeed.

Injury prone, waste of money. Poor judgement by Mark Hughes. Still remember AJ's smug look when as an Ex Blue nose he ocassionally scored at Villa Park. More abiding memory of him was when he cried on Trevor Francis' shoulder after losing in the League cup final. Hang up your boots and move on.

AJ did well at FFC when he played but was injured too often. Hughes is a poor manager as AJ's record was one of injury increasing with age and now he has wasted £1.2m in wages.

I think someone needs to sit down with AJ and break it to him that it is time to hang up his boots....
