A freak Rene Howe goal earned victory for Torquay and continued AFC Wimbledon's poor start to the season.

Christian Jolley almost gave the home side the lead when his effort drew a point-blank save from Michael Poke.

Dons keeper Seb Brown denied Lee Mansell and Howe, but the goalkeeper's luck ran out when a clearance bounced off Howe and into an empty net.

Wimbledon's misery was complete when Jolley was sent off late on for collecting a second yellow card.
