The visitors went ahead against the run of play when Akpo Sodje nodded in Scott Laird's cross at the back post, and they never looked back.

Adam Lockwood went close for the hosts, but Shane Cansdell-Sherriff headed in Laird's in-swinging free-kick for 2-0.

Shakers defender Joe Skarz headed home Peter Sweeney's corner in stoppage time, but North End held on.
