Gary Mackay-Steven and Johnny Russell celebrate with Dundee United
Dundee United reject Huddersfield bid for Scotland U21 duo
Dundee United have rejected a joint bid of £1.25m from Huddersfield Town for Scotland Under-21 internationals Johnny Russell and Gary Mackay-Steven.
United sources have told BBC Scotland that they informed the English Championship club that their offer for the 22-year-olds "is an insult".
Celtic have also been linked with both players without any offers being made.
Hudderfield have money to spend after selling new full Scotland cap Jordan Rhodes to Blackburn Rovers for £8m.
Russell is a product of United's youth system and has become a regular starter up front for United since David Goodwillie was sold to Blackburn for more than £2m last summer.
Mackay-Steven has had a previous spell in English football, having been snapped up by Liverpool from Ross County as a youth.
However, following injury problems, he returned to Scotland with Airdrie United last year and his form quickly led to a move to the Scottish Premier League with United.
