Kieran Richardson: Fulham sign Sunderland midfielder for £2m
Fulham have completed the signing of former England midfielder Kieran Richardson from Sunderland.
The 27-year-old, who can also play at left-back, has signed a three-year deal with the option of a further year.
The Cottagers have paid a reported £2m for Richardson, who joined Sunderland from Manchester United in 2007.
"Kieran is a proven top-level player, who has the versatility to play a number of positions," Fulham manager Martin Jol said.
"He will bring all-round quality which will add strength to our squad and I'm confident that he will adapt well to our style of football and make an impact for us."

I don't know. Richardson's reasonably priced, no question, but I have to think we're going to be busy in the January transfer window to give Berbatov the passing support he really needs from midfield. Ruiz is a good playmaker, but we need one more playmaker/scorer from midfield if we're going to survive, and now that Demps is REALLY gone, we need to start looking for that playmaker ASAP!

This is a good bit of business by Fulham, loads of experience and a reasonable fee. He'll give them a bit of width (other than the full backs) and act as a bit of an outlet.
He's not a Dembele replacement, but then again do they want another central midfielder who won't/can't pass more than 5 yards? Fulham have done well in this window methinks.

Richardson is a clumsy winger to say the least, this guy is more suited to a championship team. Anyone who says he is Dembele's replacement needs to be checked into to a mental institution...

To be fair, £2m for a 27-year old with years of PL experience behind him is a bargain. He can pick out a cross so if Fulham can get the bodies in the box it could work out well.

I reckon Richardson will prove to be a hit at The Cottage.
Jol obviously has something in mind and if he believes Richardson is the man for the job, I have faith.
