We had to be perfect against Southampton - Roberto Martinez

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez says his strikers set "an example" after beating Premier League newcomers Southampton 2-0 at St Mary's.

The Saints had impressed at Manchester City in their season-opener but could not prevent goals from Latics' Franco Di Santo and Arouna Kone on Saturday.

Earlier this week Chelsea signed Wigan forward Victor Moses for an undisclosed fee but Martinez says they have recruited in advance to cope with his departure.
