Andrew Barrowman scored twice as Dunfermline Athletic eased past Montrose and into the third round of the Scottish Communities League Cup.
Barrowman fired into the bottom corner from close range after three minutes to put the First Division side ahead.
It was Ryan Wallace's turn to apply the finish in the six-yard box five minutes before the break.
Another close-range finish from Barrowman sealed the Third Division side's fate after 63 minutes.
Dunfermline welcomed back Paul Willis after the winger sat out Saturday's win over Airdrie United as the club investigate off-the-field issues.
Fellow midfielder Ryan Thomson, who is subject to a separate investigation by the Fife club, was still not available for selection by manager Jim Jefferies.
But they quickly banished any on-field fears that Montrose might take another First Division scalp following their defeat in the previous round of the Pars' Fife neighbours, Cowdenbeath.
Barrowman tucked home Jordan McMillan's pass from six yards for the striker's third goal in five games.
They continued to dominate and came close to doubling their advantage in the 25th minute, but Wallace's 20-yard effort struck the bar.
Wallace was not to be denied a second time as he claimed his second goal in three matches, finishing from close range from Josh Falkingham's delivery.
Falkingham was again the provider as Dunfermline grabbed a third courtesy of Barrowman with another clinical finish.
